Hero Basics and Upgrading Guide for Panilla Saga – Epic Adventure
To progress through the campaign and to beat other players in the arena, you must make your heroes stronger. This ultimately increases the “Power” rating, which is represents the combined strengths of each of your heroes. You can view your current power rating by clicking on the “Journey” button to bring up the campaign screen. You can see your power alongside the enemy team’s power at the top of the screen. There are a variety of ways to upgrade your heroes when you play Panilla Saga – Epic Adventure on PC. In this guide, we’re going to talk about all those various ways but first, we must talk about what characteristics and attributes make up a hero in the first place.
Hero Details
Heroes in Panilla Saga have four important characteristics that you must know of. These are: Faction, Role, Class, and Skill.
Faction
Each hero came from a different background and their faction is what distinguishes them from the rest. There are currently six factions in the game.
- Alliance
- Tribes
- Draconia
- Council
- Temple
- Abyss
The game features a “Faction Countering” system in which one faction can deal 25% more damage to another faction. Before fighting an enemy in the campaign, you get a preview of the factions of the enemies so it can be extremely useful to take advantage of this system.
Faction Name | DEALS 25% more damage to | RECEIVES 25% more damage from |
Alliance | Tribes | Council |
Tribes | Draconia | Alliance |
Draconia | Council | Tribes |
Council | Alliance | Draconia |
Temple | Abyss | Abyss |
Abyss | Temple | Temple |
Role
The role of a hero tells you what kind of damage they deal to enemies. There are currently three roles in the game. Heavy and Light roles deal PHYSICAL damage whereas Cloth roles deal MANA damage. Always be aware of the roles of the enemy team so you can know what type of damage your heroes should be resistant against.
Class
The class of a hero indicates their fighting style. Some heroes are geared more towards aggressive attacking while some are built for damage absorption. Having a good combination of hero classes makes up a good strategy.
- Tanks – can effectively resist DMG or protect allies due to their very high HP
- Warriors – good at dealing melee damage, defending the frontline, and pushing forward; are generally a balance between attack and defense
- Fighters – tactical heroes that specialize in raids, interference, and special operations
- Rangers – deal DMG from a distance in a stable and efficient manner
- Mage – deal explosive DMG and other mixed-effect DMG using magical powers; often deal AoE (area of effect) damage which can hurt multiple enemies at once
- Support – aids heroes through various means such as healing, temporary enhancing, weakening of enemies, and the like.
Skill
Each hero has their own set of skills for dealing damage to enemies. A hero has an energy skill and several secondary skills. The energy skill is like the “ultimate” skill of a hero which often deal a massive amount of damage to enemies or a massive boost to other heroes (in the case of support heroes). An energy skill can only be activated when the energy skill meter is filled up from landing attacks during battle. Secondary skills are various attacks the hero can do and it can be upgraded by levelling up.
Hero Attributes
Heroes are made up of several attributes and these are enhanced every time you do one of the upgrade methods in this guide. The most affected out of these are HP, ATK, and DEF.
- HP – affects how much DMG a hero can take. A hero dies when HP reaches 0 (you can still use them after the battle)
- ATK – the amount of physical damage (PDMG) or magic damage (MDMG) a hero deals
- DEF – the amount of PDMG or MDMG resisted from enemy attacks
- ACC – reduces the enemy’s DOD success rate; grants better bonus to magic skills
- DOD – increases DOD success rate; DOD attacks grant immunity to DMG
- TEN – reduces an enemy’s CRIT
- CRIT – the rate at which a hero commits a critical attack
- SPD – affects MSPD, ASPD, CSPD at the same time
- PEN – ignores a certain percent of an enemy’s DEF
- MRES – additional DMG reduction against magic attacks
- PRES – additional DMG reduction against physical attacks
Levelling Up
Levelling up your heroes is the primary of way of upgrading them. To level up, you need two things: Hero EXP and Coins. Once your hero reaches certain levels, you may be required to own Elven Stardust to level up further.
To level up a hero, click on Camp (from main menu), then Hero, then select the hero that you want to upgrade. Once you’re in the hero’s page, click on the “Level Up” button. If you need Elven Stardust, you will instead see an “Upgrade” button. Levelling up a hero primarily improves a hero’s HP, ATK, and DEF. It is a quick way to improve power and get you through campaign levels or beat arena competitors. To know more about where and how to get the resources needed for levelling up, you can check out this guide here.
Wearing Gear
You can give bonus attribute boosts to your heroes by having them wear gear. Each hero has four gear slots dedicated for weapon, head, chest, and foot gear respectively.
The attributes affected by wearing gear heavily depends on its type and rarity. For instance, wearing a “rough” rarity head gear only gives you a miniscule HP and ATK boost whereas a “common” rarity one not only grants you more HP and ATK boosts but also additional DOD. Another important thing to note is that gear can only be worn by hero roles that fit them. For instance, there are gear items that can only be worn by heroes with the Heavy role.
“Rare” gear items can be enhanced to give further attribute boosts. They can be enhanced by sacrificing lower-rarity gear items to convert them into EXP for the gear item. Higher-rarity gear items give more points. You can click on “Quick Fill” to let the game decide which gear to give up for you. After you’re done, click on “Confirm” to spend the required coins for gear enhancement.
Hero Advancement
If you have an R, SR, or SSR heroes on hand, you can advance them to make them even stronger. Advancement can be done by going to City (from the main menu) and then clicking on Temple of Destiny.
Select any hero that you want to advance. To advance, you must own several copies of that hero that has the same rarity. Those copies will disappear after advancement. However, resources spent on upgrading the copies and gear you may have equipped on them will be refunded.
The path to hero advancement is a long one. The highest status a hero can achieve with advancement is “Mythic”. You can view the complete details on turning your hero into a Mythic one by clicking on the “Rules” button at the top-right of the Temple of Destiny’s screen.
