In this beginners guide, we will be diving deeper into the game’s mechanics and studying what type of game modes are available for players to embark on as a cat!
I Am Cat – How to Enjoy the Game to the Fullest
In I Am Cat, players are firstly tasked with a location to explore to the fullest. This choice can be made in the home main menu itself and you are free to decide which location you want to pursue. In the beginning, there are only a few locations available to be explored as a free-to-play player. While some are locked behind completion of previous stages, others are simply locked behind a microtransaction wall. Interested cat role-players can choose to purchase the full game for an ad-free and enhanced gaming experience. With that out of the way, let’s go a little bit deeper into how the game functions.
The entire game plays out on a horizontal landscape, enhanced thanks to being built on the Unreal engine. The game elements come to life, and depending on the location you have chosen, the colors appear vivid and crystal clear. This is clearly a reference on how acute the vision of a cat normally is compared to a human. Once you have chosen a location, you are spawned as a cat in a specified location. From there on, you regain your senses and can control the cat. Players can move using their virtual joystick located on the left-hand side. To drag the camera angle, you will need to use your other fingers and swipe on the screen.
On the right-hand side, you will be able to see all the actions the cat can perform. The big button on the right-hand side is the Jump button. Pressing it allows you to jump over obstacles and other areas on a short height. The claw button allows you to interact with the different objects in the environment, such as opening doors, windows, etc. You can also do some mischief with other actions to distract humans, and playfully toy with your surroundings.
Quests and Tasks
Whenever you start your journey in a new location, the big cat Fluffy Joe will always be there to guide you on what tasks need to be performed in order to advance to the next location. Players can click on the ringing cell phone to view the tasks. In rewards to performing these tasks, players will be given the currency “Fish”. Players can view all their tasks on the top left-hand side of the game. The quest areas will be marked in different colors, depending on the type of quest.
You will also be able to see the distance between you and the quest area. Quests will be automatically completed once you perform it. For example, in the House location, a simple task such as going to the 2nd floor of the house will give you tons of fish.
Mini Games to Enjoy on the Go
I Am Cat also boasts multiple mini-games for players to enjoy in their free time. These mini-games are part of every location in the game. Players can track them via the green arrows pointing towards them. Upon winning each game, you can get more fish on top of cementing a high score. As a free-to-play player, you will need to watch an advertisement every time to access the mini-game. For example, the house location features a “Whack-a-Mole” stylized mini-game wherein you need to smash the correct rats in the order they jump to collect fishes and increase high score.
Players can enjoy playing I Am Cat on a bigger screen of their PC or Laptop via BlueStacks along with your keyboard and mouse.
