Argent Twilight is one of the premier mobile games slated to launch this year in the 4th quarter of 2022 according to the developers at Nexon. The community is highly excited ever since the game’s official trailer was published on different social media outlets. The game was first titled “Project SF2” and was later confirmed to be Argent Twilight. Making use of the powerful Unreal Engine 4, Argent Twilight leaves no stones unturned to shallow our imagination of what beautiful and aesthetic turn-based RPGs can look like. The game has multiple heroes, each with their own strategic requirement in the forms of buffs, debuffs, classes, elements, etc. The base gameplay of Argent Twilight revolves around the player starting the battle with a formation of 4 different heroes. These heroes are placed on a grid-like map that is divided into multiple squares.
Argent Twilight has all the aspects of a popular anime-style game. It also brings some new mechanics and official terminology that may be different to new players or existing veterans of the genre. In this beginner’s guide for Argent Twilight, we will be going through the basics of the 4 main systems that every new player must understand in order to progress faster and more efficiently in Argent Twilight.
The systems are as follows:
- Summoning System
- Understanding the Currencies
- Combat Mechanics
- Upgrading Heroes
- Missions and Quests
Understanding the Summoning System
Argent Twilight is a gacha game where players can summon their favorite heroes using the Summon system. Players can access this system after completing Chapter 1 Stage 6 of the main story mode. The Summon tab is located in the middle of the bottom-left-hand side of the main menu. Inside this tab, players will be able to see different types of summoning banners where each of the banners provides access to different types of heroes. The main banners available to players to summon as they start the game are as follows:
- Soul Summon Banner – This type of summoning banner is used for summoning all heroes of whom you have collected fragments of. Players need complete fragments to summon the specific hero.
- Normal Summoning Banner – This type of summoning banner is used for summoning 1–3-star heroes if using White Feathers or 3-5 Star heroes if using Golden Feathers. Players can also summon 3-5 Star Fire/Wind/Water elemental heroes if they are using Red/Blue/Green Feathers.
- Prophecy Summoning Banner – This type of summoning banner is used for summoning 3–5-star heroes from a specific pool of heroes. Players are able to choose their desired 5-Star who will have a rate-up to be obtained if summoned a 5-Star hero from this banner.
The heroes in the prophecy summoning banner change every week to give players a variety to choose from. Apart from the different banners in the game, players also need to understand that Argent Twilight has different heroes available to be summoned at different probabilities. In the system, the highest rarity of heroes has the lowest probability of being summoned while the lowest rarity of heroes has the highest probability of being summoned.
The rate of summoning all rarities of heroes is as follows:
- 5-Star Heroes – 0.5% chance of summoning them
- 4-Star Heroes – 7.9% chance of summoning them
- 3-Star Heroes – 91.6% chance of summoning them
Players require different types of summoning currencies to summon on different summoning banners.
The different currencies which are used during summons in the Summon system are:
- White Feather – Used for summoning 1-3 Star heroes on the Normal Summoning banner.
- Golden Feather – Used for summoning 3-5 Star heroes on the Normal Summoning banner.
- Red Feather – Used for summoning 3-5 Star Fire elemental heroes on the Normal Summoning banner.
- Blue Feather – Used for summoning 3-5 Star Water elemental heroes on the Normal Summoning banner.
- Green Feather – Used for summoning 3-5 Star Wind elemental heroes on the Normal Summoning banner.
- Light and Dark Feather – Used for summoning 3-5 Star light/dark elemental heroes on the Normal Summoning banner.
- Diamond Feather – Used for summoning 4-5 Star heroes on the Normal Summoning banner.
- Prophecy Summoning Quartz – Used for summoning 3-5 Star heroes on the Prophecy Summoning banner.
Understanding The Currencies
New players who are coming to Argent Twilight will be thrown in turmoil as the game has a steep learning curve. One of the obstacles is the different types of currencies that are given to you as you start your journey. Understanding the importance and usage of these different currencies is extremely important for the player as they decide the pace of progression you will be making in your starting days.
These currencies can be seen in the middle of the main menu and are as follows:
- Cookies
- Talons
- Gold
- Rubies
Cookies are like Energy/Stamina currency present in other similar titles which require players to repeatedly grind the stages. Players will use Cookies whenever they want to participate in any of the PvE game modes available in Argent Twilight. Hence, cookies are essential to be able to play the game and get more experience so you can level up your player rank. Players can earn cookies passively as it recharges over time. Players can also get Cookies through different rewards in events, quests, playtime rewards, etc. Apart from that, they can also recharge cookies instantaneously using their Rubies at the rate of 150 Cookies for 90 Rubies.
Talon is the currency that players can use in order to take part in the different PvP-based game modes like the Resolute Battlefield. Players can recharge Talons passively as they also regenerate over time, however, at a slower pace than cookies. Players can buy more talons instantaneously by using their collected rubies at the rate of 10 Talons for 90 rubies.
Rubies are the premium currency of Argent Twilight and they are primarily used for summoning heroes in the Summon system. Players do not directly use Rubies to summon but purchase feathers from the Ruby Shop to summon heroes. For the new players, Rubies will be extremely scarce as they are available only through select methods like events, and main story progression rewards. Players also earn rubies from daily quests and weekly quests. Players can even get rubies for their achievements and check the background relationship of their newly obtained heroes. Rubies can also be used to recharge the cookies or for buying extra gold in the Ruby Shop.
