Tips & Tricks to Playing Epic War: Thrones
Playing Epic War: Thrones as a new player can feel pretty slow and that you’re not achieving anything relevant because all the other players are simply progressing faster than you. The biggest reason why it feels like that is because the game favors those that have the knowledge to secure advantages using the knowledge that they have of playing the game. Those with more time often shine the brightest in the game but even those who have a limited schedule can still catch up.
Unless you’re a long-time veteran with a lot of real-life resources to spend in the game, it may be impossible to reach the top 1 spot. However, reaching the top spot is only one of the many goals that you can achieve in the game that you can do by yourself or with other players in the game. Even though you can do a lot of content as a group, it’s still a good idea to be a contributing factor so that you can enjoy the game as much as the other players. These tips and tricks will help you do just that.
Replacing Territory Tiles
One thing that beginners don’t do often is replacing their territory tiles. This should be done once the player fills up their territory slots and has become stronger. At the beginning of the game, it’s recommended that you take all the tiles that you can as soon as possible to boost your resource production and put your kingdom ahead of other players. However, once you reach a certain point, you’ll need to discard Level 1 & 2 tiles to make way for stronger tiles and boost your production further.
The most important thing to keep in mind is having a full territory list. We’ve already discussed most of the points here on our Economy Guide which you should read if you haven’t already. There’s also the option to upgrade your existing territory tiles which is a lot easier than conquering one from scratch. However, this option can be extremely risky if you have aggressive neighbors that are trying to take tiles that you own which will reset the level if they decide to destroy it.
Make Use of Sentry Camps
Sentry camps are one of the most important strategic elements in Epic War: Thrones’ warfare. These structures allow players to expand their area of influence without the need to keep occupying random tiles just to reach an enemy. These structures will allow the player to travel farther away from their main city to do tasks like attacking enemy units or crusading certain areas on the map. It also provides a strategical advantage when you’re with an alliance that is at war.
Additionally, players can upgrade their sentry camps to introduce more features. For example, upgrading a sentry camp to a tent camp will allow the player to recruit more units and replenish their forces from that area instead of having them retreat all the way to the main kingdom which can be time-consuming. Since camps take a while to construct and upgrade, it’s a good idea to keep a legion stationed to defend it since other players might try to destroy it while you’re away.
Keep the Kingdom Busy
Keeping the kingdom busy means that your city should always be doing something. Inside the city, players should always be constructing or upgrading a structure or tech, spending their copper to open up additional building queues that will multiply their progression tremendously. In addition, players should also always recruit more reserves to add to their army and train their commanders so that they’ll continuously gain experience without losing troops from other methods.
Outside of your main city, your legions should also always be busy doing tasks such as gathering resources or occupying new tiles. As mentioned before, you can also send your troops to upgrade existing tiles so that you gain better resource production without the need to send your best troops to the slaughter. By keeping your account active, you ensure that you’re progressing much faster than 70% of the server’s population which should land you in the top 100 of the server.
Upgrading Prestige
Prestige is like your account’s level. You can level up your prestige by doing missions. Prestige is extremely important because it allows the player to increase their territory limit and occupy more tiles, which will boost their economy quickly. Additionally, upgrading your prestige also rewards you with a random unit that you can use to add to your legion, appoint in court, or use as a sacrifice to gain better skills for your other generals that you are currently using for other stuff.
The game makes it easy to follow quests since it redirects you to what you need to do whenever you click on a task you want to do. The early game quests are extremely easy so it’s a good idea to complete as many as you can so that you gain a ton of territory slots that you can use to improve your kingdom’s standing in the game.
Join an Alliance
Joining an alliance is one of the most important things that you can do in any real-time strategy game because it secures your future and eliminates any threat that comes your way. By joining a relatively strong alliance, other players will be discouraged to attack you because they fear that your alliance will retaliate against them, allowing you to do what you want freely. However, it can also act as a double-edged sword if your alliance is at war with another alliance in the region.
The most important thing to keep in mind when joining an alliance is to find the strongest or most influential one in your region. Joining a weak and inactive alliance is dead-weight and you won’t get a ton of rewards from doing so. It’s a good idea to look at the server rankings and determine which choices you have in your region so that you can join one that will be worth your time and effort.
