A Beginner’s Guide to the World of Deserted Dawn
Deserted Dawn is set in the aftermath of a massive war that transformed the entire planet into nothing but a vast landscape of ruins. Survival is the top priority now in this war-torn world and anything must be done to ensure that. After being separated from your friends after a botched attempt at stopping an invasion from the Evernight Army, you were suddenly left to your own devices. But now, it is time to carry the responsibility of not only rescuing your friends but to save the world from the evil that perpetuates within.
The world of Deserted Dawn is a dangerous place, especially because numerous undead creatures roam within it. This heroic journey is undoubtedly going to be a long and difficult one; however, this game guide will teach you all of the things that you need to know in order to survive. Let’s start our journey by selecting our class.
Selecting Your Class
Before you begin the game, you are prompted to choose between four unique classes. The class that you pick determines the weapons as well as the attack moves that you will be using throughout your journey. Note that, as of writing, you cannot change the gender of whatever class you pick.
The four classes of Deserted Dawn are:
- The Ranger class has a gun and boxing gloves.
- The Medic class has bows and guns.
- The Assassin class has swords and cannons.
- The Guardian class has blades and hammers.
Do not pick a class strictly according to aesthetics. Select the class whose weapons will suit your preference or playstyle. For example, if you favor killing enemies from a distance, then opt for either the Ranger or Medic Classes. On the other hand, if you prefer melee combat, then opt for either the Assassin or Guardian classes.
Each class will have a hexagon that graphically details the stats that they specialize on. Some classes lean more towards damage while some towards defense.
There is no default best class. At the end of the day, it all depends on your playstyle. If you happen to regret your class selection, you can play a different one by creating another character. The game gives you three extra character slots and you select among these slots before entering the game. Use these extra slots to experiment with different classes and see which one suits you better. Take note that you will start over upon playing another class (but the first class that you picked will still be saved).
In total, you have four character slots in one account. But you can technically have more than four with the help of BlueStacks Multi-instance. This awesome feature allows you to play Deserted Dawn on a separate engine (instance), allowing you to reroll your account with ease.
Basic Combat
Combat is very simple in Deserted Dawn. If you are already familiar with playing mobile MMORPGS, then you will feel right at home in this game because the controls are more or less very similar.
A normal attack is done by pressing Space. You also have three special attacks or skills which can be activated with H, J, or K respectively. Note that you can freely change the key bindings in BlueStacks.
The normal attack can be spammed repeatedly for continuous dealing of damage. On the other hand, the skills deal greater damage at the expense of having to cool down every after use. Some skills attack enemies from all directions, while some only focus on one. You do not have all the skills at the beginning of the game; however, it does not really take too long to unlock all three throughout your journey.
If you have a specific combo of attacks in mind, you can compile that into just key bind with the help of BlueStacks Macros. This allows you to record a sequence of in-game actions and then assign it to any key.
You do not have to manually control your character all the time. By pressing Tab, you can activate Auto mode to allow your character to keep fighting enemies without the need to control them. Auto mode also works during quests so it is actually possible to complete quests without ever having to take control of your character.
This feature essentially allows you to idle the game and farm in-game resources while you do other things aside from playing the game. Keep in mind though that you still need to check your character every once in a while to ensure that they are not close to zero health while in Auto mode.
Gear and Player Stats
What makes or breaks your character in Deserted Dawn is the gear that they equip. Gear is responsible for strengthening your character and you will eventually collect these as you play through the game. The power that your character has is generally gauged by Combat Power, which is seen on the top-left of the screen.
Combat Power is made up of five basic stats with each stat having other sub-stats under it:
-
- Power – ATK and Hit
- AGI – CRIT and Dodge
- INT – PEN ATK and Block Break
- Fortitude – HP and Crit Res
- Resilience – DEF and Block
When collecting gear, it will display the sub-stats that it will improve. Gear can be leveled up with materials and gold. There are two options for upgrading your gear. Enhance will level up your gear by one. On the other hand, Quick enhance will level up the gear to the highest possible level given the available resources.
There is a limit to how far you can level up and it depends on your character’s level. Additionally, the stats of your old gear will instantly transfer to new and better gear that you scavenge along the way.
Other Equipment – Vehicle and Drone
Aside from gear, your character also has their own vehicle and drone to aid them in their journey. Note that these will be unlocked in later parts of the game but you should be able to unlock it after a few hours of playing.
The vehicles can be used to travel the in-game map faster. You can upgrade and level up this with a special resource called the Nuclear Battery. Levelling up the vehicle to a certain level will promote its rank and this can drastically change its appearance to a cooler one.
The drone is a very useful piece of equipment that helps you in killing enemies. It is upgraded with electrical components. Upgrading the drone will not only increase its stats but will also grant you additional skills that you can use in combat. Furthermore, the drone-given skills can be improved with Star Up.
Main Quests and Daily Tasks
Main quests are the primary method of progression in Deserted Dawn. But there are also daily activities that the player can do to receive more rewards such as EXP and materials needed for upgrades.
The main story quests generously give plenty of rewards upon completion. Additionally, some features of the game can only be unlocked after finishing certain story quests (i.e. vehicle and drone).
Aside from story quests, you can gain additional rewards by playing daily quests. These comprise multiple tasks that can be done in various areas of the map. Moreover, the dailies are segregated into four categories.
The DAILY-EXP quests require you to do mostly mundane tasks but reward you with a fair amount of EXP, gold, and treasure maps. These maps are used for DAILY-Materials quests which has you scavenging specific areas of the map to collect materials that you can use for upgrading. There are also DAILY-Bound Diamond quests that involve PvP combat as well as microtransactions. Lastly, the DAILY-Gear quests require you to defeat a boss to unlock not only new gear but rare materials and EXP.
These are all of the basic things that you need to know about surviving in the treacherous world of Deserted Dawn. Remembering these will greatly help you in your journey to rescue your friends, and most importantly save the world that you once called home.
