Heroes: Kingdom: Samkok M is a free-to-play strategy game developed by Tapplus. It is themed around the historic Three Kingdoms era, which was a period between 220 to 280 AD where China was divided into the three dynastic states: Cao Wei, Shu Han, and Eastern Wu. In this game, you get to recruit over 200 notable generals from the Three Kingdoms era and combine them with over 20 unique troop types and over 10 formation combinations to build a powerful army. With your army, you engage in expeditions and invade various cities of Three-Kingdoms-era China by challenging enemies in head-on strategic battles. After taking over cities, you can reap the rewards and use them to continue upgrading your army and you can also keep developing the city you took over to serve as passive income. Aside from expeditions, you can also partake in various game modes like the EXP Tower where you can train generals individually. Expedition Combat

To know how to win battles in this game, we must first know how they work and then figure out what strategies to employ to effectively win.

Capturing territories in Heroes Kingdom: Samkok M is done through expedition. Expedition involves exploring the Three Kingdoms and conquer cities sequentially. This means that you can only take one city when you have taken the city before it.

Before attacking an unconquered city, you must select the generals that you wish to deploy. You can deploy up to five generals but note that you unlock more deployment slots as you level up your main city. You start the game with just one deployment slot. From here, the best strategy is to deploy the generals who have the highest rarity (number of stars) and level. However, if you have a general that you want to level up, then you can prioritize them over stronger generals.

In the pre-battle screen, you must select which of the generals among those you selected earlier will fight. From here, you can select the formation, troop type, and chief skill that they are going to use. You can also view the same information about the enemy, and this can help you decide which general to deploy. Looking at the enemy’s formation in particular is very useful because this can tell you to deploy a general who has a formation that directly counters the enemy. This pre-battle phase is time limited so you must decide quickly. You can click “Attack” to begin the battle immediately.

During battle, you are given several options as to how you can approach a battle.

• All Retreat – both your general and his troops fall back from the enemy.
• All Out – both your general and his troops charge the enemy.
• General Attack – only your general charges the enemy.
• Unit Attack – only your general’s units charge the enemy.

When you have very powerful generals and troops, these options do not really matter because they can take down the enemy regardless if they charge or not. General Attack is best used when you want to deal strong attacks to the enemy but you risk wounding your general and healing them can be expensive. Unit Attack is best used when you want to deal weaker attacks to the enemy and don’t want to lose your general quickly. It is very easy to replenish your troops so there is not much risk associated with Unit Attack.

At the bottom, you can activate the skills of your generals. Skills are powerful attacks that can deal plenty of damage to enemies, usually in an area of effect. You can only activate one skill at once. One tactic you can do is to charge the enemy with All Out, then fall back with All Retreat just before coming into contact with them, and then hit the enemy with skills when they get close enough.

Knowing and Upgrading Generals

Your generals make up your entire military power, so it is very important that you routinely upgrade them if you want to keep conquering cities.

Two important aspects of a general is their rarity and level. The rarity is indicated by the number of stars they have, and this is indicative of their base strength. Higher-rarity generals are worth deploying in expeditions. Aside from rarity, generals also have a level which determine their stats. Generals can be levelled up when they are deployed into battle (and survive) or by spending items like EXP pills.

Generals have basic four basic stats: HP, SP, Honor, and Soul. Additionally, they also have special stats such as STR (determines general ATK), INT (determines skill cooldowns and damage), GOV (affects troop HP and DMG), Loyalty (the general is weakened when this value reaches less than or equal to 80).

Five-star or above generals can be “awakened” to receive more powerful upgrades. Awakening a general dramatically increases their STR and HP stats. An awakened general has their name appended with +x, with x being the number of times they have been awakened. To awaken a general, you must have a duplicate of that general, 300 soul elixirs, and 600 gold.

Equipping and Upgrading Gear

Generals can also be equipped with gear to receiver further stat boosts.

Each general has four gear slots pertaining to weapon, armor, horse, and scroll.

Weapon gear like swords increase the STR stat. Armor gear like helmets and chest armor increases the HP stat. Horse gear increases the GOV stat. Scroll gear increases the INT stat.

You can spend silver to boost gear to increase the stat bonuses that it gives to its owner. Note that boosting gear is dependent on its success rate. This rate goes down as you keep levelling up the gear. You can temporarily increase the success rate by equipping a booster. Additionally, you can also inlay gems into the gear’s socket (if available) to give it further upgrades.

Give the highest-rated gear that you have to your most powerful general. When levelling up gear, ensure that the levels of each gear your generals have equipped are the same. This reduces any strength bottlenecks that you lineup of generals may have.
