Understanding the Summoning System
Demian Saga is a gacha game that allows players to summon for different rarities of heroes from different types of summoning banners. Each rarity of hero has a different probability of being acquired. The higher the rarity of the hero, the lower will be the chance of summoning them. The lower the rarity of the hero, the higher will be the chance of summoning them. This system is often frowned upon due to its core factor being simply luck or RNG (Random Number Generator). However, it’s crucial to understand the entire system as you will be spending most of your time here to acquire new heroes.
Here are the different rarities of heroes and their rates:
- SSR Heroes – 4% Probability of being summoned
- SR Heroes – 46% Probability of being summoned
- R Heroes – 50% Probability of being summoned
Here are the different summoning banners available for all players:
- General Summoning Banner – In this type of summoning banner, players can summon SSR-R rarity of heroes with a fixed probability. The banner is available permanently from the launch of the game till the end of service. Players can make infinite summons in this banner, provided they have enough summoning currency. The pity for this banner exists at 30 summons, where the 30th summon is guaranteed to be an SSR hero if an SSR hero is not summoned before.
- Regional Summoning Banner – In this type of summoning banner, players can summon SSR-R rarity of heroes with a fixed probability but from a specific region. This summoning banner lets you choose the region of heroes you want to summon. Players can also set their top 5 Wished heroes when summoning. The heroes on the Wishlist will have a higher chance of being summoned if you manage to summon a SSR hero. The pity for this banner exists at 30 summons, where the 30th summon is guaranteed to be an SSR hero if an SSR hero is not summoned before.
- Friendship Summoning Banner – In this type of summoning banner, players can summon SSR-R at a lower probability than your usual banner. The SSR rate is only 2% while SR rate is 23%. Players can set their top 5 Wished heroes when summoning. The heroes on the Wishlist will have a higher chance of being summoned if you manage to summon a SSR hero. Sadly, there exists no pity on this summoning banner.
- Paid SSR Guaranteed Summoning Banner – In this type of summoning banner, players can summon SSR-R at the standard probability mentioned above. This is a paid only summoning banner. This banner allows players to guarantee a SSR hero in 10 summons. This banner will disappear once the 10 summons are made.
Here is a brief overview of the different summoning currencies used:
- Gems – A consumable currency that is used to summon heroes in the General Summoning Banner. Players can get Gems from different areas in the game. We will learn more about their acquisition and usage in the next section.
- Normal Recruit Ticket – A consumable resource that is used to summon heroes in the General Summoning Banner. Players can get these tickets from completing different missions such as daily missions, stage missions, and event missions. Events also offer these tickets.
- Nation Recruit Ticket – A consumable resource that is used to summon heroes in the Regional Summoning Banner. Players can get these tickets from completing different missions and in-game events.
- Friendship Points – A consumable resource that is used to summon heroes in the Friendship Summoning Banner. Players can get these points from interacting with your friends or if they interact with your profile.
- Carat – A consumable currency that is used to summon heroes in the Paid Summoning banner. Players can get more Carats by directly purchasing them via in-game microtransactions.
Understanding the Major Currencies
Any gacha game is incomplete without their extensive list of in-game currencies. Do not let them deter your experience as they are introduced in the game to classify the different areas of the game. For example, summoning related activities have their own currencies, PvE game modes have their own set of currencies, PvP game modes have their own set of currencies, and so on. They are not as complex as they might appear to be at the beginning of the game.
Understanding the usage of the 3 main currencies will make your progression a lot smoother without you having to constantly think whether you made the right decision or not. Here are the 3 major currencies of Demian Saga:
- Rum – This is an auto-replenishable currency that recharges over time. Akin to energy or stamina in other similar games, Rum is one of the 3 great pillars on which your rate of progression stands. A higher supplement of Rum allows the player to farm more PvE content and gain more resources. Also, you can get more resources as you level up your account and move ahead in the Adventure mode. Rum can also be bought by using your Gems at the cost of 20 Rum for 50 Gems. This refilling can be done up to 20 times per day. Players can also get Rum upon levelling up or via events/new player activities.
- Gems – This is a premium currency that does not replenish over time. As we have talked about previously, Gems are primarily used to do recruitments in the summoning banners. A higher Gem count allows the player to summon more powerful heroes and build an overall stronger team. Gems are also used to purchase other currencies such as Rum and Gold, although this is not recommended as a new player. Players can get more Gems over time from completing missions, new player tasks, adventure mode, and events. Sometimes, Gems are also given by the developers via in-game mail or through redeem codes.
- Gold – Gold is another important currency that allows the player to make their account stronger. A higher rate of Gold allows players to enhance their heroes faster and upgrade their equipment in an easier way. Much like Gems, Gold is not a replenishable currency but it is available in abundance via different sources. Gold can be acquired via different missions, events, and idle farming.
Understanding the Combat Mechanics
The combat mechanics of Demian Saga are not very complex to understand. Being an input-based game, the core mechanics do not allow players to have much manual control over their heroes in battles. The only control that player has over their heroes are the ultimate ability usage timings. Their ultimate gauge increases upon dealing damage to enemies, killing enemies, and taking damage. Once it is full, you can tap on the glowing portrait and cast their ultimate ability.
A big mechanic to understand is “National Chemistry”. For players who do not know, your team composition gains extra stats just by configuring heroes from the same nation or friendly nations. Each hero in Demian Saga is assigned a Nation from where they originate. Each Nation, on the other hand, has both friends and enemies. For every friendly nation, your team composition gets 1 Point while for having heroes from the same nation, the team composition gets 2 Points. The maximum points that can be obtained for any team composition are 20. Here are the different bonuses offered to teams via the National Chemistry:
2 Points or above: Attack Increase Rate + 1% / HP Increase Rate + 1%
8 Points or above: Attack Increase Rate + 2% / HP Increase Rate + 2%
14 Points or above: Attack Increase Rate + 3% / HP Increase Rate + 3%
20 Points (MAX): Attack Increase Rate + 4% / HP Increase Rate + 4%
Here are the different nations and their relations:
- Everwood – Everwood is friendly with Akeroth and Elysion nations but not friendly with Poseia and Gigantria nations.
- Poseia– Poseia is friendly with Akeroth and Gigantria nations but not friendly with Everwood and Elysion nations.
- Elysion – Elysion is friendly with Everwood and Gigantria nations but not friendly with Poseia and Akeroth nations.
- Gigantria – Gigantria is friendly with Poseia and Elysion nations but not friendly with Akeroth and Everwood nations.
- Akeroth – Akeroth is friendly with Everwood and Poseia nations but not friendly with Elysion and Gigantria nations.
- Neutral – The main character Jaden is neutral towards all nations.
