Tip #1. The Afflatus of Characters Matters
Just like in any strategic turn-based RPG, a host of tactical combat elements are also present in Reverse: 1999. One such important one that players often forget is the Afflatus system. The game is home to 6 Afflatus (Beast, Plant, Star, Mineral, Spirit, Intellect). Consider them like elements/types in other games, where each one is stronger/weaker towards another. Here’s how they work:
Beast Afflatus – Beast afflatus is stronger against Plant Afflatus but weaker against Mineral Afflatus.
Plant Afflatus – Plant afflatus is stronger against Star Afflatus but weaker against Beast Afflatus.
Star Afflatus – Star afflatus is stronger against Mineral Afflatus but weaker against Plant Afflatus.
Mineral Afflatus – Mineral afflatus is stronger against Beast Afflatus but weaker against Star Afflatus.
Spirit Afflatus – Spirit afflatus is stronger/weaker against Intellect Afflatus. It is neutral against Beast, Plant, Star, and Mineral Afflatuses.
Intellect Afflatus – Intellect afflatus is stronger/weaker against Spirit Afflatus. It is neutral against Beast, Plant, Star, and Mineral Afflatuses.
Tip #2. Using Tuning Skills at the Right Time
One of the best ways to get more out of the combat system is going to be the Tuning system that has been blessed with Vertin the time keepers’ skills. These skills can be used outside of the turn and do not consume Moxie. They are designed to give players an advantage over their foes. Some of the skills can be crucial for progression and for winning battles by providing you with more buffs, heals, and debuffs. Some high-level Tuning skills allow you to combine cards to get a stronger skill without consuming a Moxie.
Tip #3. Character Placement in Team Formation
As a new player of Reverse: 1999, you might know about the fact that character placement matters quite a lot when it comes to skill card merging and obtaining. Although the game says cards are spawning at random, the characters placed on the left have a statistically higher chance to be obtained. You can then choose to merge them together or get lucky with the merger themselves. You can choose to place the character you value the most on the left-hand side of the teams in the team formation screen.
Tip #4. Healers/Buffers are a MUST!
The only way to get more value out of the combat system is to bring more healers/buffers and shield-providing characters into your team. These characters can help you secure 3-star clear on many stages that will in turn allow you to get more premium currency in the form of Unilogs. 3-Star clearing stages also become a must in some situations as you will be able to repeat them infinitely till you have stamina left. Healers can ensure that your allies are always topped up and healthy, avoiding some unfortunate situations where they can die.

Tip #5. Make sure to do Daily Missions
Daily Missions in Reverse: 1999 are going to be the bread and butter for many new players and end-game players alike. Not only do these missions provide a consistent amount of free resources on a daily basis but they are also infinitely resetting each day! Players can get a host of rewards such as Coins and Unilogs just by completing menial tasks that they should do every day anyway.
Playing Reverse: 1999 on a bigger screen of your PC with BlueStacks without worrying about battery drainage and smooth gameplay, is highly recommended.
