♠️ Gameplay:
Game is all of the rounds put together and ends when you reach the predetermined 250 points score.

♠️ Cards - A standard pack of 52 cards is used ranked from highest to lowest: A, K, Q, J, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2.

♠️ Round
Starts with dealing 13 cards to each player. A round concludes after all 13 cards are played by each player. Also known as "deal" or "hand".

♠️ Trick
A trick is a set of 4 cards, one from each player. Also known as "book".

♠️ Trump
A card suit that wins a trick when another suit has been led. In Spades, ♠ always wins and can only be beaten by higher ♠.

♠️ Dump
A card (usually high in rank) which is played in a way to avoid taking a trick. In Spades, and can be dumped. Also known as "slough" or "sluff".

♠️ Bid
The number of tricks the players on a team are contracted to take. Each player makes a separate bid and the combined bid is the goal.

♠️ Nil
A bid of zero tricks after you have seen your cards. This is a somewhat risky play with a big reward when it is done successfully.

♠️ Blind Nil

♠️ Points
A unit of counting in the scoring of a game. Points scored are computed by comparing a team's combined bids against their tricks taken.

♠️ Sandbags
Taking more tricks than bids in a round. Lose 100 pts. for every set of 10 sandbags collected. Also known as "bag" or "overtrick".

♠️ Scoring:
The side which reaches 250 points first wins the game. The team who reaches -150 points loses a game eralier.
For making the contract (the number of tricks bid), the player scores 10 points for each trick bid, plus 1 point for each overtrick.
For example, if the player's bid is Seven and they make seven tricks, the score would be 70.

If the bid was Five and the player won eight tricks, the score would be 53 points: 50 points for the bid, and 3 points for the three overtricks. Overtricks are called "bags" and a deduction of 100 points is made every time a player accumulates 10 bags.

Bidding is an important component of Spades. At the most basic level, bidding the number of Kings and Aces in your hand is a good place to start. Of course, there are other modifications you may want to make. For example, your bid might be higher or lower depending on how many ♠ you have. Bidding 1 for each ♠ beyond three is usually a good idea; for example, +1 if you have four ♠s, +2 if you have five ♠s, +3 if you have six ♠s, etc. You may also want to bid higher if you have two or less , or in your hand.

♠️ Going Nil
Nil offers a high risk and high reward when bidding. You are committing to taking zero tricks. Generally, lower cards and few ♠ is a better hand for Nil. Having a King or Ace in , , or is okay as long as you have low cards in the same suit; it is never safe to bid Nil with the King or Ace of ♠. It’s usually not a good idea to bid Nil if your partner has already gone Nil. However, it is often easier to go Nil when an opponent has bid Nil. Likewise, if your partner or an opponent has an extraordinarily high bid, it may be easier to successfully go Nil.
