Eroica Beginners Guide – Learn to Progress Efficiently
Titled as a “heartfelt RPG”, Eroica has recently been launched in the global market on both Android and iOS platforms as a free-to-play title. After being tested thoroughly by over 300,000 players in an official open beta phase, the game has decided to launch for the global regions to increase its reach and give everybody a chance of playing Eroica. Developed and published by the makers of Monster Legends, FourThirtyThree INC, the game is a direct entry into the popular anime-stylized turn-based RPG genre which is dominated by the likes of Epic Seven, Exos Heroes, Dislyte, Summoners War: Sky Arena, and many more. Boasting over 500,000 downloads in the first 3 days since its release, Eroica definitely seems to be climbing up the rankings of popularity.
Contradictory to many other anime-stylized RPGs, the focus of Eroica seems to be entirely on its strategic turn-based battle system and presentation of its characters. As mentioned by the developers, Eroica’s characters feel fresh and original from the heart. Each character, called a hero in official game terminology feels unique and has their own back story as to how they interact with the rest of the heroes in the fictional world of Arkham. One of the best aspects of Eroica might be its fun-filled and tactical combat system where players create and form a team of 4 different heroes and take them in battles. The battles are highly energetic with tons of QOL features given to players. Each hero has his/her own special animated sequence for their ultimate abilities. The graphical effects and particle effects for heroes’ skills and abilities are nothing to laugh about either as they are mesmerizing to look at.
In this beginner’s guide for Eroica, we will be trying our best to the majority of the basics associated with the game to make efficient progression in little time. With the game still brand new, we will try our best to keep it focused on new players. Hence, the term “Beginner’s Guide”. For ease of navigation and overview-centered approach, we will be dividing our beginner’s guide for Eroica into 5 different sections. Each of the sections will be discussed thoroughly to make sure players get the most accurate information without a doubt in their minds. Here are the topics that we will be covering in-depth in this beginner’s guide:

- Missions and Rewards
Understanding the Summoning System
Eroica is a hero-collector game where players are required to summon their favorite heroes using the intricate summoning system that is built inside the game. This summoning system can be accessed in the main menu and unlocks after players have completed their tutorial. Eroica uses gacha mechanics which we all hate and love at the same time. As the system is entirely dependent on a lottery-like style, we won’t recommend getting too addictive. However, to give a preview of how the system works and performs, we will list some of the basic mechanics and a healthy way of acquiring heroes as well. Inside the summon tab, players will notice different types of summoning banners.
Each banner is represented by a different sub-section and they offer different types of things. Firstly, to keep it clear, Eroica is not just a hero-collector. Players can summon heroes, pre-cores, and gear as well using the Summon system. It’s a good system where each of them has separate banners so players need not experience a mixed gacha. We will also not be listing the paid banners where players can only summon using the purchased premium currency. Some of the main banners that all new players will be seeing are as follows:
- Infinite Summoning Gacha (1-time) – This type of gacha banner is used for summoning 1-3 Star heroes infinitely at the start of the game. It is extremely for new players who are coming to the game. Keep in mind that players can summon 10 different heroes at the same time up to 30 times. Each draw is guaranteed to summon a 3-Star hero. Players cannot get more than 1 3-Star hero so do not waste your team in re-rolling on this banner. Players do not need to use any summoning currencies to make summons on this banner.
- Pickup Summon – This type of gacha banner is used for summoning 1–3-star heroes. Players will have a higher chance of summoning the featured hero if they are able to summon a 3-Star hero in the first place.
- Group Summon – This type of gacha is used for summoning 1-3 Star heroes. Players will be able to have a higher chance of summoning the featured heroes out of the other heroes if they are able to summon a 3-Star hero.
- Present Summon – This type of gacha banner is used for summoning 1–3-star heroes. Players will be able to summon all the heroes that are available to be recruited from this banner.
- Pre-Core Summon – This type of gacha banner is used for summoning R-SSR Pre-cores. Players will be able to summon all the Pre-Cores that are available to be recruited from this banner.
