RAID: Shadow Legends – New Champion Raf-Matab Guaranteed and 10X Summoning Event
New champions are always a treat to summon in RAID: Shadow Legends, the popular turn-based RPG developed and published by Plarium. Top the release of a new champion with a guaranteed summoning event where players will be able to obtain it 100%? Well, that just sounds like a cherry on top of the cake. To make it even sweeter, Plarium has decided to lure more players by offering a lucrative selection of champions in a 10X boosted summoning event.
Events are more common in the land of Teleria than they used to be as the game is being updated constantly. A guaranteed summoning event is still, one of the most lucrative and exciting events available as it gives a 100% chance to obtain the champion, required players must complete the event and have the resources to complete it. Without further delay, let’s look at the roster of champions available in the events this weekend.
Guaranteed Summoning Event for New Hero Raf-Matab
The guaranteed event this weekend starts on 6th May 2022 and ends on 9th May 2022 after the server resets. This guaranteed summoning event is only available through Ancient Shards as players can get their hands on the newest champion coming to RAID: Shadow Legends – Raf-Matab, a legendary grade Spirit affinity champion from the Barbarians faction. The summons from the Ancient Shards must be made when the event is active and live in-game. Players can rejoice that the summons made will count towards their mercy and the guaranteed summon of Raf-Matab will not reset the pity on Ancient Shards. Before you summon, let’s take a look at some of his abilities and decide whether Raf-Matab is worth your resources or not.
Raf-Matab is an HP-based legendary grade Spirit affinity champion from the Barbarians faction. Since he’s an HP-based champion, it means all of his abilities will deal damage according to his MAX HP. This can make for a good bruiser if the multipliers on his skills are good. Raf-Matab is introduced by the developers as a sheer tank who is more focused on being the meat guard for your team and taking hits from enemies. His 1st skill Elderspear is a single targeted damaging skill that has a 50% chance to increase any of the enemies’ skill cooldowns by 2 turns at random. This chance will be 100% if the enemy which is targeted has 50% or less HP. His 2nd skill Stampede is an AOE targeted damaging skill that targets all enemies and has a 75% chance to inflict a Provoke debuff for 1 turn. This skill will further place a Block Damage buff for 1 turn on himself which makes him even sturdier as he will negate any damage coming from enemies. His 3rd skill Shield of the Clans is also an AOE targeted damaging skill that targets all allies and provides a 50% Increased Resistance buff and 30% Reflect Damage buff for 2 turns each. His passive ability Brawny Surge states that Raf-Matab gains 50 Resistance whenever his active skills are on cooldown.
Take a look at Raf-Matab’s official skills in detail:
Elderspear (Attack) – Attacks 1 enemy. Has a 50% chance of increasing the cooldown of one of the target’s skills by 2 turns at random. The chance increases to 100% if the target has 50% HP or less.
Stampede (Attack) – Attacks all enemies. Has a 75% chance of placing a [Provoke] debuff for 1 turn. Also places a [Block Damage] buff on this Champion for 1 turn.
Shield of the Clans (Buff) – Places a 50% [Increase RES] buff and a 30% [Reflect Damage] buff on all allies for 2 turns.
Brawny Surge (Passive) – This Champion’s RES is increased by 50 whenever their active skills are not on cooldown
AURA – Increases Ally Resist in All Battles by 60
We recommend going for Raf-Matab in this guaranteed summoning event only if you have 120 Ancient Shards and are ready to give up on the next fragment fusion event. This only applies to the free-to-play players. Raf-Matab is a great tank to soak up damage just like Kyoko but he also has innate resistance if his skills are on cooldown.
10X Summoning Rate-Up Event
In this next event, there’s nothing guaranteed but always about pure luck as the 10X summoning events are usually targeted at players who have an excess number of shards to summon and have a higher chance of obtaining the champions which are listed in the 10X event. This only applies if they ever summon a champion from the particular rarity. Hence, it’s not like a 2X summoning event where the base rates of summoning the different rarities of champions get doubled. In the 10X summoning event, only the champions listed have a higher chance of being summoned if the player summons the base rarity.
We never recommend going for 10X summoning events as it’s pure RNG based and nothing is guaranteed. It also puts a deep hole in your pocket of resources when it comes to Shards, especially when a new fragment fusion event is just on the edge to be started. Also, due to an extreme number of new champions which have been added to the game over the past years, the 10X summoning chance has become quite obsolete and will continue to become obsolete as the champion pool gets more diluted. Here is the list of champions available from the 10X summoning event:
- Roshcard the Tower (Magic Affinity Legendary champion)
- Martyr (Spirit Affinity Legendary champion)
- Underpriest Brogni (Magic Affinity Legendary champion)
- Sir Nicholas (Void Affinity Legendary champion)
- Geomancer (Force Affinity Epic champion)
- Venomage (Magic Affinity Epic champion)
- Warcaster (Void Affinity Epic champion)
- Demytha (Void Affinity Epic champion)
Usually, in this type of 10X event, summoning is not recommended unless you are near the mercy system to your pity. This will mean you will be guaranteed a legendary grade champion once you hit the mercy and having a 10X higher chance to get your desired champion is still a better way than random champions. Plus, if you’re going to be summoning Ancient Shards for the Guaranteed Ancient Shard event for Raf-Matab, you might also have a chance to obtain Underpriest Brogni who is by far the best champion in this pool of 10X events, tied with Sir Nicholas from Void Shards.
Here are the skills of Underpriest Brogni:
Deepcrystal Scourge (Attack) – Attacks 1 enemy. Has a 45% chance of placing a [HP Burn] debuff for 2 turns.
Cavern’s Grasp (Attack) – Attacks all enemies. Has a 75% chance of removing 1 random buff from all enemies.
Has a 75% chance of removing 1 random debuff from all allies. Increases the value of [Shield] buffs on all allies by 30% of the damage inflicted.
Resilient Glow (Buff) – Places a [Block Debuffs] buff and a 50% [Increase ATK] on all allies for 2 turns. Also places a [Shield] buff on all allies for 2 turns equal to 30% of this Champion’s MAX HP. The [Shield] buff cannot be removed.
Redoubt (Passive) – Whenever an ally under a [Shield] buff is attacked, reflects 25% of the damage inflicted on the [Shield] back to the attacker. Also heals that ally by 25% of the damage inflicted on the [Shield].
If there are multiple Champions in the team with this Skill, only one will activate.
Aura (Leader Skill) – Increases Ally RESIST in Doom Tower battles by 60.
Let’s learn more about Sir Nicholas by looking at his abilities:
Boreal Blade (Attack) – Attacks 1 enemy. Has a 50% chance of placing a Freeze debuff for 1 turn. This debuff cannot be resisted.
Polar Protection (Attack) – Attacks all enemies. Places a Shield buff on all allies for 2 turns. The value of the Shield is equal to 30% of the damage inflicted.
Goodwill (Attack) – Places an Unkillable buff and a 15% Continuous Heal buff on all allies for 2 turns.
Aura (Leader Skill) – Increases Ally HP in all battles by 33%
As we can see, Sir Nicholas is quite the beast of a champion who can not only help you in Dungeons but also against the Clan Boss due to the Unkillable buff he provides for 2 turns. His skill multipliers are also quite good and scale with his MAX HP. Hence, he also enhances the survivability of allies with the massive Shields he can provide with his 2nd skill. Overall, we recommend going for Sir Nicholas only if you have enough Void Shards to hit your pity from the mercy system. This is because there are still a smaller number of Void legendary champions and the 10X Summoning event still makes some sense for Void Shards due to low dilution in the champion pool.
