The world of Pokemon TCG has been shaken up since the arrival of The Triumphant Light Cards, adding 96 new cards to the game and leading to a new meta that is constantly unfolding. The Triumphant Light expansion offers a new booster pack, bringing forth the mythical Pokemon, Arceus in addition to a new battle mechanic.

With the grand entry of Arceus and the initiation of Link Abilities in Pokemon TCG, there has been a huge shift in the game play. With the help of this new ability, pokemons can now launch combined effects when playing Arceus or Arceus Ex.

Arceus EX

The most prominent card of Triumphant Light is none other than Arceus as it falls into the category of four-diamond rarity. Arceus’s Fabled Lustre can make him immune to all special conditions and his ultimate force does 70 damage plus damage for each benched Pokemon. Here are the stats for Arceus Ex:

• Rarity: four-diamond, 2-star, 3-star, crown
• HP: 140
• ATK: 70
• ATK Energy: Three Colorless
• Retreat Cost: 2
• Weakness: Fighting
• Ability: Fabled Lustre
• Attack: Ultimate Force

Arceus also provides his fellow Pokemons with special boosts according to the link abilities. These link abilities include Power Link, Resilience Link, Vigor Link, Speed Link and Cunning Link. These links are a game-changer for players as they provide strong combinations with a dynamic play style.

Garchomp Ex

With Arceus Ex as the top card, we have Garchomp Ex as the next in line. Like Arceus Ex, this card also has a four-diamond rarity. Due to the huge HP of this card, it is considered a good way to deal damage in Phase 2. Garchomp’s Linear attack deals and costs 50 damage while Dragon Claw also costs and deals 100 damage. The stats of this card are as follows:

• Rarity: four-diamond, 2-star
• HP: 170
• ATK: 100
• ATK Energy: Basic attack – requires one fighting type
• Ultimate: requires two fighting and one colorless
• Retreat Cost: 1
• Weakness: grass-type
• Ability: Linear Attack

With the new release, 75 base set cards are added along with 21 marvelous cards which totals 96 cards and includes several rare cards along with one hyper rare card. Key trainer and supporter cards are also added which include Adaman, Irida, Barry, and the Celestic Town Elder. Adaman and Irida are the key supporters with Irida being capable of healing 40 damage and Adaman helping in reducing the opponent’s damage on metal type monsters.

Conclusion

Although the Triumphant Light set is much smaller than the Genetic Apex or Space-Time Smackdown, it has its strength as a small yet mighty card set. You will need to be in luck to obtain all the good cards (along with a thick wad of cash).
