BlueStacks' Beginners Guide to Playing Warspear Online
Warspear Online takes a very traditionalistic approach to the MMORPG genre, using old mechanics that appeal to nostalgic gameplay rather than the ground-breaking visuals and an action-packed combat system. There’s nothing wrong with playing a game that looks like it was created in the early 1990s, but players today have become accustomed to modern game mechanics. This is why we’re making this beginners’ guide to help new players understand the game better.
This beginners’ guide will tackle core gameplay mechanics that aren’t just exclusive to players who haven’t played old-school MMORPGs. We’ll also be discussing some mechanics that are specific to Warspear Online, so each and every player has something to pick up when reading through this guide. Players who have played any RPG before will have an easier time learning the game, but those who want more insight have definitely come to the right place to look for information.
Character Creation
Every MMORPG begins with the creation of your first character. In Warspear Online, players don’t have that many options in terms of cosmetic changes since it only features a 64-bit art style. However, diversity comes when the player chooses their class and faction. We won’t be discussing this mechanic too much, but we’ll be introducing how these choices affect the player’s adventure and how they will interact with the world depending on what faction and class they joined.
Factions refer to the group or race of the hero being chosen. Factions are significant because hero classes are exclusive to specific classes. For example, the Druid Class can only be used when choosing the Firstborn faction. Once a player has chosen a class and faction, they will be transported to a starting area that’s only exclusive to the class or faction they’ve chosen. So if you want to play with your friends, you may need to progress through the game for a while longer before you’re able to play together.
Questing
Questing in the game isn’t like most mobile MMORPGs where you simply click accept, and the game redirects you or automatically moves you to the location of that task. In Warspear Online, questing and combat are manual, so players need to control their hero to the location of the quest and collect the materials they need or slay the monsters indicated in the quest by themselves. Some quests have markers or indicators, but if you don’t know where to do a quest, simply click on the Quest Tab and click Map.
Warspear Online’s questing system is the best part of the game because it allows players to truly interact with the game and gain a bit of immersion along the way. The problem is that the quest menu doesn’t offer a lot of detail involving quests, so the player is forced to read through the dialogue if they want to know where to go immediately. It’s a good idea for players to collect all the quests that they come across to gain a lot of experience and level up faster.
Gearing
Gearing in this game is more complicated as compared to other mobile MMORPGs. Each class is able to equip specific types of armor. For example, Paladins can wear Plate Armor while Druids can only wear Cloth Armor. The game doesn’t make looting exclusive, so your character can get other types of armor that they can’t wear, which can be pretty annoying if you’re looking to complete a set. In this regard, players are encouraged to farm monsters and dungeons until they find what they’re looking for.
Players can also sell or buy armor from other players through the Auction House system. This is incredibly useful if you’ve acquired a lot of items that you don’t need because you’re able to sell them for gold and buy the things you need instead. Keep in mind that items don’t have a uniform pricing system, so the item you get may have a higher or lower price than the item you want. The pricing mostly depends on the item’s rarity and its popularity among the classes it’s available to.
Moving Around the World
The world is instance-based, meaning each area is open only to an extent, but players will need to click on a connecting point to reach another area. You can see which areas players can go to by looking at the yellow lines on the minimap. While it’s not a total open-world game, it still provides the player with a deep level of exploration and immersion because each area has a unique biome that players can interact with, especially cities or villages.
The movement system in Warspear Online is probably the biggest turn-off in the game since players need to tap or click on a tile for players to move or interact with something. The title system is incredibly clunky when you’re playing on a small device, giving players with stubby fingers many difficulties. This is why this game is better played on the BlueStacks platform, where your cursor can more accurately target a specific tile that you’re trying to move towards.
The Combat System
The Combat System in Warspear Online is also very linear but isn’t that bad aside from the fact that it lacks some flashy animation. In this game, players can attack something by tapping or clicking on it on the screen. Players can choose to use their abilities by tapping or clicking on the icons in their hotbar, similar to traditional MMORPGs. Each ability has a cooldown and/or resource cost that prevents players from spamming them in the game.
A great thing about Warspear Online is that combat in the game isn’t easy. Players will need to make use of mechanics like kiting, resource management, and proper timing and combos to utilize their class to the fullest. Players who have grown accustomed to auto-combat may not be able to adapt to this system since all of the game’s monsters are made to be challenging to fight for characters that are on the same level. This is why potions play a big part in the game.
