Tips & Tricks to Playing Plague of Z
Plague of Z can be a really complicated game for players that don’t have the proper knowledge to keep themselves ahead of the competition. Real-time strategy games, in particular, have the most punishing gameplay consequences for players that constantly keep making mistakes. Players that want to stay competitive in the game and prove that they have what it takes to become a good general definitely have a long way to go before they can reach the top of the ladder.
Trial and error is often the best teacher for players that want to learn how to play this game. However, that’s only the case if you don’t have any resources to learn from like internet guides or discussion groups. Luckily, we have all the guides that you’ll need to learn how to play this game and become one of the strongest players on the server even on your first try. Here are some of the tips and tricks we’ve prepared to ensure that you will be successful in conquering the game.
Raise Your Power!
Power rating is everything in Plague of Z. Players often size each other up using their power ratings which can determine whether or not players will take an interest in you or simply ignore you altogether. For example, most top guilds have a minimum power rating requirement so it’s a good idea to have a higher power rating as soon as possible. Players also tend to attack players that are at least half their power rating os keep that in mind when looking at your neighbors.
There are a ton of ways to raise your power rating in the game but some can be really slow. The two best way to raise your power is to continuously build soldiers to ensure that your army makes up for at least 50% of your total power rating. Upgrading your hero and structures are also important ways to increase power rating. A good goal to achieve is to reach a 100k power rating on your 3rd day of playing the game and reach at least 200k after playing for a week.
Use Speedups and Resources
The most frustrating part about playing the game is waiting for your buildings to finish construction or your troops to finish training. In the early stages, it’s easy to wait for 5-30 minute timers but once you get to the higher levels, you’ll start noticing that things start taking longer to finish. Once this happens, it’s a good idea to use speedups and resources in your inventory to accelerate your progress, which will help you achieve a higher power rating as quickly as possible.
Players are often afraid to use up their speedups and resources in the inventory because they feel like it’s an extremely limited resource. The truth is that these speedups and inventories are extremely easy to get since the game will keep flooding you with these things. However, it’s also a good idea not to rely solely on inventory resources, which we mentioned in our Economy Guide. For speedups, just use it as much as possible even if it costs more than 10-20 pieces per upgrade.
Keep Your Troops Moving
An active army means that the player will constantly have various advantages. Using your army can be scary since it can easily get wiped out if you don’t know what you’re doing with it. Luckily, we’ve prepared a Military Guide to help you understand the intricacies and risks that come along with having a good army. Once you understand how to use your army, try to keep them moving around the map constantly and don’t leave them idle too much or you’ll lose a lot of rewards.
If you don’t like the PvP aspect of the game, you can still use your army to do two things. The first way is to constantly attack mobs around the map such as Terminators and Mutants or world bosses that your alliance spawns. These provide a good amount of rewards and give your heroes the experience that they’ll need to level up. The second way is to send your armies to occupy resource plots, which you should do if you plan to log off the game for a few hours so that you can maximize efficiency.
Join the Guild Hive
Joining an alliance is pretty important because it allows you to gain the protection of a group of players that will make even the most powerful players think twice about attacking you. However, being in an alliance isn’t a guarantee of safety in itself. After all, if your alliance members are too far away to protect you, the enemy can destroy your base before reinforcements arrive. That is if your allies are even willing to send troops to you if you’re too far away from their base which will leave them vulnerable if they reinforce you.
Guild hives refer to the assigned point on the map where your alliance is located. This is usually where all the guild members gather so that they can provide safety and other benefits since they’re all nearby. You can go to the guild hive by using your Base Teleporter in the inventory. However, the game will automatically teleport you to the guild hive if it’s your first time joining an alliance.
Don’t Forget to Levy!
Gold is one of the most precious resources in the game and can be earned only in a handful of ways. Unlike the other resources, gold doesn’t have its own production building so it’s a bit hard to collect it. A few common methods to earn this resource is to get it as a reward from quests or by using your inventory resources to instantly claim this resource.
The best way to earn gold is to use the Levy function, which can be found by clicking your command center. You can only levy a limited number of times every few hours so it’s recommended that you do this as soon as it’s available so that you never miss out on the rewards. Once you forget for even a few hours, the time will add to the next time you’ll be allowed to levy again which can really hinder your progress in the game.