Gold is one of the most abundantly available currencies in Argent Twilight. Rightfully so, since players will need a ton of gold to be able to upgrade their equipment or level up their heroes. Gold is required at almost every stage of the game and in large quantities to be able to upgrade your heroes and equipment. Players will be greeted with lots of gold as they start the game from achievements, quests, new player growth missions, log-in rewards, main story clearance rewards, etc.
Combat Mechanics in Argent Twilight
The combat mechanics of Argent Twilight are quite simple to understand but difficult to master. As per the tradition of the game, the players must understand that some heroes are naturally better than others due to their better stats and skill sets. Players can refer to a tier list for Argent Twilight to get a better understanding of the top heroes in the game. Starting from the basics, the first thing players are tasked to do is to build a formation of heroes. The formation consists of 4 unique heroes and selecting a leader skill of any hero that provides bonus stats to the whole formation. Players can take their formation into any game mode (preferably main story stages for new players).
As the battle starts, players must take note of the 2 different colored bars that are visually available for every hero on the battlefield. These are the HP Bar and Action Gauge Bar. These bars are present for all heroes and enemies on the battlefield. Once the HP Bar, denoted by the green color, gets reduced to 0, the hero will die and no longer be present on the battlefield. Once the Action Gauge Bar gets full, denoted by white color, the hero will take its turn. Hence, players need to focus on the HP Bar for survival and the Action Gauge Bar to take turns fast. Apart from these bars, a number of debuffs and buffs take place during the battle. We cannot explain all of them here but can provide new players with a tip. Click on any hero on the battlefield to view the buffs/debuffs present on them. Players will get a detailed explanation of what it does.
Upgrading Heroes in Argent Twilight
Argent Twilight is a Role-Playing Game and players need to upgrade their collected heroes once summoned from the summoning system. Using better quality heroes is one way to advance in the game but upgrading heroes makes even the lower quality heroes great in some ways. Players will encounter trouble after the 2nd Chapter of the main story stage and this is where they will be required to power up their heroes. Firstly, go to the Heroes tab in order to view your collected heroes.
In this section, players will find different ways to power up their hero.
Here is a brief explanation of all the systems present in Argent Twilight to strengthen your heroes:
- Leveling Up
- Ascension
- Awakening
- Skills
- Equipment
- Artifact
Leveling Up is one of the best methods to increase the power level of your heroes. Leveling up your heroes directly increases their base stats. Players can level up their heroes either by including them in their formation and taking them in battles or by feeding them different elemental potions to provide some XP. The easier method is to provide them the potions but these potions are quite scarce. Hence, grinding stages repeatedly is the most efficient way to level up heroes. Keep in mind that the heroes can only be leveled up to their star level. For example, a 3-Star hero can only be leveled to Level 30. Post the max level, the heroes need to be Ascended.
Ascension is another mechanic to help increase the strength of your heroes. As we previously mentioned, only max-leveled heroes are eligible to be ascended. Ascension refers to the star level of any hero. This is not to be confused with their level. Each hero can be ascended up to a maximum of 6 stars, reaching a maximum of Level 60 at 6-Stars. Players need fodder of similar star levels for which they are ascending their heroes. For example, if players want to ascend a Level 30 3-Star hero, they will require 3 different 3-Star heroes to feed into your main hero. Do not worry as these fodder heroes do not need to be Level 30.
Awakening is another method to increase the hero’s strength. Players can awaken their heroes by going to the Growth tab-> Awakening sub-section. Here, they will find that there are 6 different awakening levels. The higher the awakening level, the more resources it requires. Players can awaken their heroes up to 6 times, depending on the current star level. For example, a 2-Star hero can only be awakened 2 times until he/she is ascended to a higher star level. Awakening increases the base stats of the hero as well as upgrades their abilities at the 3rd awakening. Players need different elemental shards of differing rarities to awaken their heroes. Do not worry as these shards can be farmed in Starlight Lake.
Equipment are those pieces of gear that are equipped for your heroes and provide them with additional stats. Equipment comes in different shapes for different parts of the body of your hero. Here are the main parts:
- Weapon
- Helm
- Chest plate
- Ring
- Necklace
- Boots
Players can farm different tiers of equipment from the different dungeons present in the game. Every piece of equipment has a specific set attached to it. These sets come in either 2 pieces or 4 pieces. Equipping 2/4 equipment of the same set provides a set effect to the hero. These further help players to gain additional stats or utility for their hero.
Skills of all heroes can be upgraded as well to provide some better damage numbers or utility effects. All skills are upgraded using skill books that come in different rarities. The base star level of the hero decides which rarity of Skill books are required to upgrade their skills. For example, a base 3-Star hero’s skills can be upgraded using 3-Star Skill Books. Players can also upgrade the hero’s skills using duplicates of them that they have summoned.
Artifacts in Argent Twilight are important to provide extra effects or damage stats to the heroes. Players can equip different heroes’ artifacts to them when they reach their 5th ascension.
Quests
Quests in Argent Twilight are one of the main sources of freebies and rewards in the game. Players can access the quest tab by going to the bottom left-hand side of the main menu.
