DreamStar Is Tencent’s Latest Casual Multiplayer Game
Tencent, a major player in the gaming industry, has unveiled a new casual multiplayer party game called DreamStar. It’s similar to Fall Guys and aims to provide players with a virtual theme park full of fun activities and exciting maps. DreamStar is being developed by Tencent’s TiMi Studio and will be available on mobile devices, although the official release date hasn’t been announced yet. A test version will be available for players in China starting on September 28th. The game features a variety of unique maps where players can compete against each other. It’s important to note that DreamStar has no connection to the board game Dream Star or Dream Star Toys products.
Tencent is actively improving its games based on player feedback, especially when it comes to core gameplay mechanics. In a closed beta phase, the studio conducted a survey among dedicated testers, which revealed a strong preference for PvE content (player vs. environment). Casual play and questing ranked lower in interest, likely because most respondents were hardcore players. Tencent also identified areas for improvement in its exploration and crafting systems. Developers admitted that the current versions felt more like tools than delivering the immersive experience they had in mind. As a result, both systems will undergo significant improvements, with crafting receiving a notable boost through these changes.
DreamStar is a new addition to Tencent’s game lineup, which also includes the popular game Don’t Starve: Newhome, a mobile-optimized version of the Don’t Starve franchise.