- Gear Summon – This type of gacha banner is used for summoning the different rarity of gears using your pellets.
We highly recommend players take a look at the featured hero gacha banner when they start the game. It’s one of the best ways to get your hands on the newest hero that is added to the game. Eroica offers the different rarity of heroes at different probabilities of being summoned in all of the gacha banners. As per tradition, the highest rarity of heroes has the lowest probability of being summoned while the lowest rarity of heroes has the highest probability of being summoned.
The probabilities of summoning the different rarity of heroes are as follows:
- 3-Star Heroes – 3% Probability of being summoned
- 2-Star Heroes – 22% Probability of being summoned
- 1-Star Heroes – 75% Probability of being summoned
Players need different currencies to summon on different banners in-game. The different currencies which are used during summons in the Summon system are:
- Free Pellets – Free Pellets is the currency that is used for summoning on all banners that are not listed as paid banners. Players require 30 Free Pellets for a single summons or 300 Free Pellets for 10 summons on any summoning banner.
- Paid Pellets – Paid Pellets are the currency that is used for summoning on all banners that are listed as paid banners. Players require 30 Paid Pellets for a single summon or 300 Free Pellets for 10 summons on any summoning banner.
- Pick-Up Tickets – Pick-Up tickets are the summoning currency that is used for summoning on the featured summoning banner and group summoning banner. They are represented by blue color.
- Present Tickets – Present tickets are the summoning currency that is used for summoning on the present summoning banner. They are represented by white color.
Understanding The Currencies
Eroica is one of those gacha games that is extremely easy to get a hang of for veterans of the genre as the game has some familiar systems in place that are seen in similar titles. However, for new players that are not adept at the basics of the game, it all might sound confusing at first. It’s highly important to understand the basic currencies that are at play in-game. These currencies play a very important role in how much you will be able to progress in the early days when you being your journey in Eroica. These currencies can be seen in the middle of the main menu and are as follows:
- Wing Boot
- Pellets
- Gold
Wing Boot is like the Stamina currency that is available in similar titles of the same genre. Wing Boots are located at the top left-hand side of the main menu and it is a recurring currency. Players will be thrilled to know that Wing Boots regenerate over time automatically, making it an AFK resource. Wing Boots are the core of any game mode as they are required to even play the game. Almost all of the content in the game except Crucible Trials and Arena require Wing Boots to be entered and played. Players will require ample amounts of Wing Boots to grind the main story stages fast and increase the account level. Wing Boots can also be purchased directly at the rate of 50 Wing Boots for 10 Free Pellets. Players can purchase up to 250 Wing Boots in total for 50 Free Pellets in a single day. They are also available abundantly from the different events and missions.
Pellets are the premium currency of Eroica and it is primarily used for making summons. As we mentioned beforehand, Pellets also come in different types – Free Pellets and Paid Pellets. Free Pellets are accessible for all players and are what all free-to-play players will use. They are available in good quantities in the early game from main story stages and event clears. However, their availability gets scarcer and scarcer as you progress throughout the game. Paid Pellets are available only through the shop when players purchase pellets using micro-transactions costing real-life money. Free and Paid Pellets can also be used for purchasing extra Gold and Wing Boots in the resource shop.
Gold is one of the most abundantly available currencies in Eroica. It can be compared to the likes of Gold in other similar games. Gold is abundantly available because it is required in large quantities in almost all processes. It is largely collected from farming in-game dungeons or through the specific gold dungeon which has 3 limited tries daily. Players can also get Gold from selling their useless gear and pre-cores. Another way to get Gold is to directly buy them using Free Pellets.
