No more feeling disheartened if you’ve surpassed using some of your favorite characters because of rarity limitations. For instance, if you’re a fan of Black Widow’s unique AP-stealing prowess, previously limited to her 2-Star tier, now with Champions 2.0, you can boost her to higher ranks and enjoy her unique capabilities. This revamp is bound to shake things up, especially in the PvP domain. And honestly? I can’t wait to see the strategies players come up with!

Upgrading Your Champions: A Deep Dive into Champions 2.0

In Champions 2.0, think of leveling up as a two-part journey:

1. Unlocking Ascension – Reach the maximum Champion level with your favorite character, paving the path to Ascension.
2. Binding for Elevation – Merge a max level Championed hero with a duplicate of the same level and rarity to form an Ascended version, scaling to a higher rarity tier.

Once Ascended, you have two options to level up:

1. Use the character’s Covers.
2. Use a defined number of the character’s Shards.

What is Ascension, Anyway?

Ascension is your ticket to leveling up. Once your character reaches the pinnacle of the Champion level, Ascension becomes available, letting you elevate your hero to a more potent rarity tier. 

Remember: After Ascension, the character will always start at the beginner’s level of the new tier. And how is Ascension achieved? Through the process known as Binding.

A Quick Note on 1-Star Characters

These special characters have a slight twist. They can’t be Championed in the traditional sense. Their Ascension unlocks based on their max levels:

1. Level 40 for 1-Star heroes with two abilities.
2. Level 50 for those boasting three abilities.

The Binding Process Explained

Think of Binding as the fusion of two characters into a singular, more potent version. To embark on Ascension, you’ll need:

1. A max-level Championed character.
2. A max-level non-Championed duplicate of that character.

When combined, they produce an Ascended version of the hero in a superior rarity tier.

Important to Note: 

You always need a max level non-Championed twin for Binding. However, if you’re feeling extra, you can use another Championed version instead. If this second character has extra covers, they’ll transfer over to the new Ascended version.
