4-3-3
The 4-3-3 formation is one of the most popular formations in the game.
The 4-3-3 formation evenly distributes players all around the field, which gives your team an offensive advantage and better chances of possessing the ball. The main disadvantage of this formation is that it makes you more vulnerable in the midfield.
5-3-2
The 5-3-2 formation provides the most opportunities for counter attacks.
This formation gives you the most defense thanks to the five players positioned in front of the goalpost. Because of this, forward and central midfielders have more freedom and would not have to worry too much about retreating to turn defensive. Make the most out of this formation by deploying players with the Build Up, The Destroyer, Creative Playmaker, and Extra Frontman playstyles.
4-3-1-2
The 4-3-1-2 formation is just as good and popular as the 4-3-3 formation.
This formation is essentially the 4-3-3 formation but more optimized for the midfield and gives you a good counter-attack capability. The two players in front should preferably have the Poacher playstyle to maximize chances of scoring goals. The lone player should preferably be an Attacking Midfielder (AMF) with the Hole Player playstyle. The three players can be Defensive Midfielders (DMFs) and Central Midfielders (CMFs).
4-4-2
The 4-4-2 formation gives you the needed flexibility for a possession-based game.
The midfield consists of the Left Midfield, Right Midfield, and Central Midfields or Defensive Midfields between them. This midfield setup allows for good offensive play. Note that the defensive line would need to depend on your midfield so make sure to select good players for the latter. Ideally, midfielders with the Box-to-Box playstyle should be deployed.
3-1-4-2
If your aim is to score as many goals as possible, then this formation is for you.
The defensive line only comprises of three defenders behind one aggressive defender. This is then followed by a Left Midfield, Right Midfield, and Central Midfields or Defensive Midfields between them. Players with the Box-to-Box playstyle are recommended for the midfield.
