Open Nettest is an independent and transparent tool, developed and improved with the expertise of Regulatory Authorities across Europe. The measurement ecosystem is not sponsored by any Internet service provider. The measurement servers are located outside of the operators' networks in several Internet peering exchange point. The source code, including the measurement methodology, is available on-line at https://github.com/specure under Apache 2.0 open source license.
The aggregated results are available in the app and also on-line at https://nettest.org/en/statistics. The anonymized raw data is also available as open data on various European data portals and at https://nettest.org/en/opendata.
The iOS application contains a rich set of features, including:
- Measurement of basic parameters of your internet connection: download speed, upload speed, ping, jitter and packet loss
- Measurement of additional QoS and Net Neutrality parameters: Test of VOIP connection, Closed TCP and UDP ports, Webpage rendering test (Kepler page), Transparent connection test, Unmodified content test, DNS test
