Free Fire is a well-known Action game among the mobile FPS community, captivating the hearts of over 100 million+ players worldwide. The game consistently releases new updates to help with balancing as well as introduce new features. The latest OB46 update can already be seen live in-game as it was implemented on 4th September, 2024. It features the addition of a brand-new character Lila, existing hero re-balancing, weapon re-balancing and an all-new themed event called “Gloo Invasion”. Let’s check everything out!
Gloo Nova in Battle Royale
A brand-new Gloo covered Battle Royale (BR) map can be seen in-game that comes with it’s own set of mechanics. Players need to choose their Gloo Gadget from a choice of 4 options:
Lavish Gadget: By default, the device is unlocked. When equipped, using a Gloo Wall during a match will randomly reward EP, in-game cash, or consumables. There is a slight chance of getting powerful things like Active Skill Cards or Horizalines. Cooldown: 18 seconds.
Wrecking Gadget: Unlocked through the event. When worn, the player delivers 50% more damage to Gloo Walls during battles. When you destroy a Gloo Wall, it causes an explosion that deals 30 DMG to all opponents within a specific radius. Cooldown: 28 seconds.
Scanner Gadget: Unlocked through the event. When equipped, the Gloo Wall launched during matches may scan for adversaries within 35m for 6 seconds. It also tags foes within 10 meters for 25.. Cooldown: 25 seconds.
Defender Gadget: Unlocked through the event. When donned, the player’s Gloo Wall gains an extra 250 durability. If the equipped player is knocked down during a match, a Gloo Wall with 150 durability will be deployed in the direction of the incoming projectile after a 0.65 delay (invalid in Solo mode). Cooldown: 25 seconds.
During this event, all arsenals will be coated in Gloo, and you must smash it to access the loot inside. Airdrops will also be coated with Gloo, so you must crush it to retrieve the goodies.
New Character Lila
With the all-new Gloo theme, comes a brand-new character called “Lila”. Lila’s unique skill is known as “Gloo Strike.” It allows her to employ guns to slow down opponents or vehicles. If she hits an adversary, their speed is reduced by 10%, and if she hits a vehicle, it slows down by 50% for 3 seconds. If an adversary is knocked down while slowed, they will be frozen for up to 35 seconds. Lila also receives an extra Gloo Wall and enters a 10-second cooldown. This makes her an excellent pick for those who enjoy strategizing their actions and controlling crowds in battle. Make sure to pick up this new and exciting hero to see what new tactics you can come up with.
Clash Squad Season 26
The brand-new season 26 for the ranked Clash Squad has begun! It features many interesting changes such as:
- To make things clearer, MVP effects have been updated, as have enemy outlines.
- More restrictions on reaching high places, as well as new route guidance elements, are intended to make the game fairer and more tactical.
- Players can now receive money for their first knockdown, making each round more competitive.
Character and Weapon Adjustments
As with any major update, changes to characters and weapons are expected. Well, OB46 update delivers quite a lot with a wide roster of changes coming for multiple characters and weapons that were previously in meta. Some got buffed, others got nerfed. Some simply got their bugs fixed. Check out the list below:

Bonus effects for weapons – New charged assault for the Scythe, as well as improved performance for weapons such as the AC80, M4A1, SVD-Y, M60, M24, and AUG.

Window Jump Optimizations
Those pesky windows are being changed to help players avoid getting stuck in them. The changes are as follows:
- Some of Bermuda’s buildings have had their window sizes adjusted.
- The method for window leaps has been optimized in all maps except Kalahari, allowing players to vault immediately in most cases. Only on rare circumstances (at highly uncommon angles) will your characters automatically squat on the sill during a jump.
Other Adjustments and Optimizations
Some crucial adjustments and optimizations that were introduced with the update:
- Universal Evo Tokens can now be used to enhance any Evo weapon.
- New backpack skins starting with OB46 will only feature the Lv. 3 appearance. Previous backpacks will be unaffected.
- If you do not have a friend accessible to invite during the team invite process, the system will recommend an online player to you.
- Expired team invitations will be saved in IntelliMate for subsequent access.
- Friend requests will now include the source of the request.
- Guilds now have level 7.
- Players that finish in the top 100 on the regional leaderboard will immediately get the title. Every week, players that reach the regional and subregional ranking leaderboards will be awarded titles.
- The ranked leaderboard will have the same location as the weapon glory leaderboard.