Understanding the Combat Mechanics of Eroica
Eroica is not your average turn-based battler as the game has some depth attached to it for the joy of strategy lovers. Despite following a linear turn-based combat system, the interior mechanics of the battles are what makes the game distinguishable from other similar titles. The combat system is easier to learn but difficult to master. Players need to strategize their formation of heroes for each scenario as the game’s inherent element system also plays a big part in how much damage heroes take and deal to each other. In general, it’s highly recommended to start your account with a powerful hero that is listed at the top of the tier list to make your progression in the main story stages easy. Players can refer to a tier list for Eroica to get a better understanding of the best heroes in the game. For the basics, players will need to design a team that contains 4 different heroes. Each hero that is deployed on the battlefield is recommended to hold Pre-Cores to make them stronger. Players can do this by going to the Team tab on the main screen after clicking on the “Hero” tab.
The combat system of Eroica is quite simple to understand. Players start out the battles with all of the abilities of heroes on cooldown except their basic skills. Each turn the heroes take adds to the Soul Counter located at the bottom right-hand side of the screen. Players can make use of skills that are on cooldown by using the number of souls denoted for the skill. Understanding and making use of Souls is one of the best ways to perform efficiently in battles. All of the skills are tap-targeted toward heroes. Other mechanics include the different buffs and debuffs present in-game that can greatly decide the fate of your team in battles. The active effects of Pre-cores can also be used by clicking on the sun-like structure located at the bottom right-hand side of the battle screen. Players can fill the Pre-Core meter by taking turns or by skipping their turn for a great increase in the pre-core meter.
Increase the Strength of your Heroes
Progression in Eroica is not limited to your player rank but also how strong your heroes are. Being a hero-collector and battler, your heroes are the key to winning battles in the end and the stronger they are, the higher the chances of your success. To enhance your heroes, players will first need to access them. Go to the Heroes tab located on the left-hand side of the main menu to access the heroes’ sub-section.
In this section, players will find different ways to power up their heroes. All the systems present in Eroica to strengthen your heroes are as follows:
- Leveling Up
- Runes
- Ascend
- Skills
- Equipment
- Pre-Cores
Leveling Up refers to directly increasing the level of your heroes. It is one of the best methods to increase your hero’s strength as players increase the base stats of the hero as they level them. Each hero requires Battle Experience in order to level up. This experience can be gained by either repeatedly grinding story stages/dungeons or feeding some EXP Potions by going to the hero menu and selecting the desired hero. Players can only increase the level of the hero according to the current ascension level of the hero. Once maxed, players will need to ascend the hero to gain more levels.
Runes are the most useful enhancement feature that every player should focus on. Players need to level up multiple rune pages of the hero in order to fully unlock their true potential. Runes require lots of Gold and specific elemental runes to engrave. They act as a direct stat boost which increases the base stats of the heroes. Players need to focus on engraving and leveling up runes due to their limited availability. Players can acquire them only for a limited time daily from the Ancient Runes game mode. Runes increase the following stats of all heroes:
- HP
- Attack
- Attack Speed
- Defense
- Accuracy
- Dodge
- Penetration
Skills of all heroes can be upgraded to give them a better effect chance, increase their damage ratios, increase buff duration, increase debuff duration, or simply add an extra effect. Further, the passive skills of heroes can be upgraded to increase the stats of abilities and provide extra effects to the abilities.
Ascension in Eroica refers to increasing the base-star value of heroes. Players can do this only if they have sufficient fragments for the hero they desire to ascend. Players require to Ascend heroes to increase their level cap and make them stronger by increasing their base stats. Ascensions are quite tedious to achieve since the only direct way to get Hero Fragments is through using your Gold Passports and other currencies in the Amil Shop.
Pre-Cores are some special cards that are obtained only through the Pre-Core summons or Nya Dungeon. Some Pre-Cores can also be acquired from the Present Summons and the new player growth missions. Just like heroes, Pre-cores can also be upgraded to add to their stats. The stats provided by Pre-Cores are not additive to base stats but just an extra stat that is added on top of the base stats. Every Pre-Core also comes with an Active Effect and Passive Effect. Pre-Cores also come in different rarities just like heroes with the lowest rarity being N (Normal) and the highest rarity being SSR (Super Super Rare).
