This beginner guide will shed more light on the different gameplay mechanics that Modern Community has to offer for a better overall understanding on the game. Check out the complete guide below!

Learn the Core Match-3 Gameplay Mechanics of Modern Community

The match-3 mechanics can be seen whenever you choose to do any task for any community member in Modern Community. In this section, we will be giving you a detailed overview of how the system works. You start off by having the main target area in the center of the screen, while your avatar and power-ups can be seen on the left and right-hand side. In the center, you can see all the match-3 tiles with different colors like green, blue, red, and yellow. Matching tiles of the same color will automatically destroy anything below them. You can only match 3 or more tiles of the same color by swiping them vertically or horizontally next to the adjacent same-colored tiles.

Each match-3 game has a specific objective that you need to fulfill, such as destroying “X” type of objects or “X” number of objects. As you destroy target objects, they will appear on the left-hand side inventory next to your player avatar. Consider them as “targets” of the stage. In order to complete all the targets, you will need to match tiles of the same color to make boosters . Keep in mind, only if you match 4 or more tiles can you make a booster or power-up on the board. Other than that, you can also use some pre-owned boosters from the right-hand side. You can get these by participating in events and completing quests in the game.

Each level you beat gives you a different currency called “Stars” that can be used extensively to upgrade and renovate buildings in your community. On the left-hand side of the screen where your avatar is, you should also see a number. This number denotes the amount of moves you can make to clear the given level and fulfill the target of the level. There is no timer but you are limited by the number of moves you have. Make sure to use them judiciously and focus the moves towards fulfilling the target only.

  • Stars – Stars are a unique resource that you collect by completing levels—one star for each level you complete. Challenging Levels may occasionally reward you with more stars. These stars are used to complete community remodeling projects such as replacing furniture or planting new plants. Each task is unique. Each requires a variable number of stars, and some jobs are done in two or three phases.
  • Lives – To play match-3 levels, you must have lives. Each level loss results in the loss of one Life. It takes 20 minutes to refill one life. You can see how many Lives you have at the upper center of the screen. You can have up to 5 lives, which increase to 8 if you buy the Community Pass.
  • Coins – Coins are the freemium currency of Modern Community. These can be used to purchase extra lives, extra moves, and new boosters. You can get more coins by participating in events, advancing through the Community Pass, and completing bonus levels. Some login events also give you coins every day you login to the game.

The Community Pass

The community pass in Modern Community is similar to battle passes or seasonal passes in other mobile games. If you’re unfamiliar with the concept, the pass is generally an online log of quests that you can complete on a daily basis and seasonal basis. These quests refresh each day and players can complete them to gain pass experience and level up their community pass. The pass has 2 versions – Free and Paid. Each version has a different set of rewards, with the paid version obviously having more premium one’s. Nonetheless, you can earn tons of rewards such as coins, boosters, moves, and more even via the free pass.

Players can enjoy playing Modern Community on a bigger screen of their PC or Laptop via BlueStacks along with your keyboard and mouse.
