But hype aside, what can we actually expect to find in this new title? We aim to answer this question, as well as give an overview of the most notable features in this game in the following paragraphs. In this sense, if you’re interested in learning more about The Division: Resurgence, this article is for you!
Conflict in New York City
The Division is set in two main locations, New York City and Washington D.C., in the midst of an epidemic called “Green Poison”, caused by a genetically-engineered Smallpox Variola Chimera. The virus was created by a gifted yet crazed virologist as an attempt at population control, and featured a staggering 90% mortality rate. The virus itself was engineered to be infinitely mutable, and therefore incurable and unstoppable. And with only 5% of the general population naturally immune to infection, the virus quickly caused havoc around town.
The Division: Resurgence is set once again in New York City during the events of the previous two titles. And while we don’t know much about the story this time around, we know that the player characters will be part of the Strategic Homeland Division, the titular division that gives this game its namesake. The player will assume the role of one of the Division agents that made up the first wave into the contaminated city and will feature a storyline closely tied to the events of The Division 1 and 2. The idea is to shed further light and give more backstory to the other games, while also giving players tons of fun and excitement as they run around the streets of New York shooting and looting.
The Division: Resurgence will feature both a PvE storyline with tons of solo and co-op action, as well as PvP and PvPvE modes through the multiple game modes, as well as the Dark Zone, respectively. In this sense, if you’ve played any of the other games in the past, you can expect to find much of the same here, but on your phone.
A Variety of Game Modes
Among some of the most prevalent game modes in The Division: Resurgence we can find the popular Conflict, which was first introduced in The Division 2, and that consists of a purely PvP challenge revolving around two sub-modes, Domination and Skirmish: The first one being a capture-the-flag-style match where players must capture and hold several locations to score points. Meanwhile, the latter is more akin to a team deathmatch mode where the objective is to reduce the opposing team’s lives to 0. However, while the current closed beta started only with the latter, the former should now be available for all selected agents to access and enjoy.
Of course, The Division wouldn’t be complete without its iconic Dark Zone, which also makes a return in Resurgence.
The Dark Zone is Back and as Perilous as Ever
The Dark Zone is, for many players, the game mode that made The Division what it is. We’re talking about a PvPvE area where the toughest enemies in the game stalk, and where players can also find the best pieces of loot. However, this is also a lawless area where other agents can go rogue and freely fire upon their former allies. As such, it’s a dangerous place where only the most prepared and battle-hardened agents can venture into and make it out alive, potentially with lots of stories to tell and loot to show off.
Those who are looking to get into The Division: Resurgence, either right now in the closed beta or when the game releases next year, can expect to find themselves constantly visiting the Dark Zone to complete their builds and also engage in fun with friends, either by taking down tough enemies, or by engaging and eliminating rogue agents. Or who knows, maybe you’ll be the rogue and will be ambushing unsuspecting players as they make their way through this perilous part of town!
The Division: Resurgence is shaping up to be an awesome game once it releases in 2023. And if you’re interested in learning more, make sure to stay tuned to our blog as we’ll be covering the game and writing up lots of useful guides once it’s released to the public.
