Rebel Skies Beginners Guide to Dominate the Outer Galaxy
Rebel Skies is a beautiful new strategy game that features inter-galactic warfare between different tribes and nations. You are greeted by JeFF, a sentient mecha robot that cheerfully guides you through the basic combat mechanics. On your adventures, you will find many tough adversaries that require a deeper understanding of the game mechanics to take down. Much like a true RPG, players will be able to craft decks with unique characters to recruit and play alongside with. This beginners guide will help you learn more about the core mechanics involved to progress faster in Rebel Skies.
Understand the Gameplay Mechanics of Rebel Skies
Rebel Skies offers players a real-time battle system with the coveted campaign mode. Firstly, players need to know about decks. Decks are essentially made up of 20 cards, in which you can fit Energy generators, unit cards, and ability cards. Depending on the leader of your deck, the unit constituents can change. For example, the starter deck all players are given consists of Kuro as the leader. This charismatic robot commands the armies of robots and tech giants to slay any potential threats on the battlefield. The core currency of battles is called “Energy”.
Energy is the purple-colored orb thing that you generate over time while in battles. You can see the amount of energy you have on the bottom bar of the screen. All players can hold up to 10 energy at maximum capacity. While energy recharges at its own pace, players can increase this pace by placing energy generators on their side of the battlefield. You can place up to a maximum of 3 energy generators, with each generator costing 5 energy to place. Every unit and ability card in your arsenal also requires energy to use, hence, it’s always recommended to place at least 1 generator when you start the game.
There are different types of cards. Troop cards come in different rarities and technology grades. The higher the technology grade, the more energy you will need to spend in order to first research and unlock them, and then placing them on the battlefield. Such tasks will require abundance of energy, while your enemy won’t be as gracious with time as your energy takes to recharge. The enemy can launch attacks on multiple fronts, which you will need to defend or your base will be destroyed, resulting in loss. If you manage to overpower the enemy, and crush their base instead, the fight will result in a win.
Recruit System
Rebel Skies offers players a chance to recruit some of the strongest units in the game via the innate gacha system. This system is under the name “Recruit” and unlocks when players complete the initial tutorial. Players can open unit chests by either using Recruit tokens or their Crystals. It costs 200 crystals to open a single chest, and 2000 crystals to open 10 chests in one go. This gacha system, much like many other games, depends entirely on your luck. For those unaware, all heroes and items have a specific rate of acquisition when you click on the crates. The rates and probabilities are not fully disclosed, making you wonder what the rates for summoning legendary heroes are.
There’s also a handy pity system attached that helps you out in the long run if you continue summoning the chests. This is a great mechanic for free-to-play players as they will have something to look forward to even if their luck is bad. These guaranteed rewards are available according to the number of times you summon chests. The milestones along with the rewards are as follows:
- 50 chests summoned – 1 guaranteed rare card
- 100 chests summoned – 1 guaranteed epic card
- 150 chests summoned – 1 guaranteed rare card
- 200 chests summoned – 1 guaranteed legendary card
Upgrade Lab to Empower Cards
The upgrade lab is the place where you will be able to strengthen your existing units via different processes. First up, Ascension is the process via which you can ascend your units to an even greater level. Players will need to use their collected coins in order to ascend units. After being ascended, you will see massive improvements in their base health and attack damage stats.
If you feel that a card is useless to you now, you can even choose to scrap them here. Scrapping will give you dust in exchange of destruction of the card. The higher the rarity of the card, the more dust you will get for scrapping them. Each card comes from a faction, and dust also comes in different factions. You will only get dust for the faction of card you scrapped. Lastly, you can also view the collection of all cards of all factions from this place. Filling this collection album will fetch you some extra crystals.
Playing Rebel Skies on a bigger screen of your PC or Laptop with BlueStacks without worrying about battery drainage is highly recommended.
