Gear Types and Rarities Explained

When we talk about gear, you might be thinking about pieces of equipment that give some stats. Well, you’re right but the entire system is more complex than that to summarize. There are several types of gear that can be equipped to multiple gear slots. Each character has a total of 12 gear slots, out of which 5 are class exclusive. This means that depending on the class you have chosen, you will need to complete some quests in order to unlock these gear slots. For the sake of beginners, we have compiled the gear slots in multiple categories, although they are not mentioned by name in-game. Gear in Magic Forest: Dragon Quest falls into several categories, including:

Weapons: Boost attack and provide skill damage bonuses.

Armor: Enhances defense, reducing the damage taken from enemies.

Helmets: Increase health and add resistances against status effects.

Accessory: Offer various secondary stat bonuses, often related to critical hit rate, evasion, and attack speed.

Boots: Offers increases health and defense.

Girdle: Offers increases health and defense.

Vambrace: Offers increases health and defense.

Class Weapons and Accessories: These are special equipment that can be unlocked after a certain point in time when you complete the class quests. These pieces of gear offer increased attack, health, defense, and exclusive bonus effects when equipped.

Now that you have understood what types the gear comes in, it’s also imperative to know about the rarity mechanics involved. Each piece of gear comes in different rarities, reciprocated by the color of the item. For example, a Blue gear is less rare than a Yellow gear. Similarly, the highest rarity of gear available is Mythic. This system is in direct sync with the gear tiering system. Each piece of gear also has a tier number assigned to it. The higher the tier number, the more stats it will provide to the character. The tier for any gear can range anywhere between T0 to T8, with T0 being the lowest and T8 being the highest.

Stat Prioritization by Class

Each class in Magic Forest: Dragon Quest has specific stat needs to maximize their potential:

Windsword (Tank): Prioritize HP, Defense, and Resistance stats to improve durability.

Dancesword (DPS): Focus on Attack Power, Critical Rate, and Attack Speed to enhance damage output.

Sorceress (Spellcasters): Look for Magic Power, Mana Regeneration, and Skill Cooldown Reduction to optimize spell effectiveness.

Priest (Support): Stat priorities can vary, but HP, Mana Regeneration, and Skill Cooldown Reduction often boost support abilities significantly.

Enhancing and Upgrading Gear

Gear in Magic Forest: Dragon Quest is not absolute. Players have the full capacity to reinforce them, upgrade them, and even increase their rarity, provided they have enough resources. Like a true RPG, you can upgrade your gear to increase the attributes provided by them in a short period of span. However, you will not be able to increase the tier rating of any piece of gear. Here are the different methods of upgrading your gear:

Upgrading Gear Levels: Each gear piece can be leveled up using in-game materials or currency. Higher levels increase the gear’s primary stat significantly. Aim to level up gear for your primary characters first.

Enchanting: Enchantments add an extra stat boost to gear and often require specific enchanting scrolls. These enchantments can range from +10% to +30% for stats like attack, defense, or health.

Transcending Gear: Available only for Legendary gear, transcending boosts the gear’s overall quality, making it even stronger than max-leveled non-transcended gear. This feature is resource-intensive, so save transcending for end-game gear.
