RAID: Shadow Legends – Artifact Ascension, Champion Rebalancing and Quality-of-Life Features in Patch 6.30
After a heavy week for the developers of RAID: Shadow Legends, the newest patch titled “6.30” has finally been announced. By announced, we mean the patch notes of course, not the actual release date. It’s expected to drop sometime this week itself but we wanted to give you a heads up for the new content coming to the game. The turn-based RPG by Plarium has been quite vocal on rebalancing champions that are not used anymore by players and that is what’s going to be the highlight of this update.
Some small Quality-of-Life features are also being added to make the day-to-day progression activities less time-consuming for players that are actively grinding the game. RAID: Shadow Legends is available to be downloaded as a free-to-play title on both the Google Play Store and iOS App Store. The Artifact Ascension is a new system that is also being added to the game for all players, regardless of their level and progression in the game. Let’s take a look at all the new changes coming to RAID: Shadow Legends with Patch 6.30.
Artifact Ascension
Artifact Ascension is a brand-new feature that is going to empower your artifacts to the next level. The feature is scheduled to be available with Patch 6.30. We have already covered the Artifact Ascension topic along with the new dungeon Sand Devil’s Necropolis in detail. The Sand Devil’s Necropolis is also suspected to be dropping with the same update but the patch notes do not make any claim for it so far. Artifact Ascension makes use of a new currency called “Oil”. Oil can only be obtained from the Sand Devil’s Necropolis dungeon. This dungeon will be added alongside the existing dungeons and does not require energy to grind. Instead, players will be given keys that they can use to open and farm the dungeon on a daily basis. Hence, Oil can only be collected in a limited amount of quantity each day. Further, the amount of Oil collected depends on the Stage you will be farming. The Sand Devil’s Necropolis consists of 25 unique stages and each of them has Al-Naemeh as the boss.
The higher the stage you decide to farm, the more Oil in terms of quantity and quality you will get. Oil comes in 3 types:
- Lesser Oil
- Greater Oil
- Superior Oil
Players will need each of these qualities of Oils in order to enhance their artifacts to the next level. Just like we ascend our champions currently, Artifact ascension will work the same way with artifacts. Ascended artifacts will be represented by red stars according to their current ascension level. Each artifact that is Level 12 and at least 4-Stars is eligible to be ascended via Artifact Ascension. The quality of the artifact is not a factor. Each artifact can be ascended up to 6 stars. The 1st and 2nd ascensions of the artifact required Lesser Oils. The 3rd and 4th ascension of the artifact require Greater Oil. The 5th and 6th ascension of the artifact requires Superior Oils. Upon ascension, each artifact gains an additional stat from a list of stats that are assigned to that particular piece, depending on the area. Once ascended, players cannot change this additional stat and the next ascension levels just further boost this stat value.
Quality-of-Life Features
Quality-of-Life features are always welcome in a grindy and time-consuming game such as RAID: Shadow Legends. In Patch 6.30, players will be seeing a host of new changes and adjustments, although they are quite minor. Here is the list of new features and/or changes:
- The Daily Login program is again seeing a massive change being done to its functioning. The fragments of champions that are available will be removed after players have collected all the champion fragments for the 6 new champions that were added post 271 days. Instead of new champions, players will now be getting Soulstones in their slots. Players can get 5 Mortal Soulstones and 1 Immortal Soulstone instead of new champion fragments.
- The Doom Tower is also getting a new QOL improvement where players will now be getting a massive reward overhaul, but only for players who have already collected all champion fragments from its Secret Rooms. The rewards for them will now be changed to Forge materials.
- Another QOL for Doom Tower is the Auto-Climb feature. This feature will help players continue climbing the floors of the Doom Tower with a single click instead of constantly pressing the Next button. Keep in mind that the Auto-Climb will stop if you do not have enough Golden Keys or when the specified floor is reached. Auto-Climb is not available for Boss Floors.
- The Stage Select UI is also getting tweaked to better match the needs and clear times of the players. For example, whenever opening a dungeon page, the UI will automatically take you to the last cleared dungeon floor. This Stage Select UI will be implemented for Dungeons, Faction Wars, and Campaigns.
Champion Rebalancing
Boasting a huge roster of champions comes with its own set of advantages and disadvantages. Players get to choose between a ton of heroes and the battle mechanics remain quite diverse for players to devise new strategies. On the other hand, power creep may occur and old champions are forgotten like old dust in front of the new and shiny champions that are the apple of everyone’s eyes. To avoid such disparity, champion rebalancing is an essential aspect of any game. For Patch 6.30, players can see some hard-core changes being made to 4 champions. Here are the champions and the changes:
PYXNIEL
