Levelling Up Heroes
The simplest way of upgrading your heroes is by levelling them up. You are going to need to spend Gold, EXP Drinks, Energy Drinks, and of course an upgradeable hero to do this one. Note that you cannot level up rented heroes (hired mercenary).
Levelling up increases a hero’s HP (health), ATK Power (damage dealt), and DEF (damage resisted). Subsequently, this increases a hero’s total power which is a number that summarizes their strength based on rank, skills, stats, and worn equipment. To level up a hero, click on the ‘Heroes’ tab in the main menu, select the hero that you want to upgrade, and then click on the ‘Level Up’ button.
For the most part, Gold and EXP drinks are expended for every level up. But you’ll eventually reach a level cap and at this point, you need to expend Energy Drinks to increase the cap and keep levelling up. Energy Drinks are rare compared to Gold and EXP Drinks so spend it on your strongest heroes (i.e., the ones with the highest rarity).
Wearing and Reinforcing Gear
Do you want to add bonus stat boosts to your hero? Then it is a good idea to equip them with strong gear. Gear is comprised of various clothes and weapons that provide various stat boosts depending on the quality of the item.
Gear can be easily acquired by completing campaign missions or by collecting idle or instant rewards. To equip gear, click on the ‘Heroes’ tab in the main menu, select any hero, and then click on each of the gear slots and select the desired equipment. Alternatively, you can click on the ‘Auto Equip’ button to let the game choose the equipment for you. The ‘Auto Equip’ button still works even when all slots are occupied as it automatically replaces old equipment with the strongest alternatives available in your inventory.
There are a couple of things to know about gear. For one, gear has various compatibility requirements so not all gear can be equipped by any hero. For instance, clothes come in three types: light, medium, and heavy. Support, Range, and AoE heroes wear light, melee heroes wear medium, and tank heroes wear heavy. Additionally, some equipment may only be used by certain factions but they have the added benefit of having a faction bonus (i.e., increased equipment attributes by 30%%). To know the compatibility requirements of an equipment, go to any hero and click on the equipment they’re wearing. This is also where you can see the equipment stats and info. Note that the higher quality the equipment is, the more stats that it can boost.
In the same menu, you can click on the ‘Reinforce’ button to upgrade the equipment itself. This feature is only available to equipment with blue quality (rare) or above. To reinforce equipment, you must select several spare pieces of equipment to accumulate EXP. With enough EXP, you can reinforce the equipment to a higher level in exchange for Gold by clicking on the ‘Reinforce’ button. Each equipment gives a different amount of EXP depending on its quality. For instance, gray quality (basic) equipment gives 5 EXP, green quality (common) gives 10 EXP, blue quality (rare) gives 30 EXP, and purple quality (epic) gives 250 EXP.
Boot Camp/Academy
The boot camp, otherwise known as the academy, is a very quick way to promote low-level heroes and it does so in a very interesting way.
To access the academy, click on the ‘Hideout’ tab in the main menu, click on ‘Academy’, and then click on the hero that you want to level up. In the academy, your top five strongest heroes become “mentors”. Once you select a hero, you can synchronize their level to the level of the lowest-level hero among your five mentors. So, for example, if your lowest-level mentor is Level 30, then the selected hero’s level will instantly jump to Level 30.
You can desynchronize a hero anytime by clicking on the hero and clicking on the ‘Desync’ button. A 24-hour cooldown is imposed after desynchronization, and you must wait for that to finish to allow another hero to use the academy. There are limited slots for synchronizable heroes and you can increase those slots by spending sync points or diamonds.
Command Center
Heroes are characterized by their ranks such as rare, epic, and the like. The command center is the place where you can promote your heroes to a higher rank to increase their max level and stats. The max levels of each rank are as follows:
- Common: 60
- Rare: 60
- Rare+: 80
- Epic: 100
- Epic+: 140
- Unique: 180
- Unique+: 220
- Legendary: 260
- Legendary+: 300
- Mythic: 340 (cap increases by 10 for every Mythic ascension).
To rank up a hero, click on the ‘Hideout’ tab in the main menu, click on ‘Command Center’, and the choose the hero whose rank you want to ascend. Generally, you need a duplicate of the hero to promote them to the next rank, but you may also need any hero from the same faction. The requirements differ depending on the rank the hero is ascending to.
There are some limitations to hero ascension. Common (or below) heroes cannot undergo ascension. Rare heroes can only be promoted up to the Unique+ rank and epic heroes can only be promoted up to the Mythic+5 rank.
