Summoners Wars Monsters Guide: Which Ones To Pick?
Summoner Wars is a game with thousands of monsters and it can be challenging especially for beginners to choose from such a large number of options. However, you can make this easier by learning some basic rules and knowing what to look out for. This guide is going to help you do just that! Below, you will find answers to every question you’ve ever had about the Summoners War monsters.
Star Ratings and Levels
As we mentioned in our beginner’s guide, there are currently 1,102 monsters in Summoners War. With each update, new ones are added, so this number may have changed since the time this guide was created. Each monster belongs to a particular element class, but this does not determine how strong they are. The power of the monsters is determined by their number of “stars”.
A monster can have a number of stars from 1 to 6. The 6-star monsters are the rarest ones and also the strongest. 1-star monsters are just handy to be “cannon fodder”: You should use them only to empower other monsters. They’re completely useless in battles.
The number of stars they have also determines the maximum level of the monsters. You can see these limits in the following table:
NUMBER OF STARS | MAXIMUM LEVEL |
1 | 15 |
2 | 20 |
3 | 25 |
4 | 30 |
5 | 35 |
6 | 40 |
For example, a 1-star monster can be of level 15 at maximum. The level limit in the game is 40 and only 6-star monsters can reach it. So, your ultimate goal should be to build a team of 6-star monsters. It’s hard work, but not impossible – it just takes time. So, how do you do that? How do you get new monsters?
There are many methods you can use to get new monsters. The most useful ones are:
- From Scrolls. Summoning scrolls are the most common way to get new monsters. The results are completely random and change according to the type of scroll you are using. In our Tips and Tricks guide, you can find some tips on how to get more scrolls.
- From Loot. Story quests and dungeons can give monsters as rewards. This method is more useful than scrolls because you can see which monster you will get in advance. For example, if you prefer story missions, the last mission in each area gives you a chance to win a particular monster.
- From Guild Store. If you are a member of a guild, you can buy monster shards in exchange for medals (you can win these for free). Once you have collected all the shards, you get the monster.
You can increase the number of stars of your monsters with the “evolve” method. Theoretically, you can even evolve a 3-star monster to 6-stars. But the monster must be at the last level and you also have to “sacrifice” lots of other monsters every time. This is quite a costly process and it’s often easier to try to get a 5-star monster directly instead.

Forming The Perfect Team
You need to create a different team for each type of task in Summoners War. In this section of the guide, we will focus on PvE tasks. When creating a team, it is important to pay attention to the roles that different monsters can take. Rather than focusing on a list of the “best monsters”, you should learn to use the monsters you have in the most efficient way.
Summoners War monsters have different skills and these determine which roles they can take. In general, we can say that the standard “tank-healer-damage dealer” mechanics are used here as well. So your team must have at least one tank, one healer, and one damage dealer. By looking at the skills of the monsters, you can understand what role they can take.
Tank. His mission is to draw the attention of the enemies. Their attack power is low but armor scores are high.
Healer. Their task is primarily to heal the tank. Do not use them to attack, if possible.
Damage dealer. Their only task is to attack the enemy and damage them as much as possible.
You can find more information about this setup in our Battle System guide. While we do not know which monsters you’re playing with, these are some general rules to be considered when you’re creating your team.
Best Monsters For Beginners – 2 And 3 Stars
So, which monsters will be most useful, especially at the beginning of the game? More importantly, how do you get them? Below, you will find a list of 2 and 3-star monsters that we think will be most useful. When creating this list, we used our own experience and the common consensus of other players. Keep in mind that this is not a fixed “best of” list: You can focus on completely different monsters and still be effective on the battlefield.
NAME | WHERE TO GET | ADVANTAGE OF THIS MONSTER |
Bernard, 3 stars | Tamor Desert | Gives an amazing speed buff to your team |
Kahli, 3 stars | Vrofagus Ruins | Probably the best 3-star damage dealer |
Colleen, 2 stars | Magic Shop Building | Best healer until mid-game phase |
Raoq, 3 stars | Faimon Volcano | Gets another turn when he kills the enemy |
Ramagos, 3 stars | Chriuka Remains | Best tank until mid-game phase |
We can actually recommend a lot more monsters, but the advantage of this list is that it shows where you can get each monster. For example, “Darion” is actually a better tank than Ramagos, but you can get it only with summoning scrolls. Ramagos, on the other hand, can be obtained by completing the tasks in the region mentioned above. This list shows the best tank, healer, and damage dealers you can get until you reach the middle-game phase.
Are there any other monsters you recommend? Please let us know in the comments section. Summoners War contains thousands of monsters that can be collected and the combinations that can be created are almost unlimited. Good luck summoner – may the most powerful monsters always be with you!
