Azur Lane Scylla Guide – Class, Skills, Gear, and Optimal Fleets

HMS Scylla is a Super Rare (SR) 6-star light cruiser in Azur Lane, representing the Royal Navy’s Dido-class. Introduced during the “Revelations of Dust” event, she is obtainable through limited construction. Scylla is characterized by her exceptional anti-air capabilities and supportive skills, making her a valuable asset in various fleet compositions. This guide will explore her class, abilities, and gearing requirements in detail for players to utilize her potential to the fullest. Let’s begin!
Scylla – All Skills Explained
Much like any other ship, Scylla also has access to 3 distinct abilities that can be used in combat scenarios to decimate your enemies. These are as follows:
How Pathetic – Each time Scylla fires her Main Guns, her Firepower (FP) and Anti-Air (AA) stats increase by 1.5% (up to a maximum of 5%) per stack, stacking up to six times. Once fully stacked, she grants a 15% (up to 25%) AA boost to all Vanguard ships with lower AA stats than hers for the remainder of the battle.
Scylla’s Embrace – At the start of battle, if there are other ships in the Vanguard, Scylla’s Torpedo (TRP) and Evasion (EVA) stats increase by 10% (up to 20%). When she fires her torpedoes, she launches a special barrage (damage scales with skill level), and enemies hit by this barrage take 6% increased aircraft damage for 6 seconds. Additionally, if six enemy aircraft are shot down within the Vanguard’s AA gun range, allied carriers (CVs and CVLs) receive 5% (up to 15%) reduced damage while Scylla is afloat.
All Out Assault – Activates a special barrage every 15 (down to 10 at max level) Main Gun attacks. If equipped with a Destroyer (DD) Main Gun, the activation requirement is reduced to six attacks.
Gear Recommendations for Scylla
To maximize Scylla’s performance, consider the following equipment recommendations:
Main Gun: Equipping a Destroyer Main Gun can expedite the activation of her All Out Assault skill, allowing for more frequent barrages.
Torpedoes: Utilize high-damage torpedoes to capitalize on her torpedo efficiency and the special barrage triggered by her “Scylla’s Embrace” skill.
Anti-Air Guns: Given her high AA stat and role, equipping the most effective AA guns available will enhance her ability to protect the fleet from aerial threats.
Auxiliary Equipment: Consider items that further boost her AA capabilities or improve her survivability, such as AA radars or repair tools.
Class and Role in Fleets
As a Dido-class light cruiser, Scylla serves as an anti-air specialist within the Vanguard. Her skills not only bolster her own combat effectiveness but also provide significant support to the fleet, particularly in enhancing AA defenses and reducing damage to carriers.
Best Fleet Compositions for Scylla
Scylla excels in fleets that benefit from strong anti-air support and can take advantage of her synergies with carriers. Consider the following fleet setups:
- Carrier-Centric Fleets: Pairing Scylla with carriers allows her “Scylla’s Embrace” skill to reduce incoming damage to these vital units, enhancing fleet durability.
- Vanguard Combinations: Combining Scylla with other light cruisers or destroyers that have complementary skills can create a balanced Vanguard capable of handling both aerial and surface threats effectively.
In summary, HMS Scylla is a versatile light cruiser whose skills and stats make her a formidable anti-air asset and a supportive presence in various fleet compositions. Properly equipping and positioning her within a fleet can significantly enhance overall performance, particularly in scenarios with heavy aerial opposition.
