Frost & Flame: King of Avalon Beginner's Guide – Master the Gameplay Mechanics
Frost & Flame: King of Avalon is a strategy game that combines base building, resource management, and real-time combat in a fantasy world filled with dragons and epic battles. As a new player, it can feel overwhelming, but with the right approach, you can quickly establish a strong foundation and rise to power. This guide will provide you with essential tips and strategies to help you start your journey in Avalon effectively.
Understanding the Gameplay Mechanics
At the core, the gameplay of Frost & Flame: King of Avalon is mixed between that of a RTS game and that of a tower-defense. Majority of the combat happens in the latter genre, and majority of the exploration and missions are carried out in the former genre. This mix and match of different genres is not new, and something we are seeing more commonly to spice things up. For the RTS part, players are initially required to simply construct different core buildings such as the Stronghold, Hero Council, and more. These buildings can further be interacted with and require the basic resource called “Wood” to upgrade.
The game follows a dark and hollow theme the entire time, resembling that of a medieval fantasy fairytale. On your journey, you will need to constantly farm more resources by clearing obstacles. Obstacles can be simply cleared by tapping on them and assigning a builder. As you progress and complete the beginner missions, you will get access to multiple resources that will allow you to summon strong heroes, increase their combat potency, and unlock your very own Dragon!
Lord’s Reign Missions
Lord’s Reign missions provide the greatest action because they highlight missions near your citadel on the World Map, and this is where many of the Explore fights take place. Aside from Explore engagements, there are Marches, which are auto combat based on force size and composition rather than tactical posture.
Rescues are essentially free gifts in the shape of more soldiers for March fights, whereas Diplomatic tasks are simple quizzes in which you choose the best answer to a given situation. You only have a limited number of these each 8 hours, therefore finish them all, saving only the ones that could result in a defeat with terrible, severe fatalities for later.
Learn the Combat Mechanics
Like we mentioned before, the combat mechanics of Frost & Flame: King of Avalon are distinctly different from the rest of the game. They happen in a tower-defense setting, wherein players can create multiple diverse formations before the match even starts. The Dragonfire Relay is a campaign mode comprising different stages that scale in difficulty as you progress. Players can check out the enemies they have to fight before the match begins to strategize their own squads effectively. Look into each hero’s active and passive abilities. Some heroes work best with rangers and deal ranged damage while others only function with melee damage dealers.
In battles, you will be facing multiple waves of enemies denoted on the top left-hand side of the screen. On the right-hand side, you should see your own heroes. In the middle, you should see the main objective and the entire positioning of your heroes and troops. Each hero can command up to 3 troops. Heroes are not mobile and cannot move on command. You will need to make the best out of the situation you’re trapped in. Each hero accumulates a resource called “Energy” when they take damage or kill enemies. Energy, once full, can be used to activate their active abilities by targeting a specific area on the map. There are also multiple obstacles and explosives that you can attack to strategically destroy massive waves of enemies.
Summon Strong Heroes in the Hero Council
One of the best and guaranteed ways to get access to the strongest heroes in the game is by summoning them from the Hero Council building. You will unlock this building fairly early on your adventures. It consists of 3 different areas – Summoning Circle, Hero Hall, and Dragonfire Relay. The Summoning Circle is the innate gacha system of the game that allows players to recruit any hero in the game.
Each hero is given a base rarity, and the higher this rarity, the tougher it is to obtain them. Players can choose to summon on multiple banners. You can either summon 1 time or 10 times in a row. It’s recommended to always summon in tens as it saves you 30 golden horns.
Daily Quests and Kingdom Quests
You can access the daily quests by tapping the two crossed axes button in the lower left corner of the main screen. One more set of quests that you will see are the Kingdom Quests. The Kingdom Quests are tasks that must be completed throughout the entire game. Daily Quests, on the other hand, are intended to be completed daily, as the name implies. Completing Daily Quests unlocks containers containing Gold Summoning Horns for the Summoning Circle gacha, among other valuable things.
Players can enjoy Frost & Flame: King of Avalon even more on a bigger screen of their PC or Laptop with keyboard and mouse via BlueStacks for an elevated gameplay experience.
