Understanding the Combat System
One of the best parts about playing Ambition of Kings is that you can enjoy multiple genres at once! The core gameplay revolves around constructing and upgrading new buildings, while the combat takes place in a turn-based system. Dominate the former with focus and precision, and the latter with strategy and tact. Players can make up different team compositions, each constituting of a tank, healer, and damage dealer. These roles are quite crucial for any successful team composition, as the game’s strategy revolves around their usage. We would recommend checking up a thorough tier list for the strongest heroes in the game as of global launch.
The combat is completely real-time in nature, giving players little to no control over their characters. Each character charges up their own rage bar by executing abilities, getting kills on enemies, and/or taking damage. Once this Rage bar is fully charged up, you can see their avatars glow with fire, indicating that their ultimate ability is ready to be used. The developers have done a great job at animating the abilities of all the heroes, giving them more authenticity and a factor of awe! For ease of playing, a host of quality-of-life features are also given such as 3X battle speed, auto battle, and skip battles. Players can unlock these features as they progress in the main campaign mode.
