WWE 2K24 is the latest entry in the WWE 2K franchise and it brings a myriad of new and returning features like new match types (i.e., guest referee, casket, gauntlet, ambulance matches), MyFACTION, MyGM, and two different story arcs in MyRISE called Unleashed and Undisputed. However, one of the more interesting and underrated features is fighting styles which you can select for your custom character. Your fighting style can make or break your success in your MyRISE career, so it is important to choose wisely.

In this guide, we’ll talk about what fighting styles there are, what they do, and how to choose the best one for your character.

What is a Fighting Style?

When creating a character in WWE 2K24 MyRISE, you must select a fighting style for your custom character. The fighting style determines which superstar attributes your character will excel at. There are six superstar attributes.

How to be Unstoppable with Fighting Styles in WWE 2K24

  • Striking – determines the power of kicks and punches that your superstar gives to their opponent.
  • Grappling – determines the grappling power of your character. Having a high Grappling attribute can help in keeping the opponent in place and make them vulnerable to suplexes and other similar moves.
  • Aerial/Running – determines the ability of your character to perform aerial moves and overall speed. If you want your character to perform similarly to wrestlers like Rey Mysterio, Ricochet, and Logan Paul, then you should focus on this attribute.
  • Submission – determines the power of submission moves. If you find submission moves like Brock Lesnar’s Kimura Lock, Rhea Ripley’s Prison Trap, and John Cena’s STF, then focus on this attribute.
  • Defense – determines how much damage one can take.
  • Resilience – determines the ability to get up after being downed and escape pins and submissions.

Now that you know the six superstar attributes, you should have a good initial idea on what fighting style you will choose. There are four fighting styles in WWE 2K24.

  • Striker – excel in Striking and Stamina to throw relentless kicks and punches to your opponent.
  • Technician – excel in Grappling and Technique to keep your opponent in place and always maintain the advantage.
  • Powerhouse – produce devastating strikes and powerful grapples to become an unstoppable force.
  • High Flyer – focus on high-risk moves from the top rope to pull off quick and agile attacks on the opponent.

Choosing a fighting style all boils down to what your preferred playstyle is. Not all fighting styles can work for you. Striker is considered as the best fighting style mainly because it is an all-around fighting style. If you are a beginner in WWE 2K24, then you should probably choose Striker. However, this does not mean that other fighting styles are useless. If you want to focus on submissions, then choose Technician. If you want to focus on aerial moves, then choose High Flyer. If you want a heavy and powerful character, then choose Powerhouse.

How to Play Each Fighting Style Properly

After choosing your fighting style, it is just as important that you know how to take advantage of your style. You cannot just pick one style and mash buttons and hope that you can get the three count or submission.

Let’s start with the Striker. The Striker is the most popular fighting style because it is a good all-around style. However, this also means you’ll encounter a lot of players using this style and that increases the chances of encountering a good Striker. With strikers, building up combos and using strikes at the best time are the keys to victory. Grappling is naturally not going to be as effective as other fighting styles with Strikers however they are still useful. You must mix strikes and grabs and not rely on strikes only because your attacks are going to be easily reversable that way. Additionally, building up the special meter and stun bar is also crucial for maximizing the Striker’s damage so make sure to fill that up during the match.

Technicians are suited for submissions so it’s important to try and make your opponent vulnerable to such. You can make your opponent vulnerable to submissions by wearing down their body parts with quick attacks and grapples. A body indicator will show how damaged a wrestler’s body part is and the redder the part is, the more susceptible they are to submissions targeting that part. With that, you can start by attempting to damage an opponent and then use a submission as a finisher. In WWE 2K24, you can perform an upper body, mid-body, and lower body submission so perform the one that suits the opponent’s damaged body part. Additionally, you can also reverse a kick into a submission so you can use this method if you notice that your opponent is throwing a lot of kicks.

Powerhouses are slower wrestlers but use a lot of powerful grapples. If you want to play like Braun Strowman, Drew McIntyre, and Gunther, then this style is for you. The strategy with Powerhouses is similar to Strikers in that you have to mix strikes and grapples. Strikes are used to build stun to your opponent and eventually open them up for a powerful grapple.

High Flyer is arguably the most complicated fighting style because it involves a lot of high-risk moves. Generally, you want to always be moving when playing as a High Flyer and not act like a Striker that keeps throwing punches and kicks in one place. Keep moving while also throwing strikes from time to time until you eventually make your opponent vulnerable enough for an aerial move and finish them off.

Conclusion

The fighting style is one of the most important traits of your custom character in WWE 2K24 and choosing the most appropriate style is key to victory. Overall, the Striker style is the best all-around style; however, other styles are just as effective when used properly. The Technician style is best used for submission-focused players. The Powerhouse style is best used for grapple-focused players. And the High Flyer style is best used for players who like to take high-risk moves from the air.
