Monkey Troops
There are four different types of monkey troops with each type having their own styles of attack as well as strengths and weaknesses. They also have their own training camps. Let’s get to know each type of monkey troop.
- Hitters – melee troops that are very good at smashing enemies.
- Pilots – scooter drivers that can move and shoot enemies quickly.
- Shooters – long-range troops that can take out enemies from a distance.
- Wall Breakers – big cannon-loaded trucks that are effective against sentry towers.
When fighting against mutants or other players’ troops, it is important to take note each troop’s strengths and weaknesses.
Monkey Troop Type | Dominates | Weak Against |
Hitters | Pilots | Shooters |
Pilots | Shooters | Hitters |
Shooters | Hitters | Pilots |
Wall Breakers | Sentry Towers | Hitters, Pilots, Shooters |
Regardless of type, monkey troops have the same stats that determine their general strength.
- Power – indicates the “level” of the troop.
- Attack – the amount of damage dealt to enemies.
- Defence – the amount of damage resisted from enemy attacks.
- Health – the amount of damage they can take before being wounded.
- Marching Speed – the speed at which they march towards mutants.
- Load – the amount of space that they take up when transferred to the parade ground.
Troops are trained in their respective camps. After training, they are transferred to the parade ground where they await deployment to engage mutants. The parade ground allows you to view information about your troops such as the total troops, troops power, marching queues, and healing capacity. It also details the amount of each troop type that you have in or out of the city. Upgrading the parade ground increases the maximum amount of troops you can have and at certain levels, the amount of marching queues. The more marching queues you have, the more battalions of troops you can deploy at the same time. Essentially, troops and the parade ground are deeply tied to one another.

Upgrading Troops
You can increase both the quantity and quality of your troops by upgrading their camps and investing in military research respectively.
As mentioned, each troop type has its own camp in which they can be trained. These camps can be upgraded to increase its training capacity, allowing you to train more troops at once. Additionally, it also increases the attack power and building power once it reaches certain levels. Camp upgrades require food and iron resources which can be acquired from quests, exploring the map, and more.
Once you unlock the Research Lab, you can invest resources into upgrading your military. Under the “Military Technology” category, you can research various aspects of your military such as their training speed, marching speed, marching capacity, and the damage dealt by your troops. Research in the lab is sequential which means that you must fully research the previous node before unlocking the next. Often, nodes must be researched five times to be considered complete. You can take multiple paths to reach the next upgrade. Taking certain research paths unlocks higher-level versions of each type of monkey troop that you can then train in their respective camps.
The Research Lab can be upgraded by spending food, iron, and batteries (can be acquired from daily tasks and impasse trials). Upgrading the lab boosts the research speed (for all categories) and building power and allows you to research further as some nodes cannot fully upgrade without the lab being at a certain level.
Fighters
Every powerful army needs to have a set of good leaders. This is where fighters come in, which are special soldiers who are skilled in leading regular monkey troops to victory.
Fighters are defined by several attributes: level, star level, skills, talents, and stats. All fighters have the same stats and these determine what skill they specialize in. There are five stats in the game which are: Damage, Skills, Gather, Hunt, and Survival. Below their stats, you can view the type of troop the fighter is best suited in leading, what they are good at, and what skills they are adept at using. For instance, Scott is suited for leading hitters, good at hunting neutral groups, and good at using active skills.
There are two ways to upgrade a fighter: regular level up and star level up. Levelling up normally increases the power rating of the fighter and is spent using EXP cards. Cards can be acquired through various means such as defeating mutants and gigantos, Colin’s exploration, impasse trials, challenges, and more. Once you reach the level cap, the fighter must level up their star level to keep upgrading.
Fighters have four skills that allow them to attack mutants in unique ways and give themselves an advantage during battle. Three of those four skills are passive while the remaining one is active. Skills are unlocked as you upgrade the fighter’s star level. Existing skills can be upgraded by spending medals. Note that medals are specific to the character, and you cannot use one fighter’s medals to upgrade another fighter’s skills.
Aside from skills, fighters also have talents. Talent points can be acquired by levelling up a fighter. These points can then be spent on developing growth paths for talent trees. Functionally, it is very similar to investing in the Research Lab in that both use a sequential upgrading system. Each node in the talent tree upgrades various aspects of the troops that they are leading as well as provide bonus boosts to themselves or other fighters they may be fighting alongside with.
Spending enough points on a talent tree unlock its respective talent skill. For instance, spending 50 points on Scott’s Hitter branch unlocks the “Change Formation” skill which allows him to increase troop attacks and marching speed by 2% each when the troop count falls below 50%.
