If you’re struggling to clear the game’s story mode, we’ve crafted a thorough guide for beginners to help them clear the game. Let’s begin!
Understand the Core Gameplay Mechanics of Duck Detective: Secret Salami
For those unaware, there are 2 versions of Duck Detective: Secret Salami, a free version and a paid version. In this guide, we will be covering only the story mode seen in the free version as that is accessible to all players. The entire game is relatively short but the impact it has had on players is immeasurable. Becoming a cult classic after only a year of release is quite a big achievement. Starting from the beginning, you play through seven chapters, also known as “Deducktions” in official terminology. These are as follows in order:
- The Nest Egg
- The Entrance
- The Suspects
- The Client and More Suspects
- The Presents
- The Message and The Business
- The Receptionist and More Business
Deducktion #1. The Nest Egg
The story begins in Eugene McQuacklin’s fairly depressing apartment. The Nest Egg focuses on setting the tone and getting to know the protagonist. Examine everything in the room, including the papers on the floor, the loaf of bread, the phone on the desk, and everything else you see. After all, in this game, observation is essential.
Answer – Mr. McQuacklin had spent his last savings on buying bread.
Deducktion #2. The Entrance
Be mindful of all the signs and notes that will appear in front of you at The Entrance. Make sure you read each one attentively. Most importantly, attempt to speak with everyone you encounter! That is the only way to begin gathering useful evidence to solve the mystery of the missing salami.
Answer – Sophie is scared and upset due to receiving a terrifying note.
Deducktion #3. The Suspects
This crocodile seems strange. Ask him as many questions as possible. There’s a green bag sitting next to his desk, indicating that he might be our burglar! Maybe it’s a good idea to inspect his computer as well; who knows what he’s hiding there! The Suspects stage focuses on interrogations.
Answer – Laura had hired Detective Duck to find her stolen lunch.
Deducktion #4. The Client and More Suspects
The sheep holding the whisk seemed too nice to be a robber. But, don’t let the appearance deceive you. Concentrate on each subject in the room individually, and do not skip anyone. Regarding the lady with the whisk, look at her hair just above her right ear. Perhaps this will provide you with some of the answers you need to draw the correct conclusions in The Client and More Suspects deduction.
Answer – Sophie works as a receptionist. Manfred is the Branch Manager. Laura works in customer service. Freddy works at the operational office.
Deducktion #5. The Presents
Sophie’s gifts include a plushie and a necklace. However, we are more interested in the book. Concentrate on every corner of the page and read the note carefully. Perhaps you’ll discover clues there.
Answer – Laura gifted Sophie a plushie. Rufus gave Sophie a book. Boris gave Sophie a necklace. Nothing got stolen
Deducktion #6. The Message and the Business
For this one, you may need to go outside into the parking lot. As it will be raining outside, make sure you bring an umbrella because you’ll be conversing to Boris outside for a while. You must gather every detail available for The Message and The Business.
Answer – Salamis are being illegally imported from Salsiccia
Deducktion #7. The Receptionist and More Business
This is where the plot deepens and the true reality comes to surface. Check every single box in the room, including the electrical wires. Eventually, you’ll come across a safe full with clues. The code for the safe is 214. Who knows, perhaps that is the final clue to arresting the salami thief.
Answer – Sophie was kidnapped as she wanted to snitch. Manfred is the salami thief. Sophie is an accomplice. Boris is an accomplice.
