Blue Archive has just released their newest major update on 23rd July 2024. The turn-based RPG has been making the noise all month after it announced that something “major” was expected at the end of the month. On top of releasing 2 new event stories and 3 new characters, this update also features tons of new events and quality-of-life features for the players to reap benefit. New players and returning players can also rejoice as massive boost events are active to help them progress. Let’s check out everything new added with the update!

Event Story: Basking in the Brilliance of their Serenade

This special event story can be seen live as it was added on 23rd July and lasts till 6th August, roughly for 2 weeks. Players who have cleared the normal story chapter 2 stage 3 on normal difficulty will be eligible to take part in this event. This event story features 3 distinct sub-events – Task, Shop, Event Reward Claim and Exchange Shop. As with any previous Blue Archive event, you will be required to farm a special event currency to get the freebies from the exchange shop. After the event ends, the unused event currency will be changed to credit points at a 1:1 ratio. 

Players can find the story section of the event quite amusing, featuring fully animated cutscenes and backdrops to make it more interesting. Of course, the individual stages are equally rewarding as you can get Pyroxenes and event currency for each stage clear. At the bottom of the story section, you will see your total event points that you’ve accumulated. Players can use them in the event exchange shop to get juicy freebies. Perhaps one of the top rewards is a free copy of 1-star Student Ibuki that players can get by clearing the event story stage Pandemonium Society Executive Office Main Gate. 

Many quests are also available as part of the event offering Credit Points and Artifacts are completion rewards. During the course of the event, if you use certain Students, then you can get enhanced effects on top of getting more event currency. These students are as follows:

Makoto, Ako (Dress), Hina (Dress), Ibuki, Hina, Ako, Chinatsu (Hot Spring), Akari, Izumi, Megu, Sena, and Juri.

Field Exploration

A tale event that can be continued alongside Basking in the Brilliance of Their Serenade. You proceed by playing as Hina and discovering fields via her eyes. You can navigate each area using a globe map and enter fights at locations marked with a red button. As Hina, you will solve numerous problems at Gehenna Academy and improve your Piano Proficiency level as the tale progresses. The purpose of Field Exploration is to improve your piano proficiency as much as possible before the Gehenna Academy celebration begins.

You can access the Curtain Call after completing Act 5 of Field Exploration. There, you are free to explore all regions. Every day, a new quest is offered in the Curtain Call. After completing the daily task, you can improve your Piano Proficiency level with the Practice: Curtain Call quest. If the mission is not completed, it will disappear the following day at 7:00 PM. Players can earn a total of 30 Lost items in the Curtain Call. For player comfort, this game mode also supports repeat battles once they clear Act 5. Each stage can be repeatedly cleared one time per day from Stage 1 to Stage 8. Challenge stages (9-12) cannot be repeat cleared. 

Webview Event – Emergency Report

The webview event allows players to view highlight episodes and get rewards. You can access it from the top right-hand side event banners. You will be redirected to a web page. Simply log in and fill in your credentials. Check out the reports added in the event and view them. Each report will end with an image of a student popping up with a gift. Claiming the gift will send it to your in-game mailbox. You can get gifts for each individual student report.

Special Gifts – 100 Free Recruitments!

In celebration of this major update, the developers have added a huge cherry on top of the cake – 100 FREE SUMMONS! Players can make these free summons on the newest Makoto and Ako (Dress) banner. The event can already be seen live in-game as it was started on 23rd July 2024. Players can get 10 or 20 free summons on the banner each day for 7 days. These summons are retroactive, which means that even if you log in on the 7th day, you will still be able to get all the 100 summons. 

Quality of Life Improvements and New Features

In lieu of the major update, several QOL improvements and new features have been added. Check them out:

• Korean voice overs have now been added. Players need to download them separately and can change the voice from Settings.
• Certain Striker pupils and T.S. students now interact during battles.
• When viewing the tooltip for a specific talent, you may now check other related skills as well. 
• You can now verify the Unit Formation that you used to complete each action.
• You can now clone troops from another user’s presets in Total Assault, Grand Assault, and other ranking information.
• The starting skills of other users will be presented based on their Total Assault, Grand Assault, and other ranking statistics.
• Added distinctive interactive victory movements for deploying specific combinations of students and winning the war.
•  Misaki, Nonomi, and Hanae now have unique items (for Christmas).
