Standoff 2 Season 9 Prey Update: New Mode, Maps & MMR

Standoff 2 has released its Season 9, titled “Prey,” which will make a colorful entry in the game with new Brazilian styles, a brand new mode, dual SMGs, and updated MMRs. This Update 0.33.0 was out on March 24th, 2025, and will span 8 weeks before ending on May 19th, 2025, offering players two months to complete all the missions and unlock the rewards.
Matchmaking Rating System (MMR)
To provide the players with a fairer ranking system, the MMR has been redeveloped. Changes in match outcomes, round differences, and personal performance, along with penalties for being AFK or leaving matches, have been included.
Match Results: Players at lower ranks will now earn more victory points and lose fewer points at defeat. This ensures optimal rank-up for new players who are still getting the hang of the game so that they do not delve too much at the loss. However, this function works the exact opposite in higher ranks.
Round Difference: This is a boon for the players for the players who put in a lot of effort to win the match. Their efforts will be rewarded with more points upon victory but even if they lose the match after giving it their all, fewer points will reduced.
Average MMR: Players can now expect more points if they win against a stronger team but if the same happens with a weaker team, it’s better not to expect many points.
Personal Performance: Players will now get rewarded with more points if they outperform their team even if they lose a match. However, no extra points will be deducted for laid-back performance either except if you leave the match in between.
Penalty: To deal with toxic players and insensitive gameplay, the developers have decided to deduct extra points from the players who randomly leave the match.

New Mode – Convoy
This new mode allows the players to compete in two teams at delivering cargo to its destination. Each team has its cargo with its route and final destination. The team has to control the Robotruck efficiently and effectively to deliver the cargo before their opponent team does. Here is a breakdown of this new mode:
- Team composition: 4 players in each team
- Maps: Sandstone, Breeze, Rust, and Zone 7
- Match Duration: 5 minutes (300 seconds)
- Armor: Full
- HP: 100
- Weapon Selection: the same as Escalation
- Victory: The team that delivers the cargo first will win. If none of the teams delivered the cargo in the designated time, the team who traveled the farthest would be chosen as the Winner.
New Maps
A total of 3 maps have been introduced in the game with one being a Team Deathmatch (TDM) map and the other two being Duel Maps. The TDM map has been introduced due to the popularity of the TDM maps whereas Duel Maps have been paid special attention as they are now in the ranked mode. All three new maps have been paid special attention to and cover a big part of Season 9.
Favelas (TDM Map)
This map is based on the theme of a Brazilian neighborhood and consists of tight spaces, making it a hotspot for close-quarters combat. With narrow alleys, bright houses, and a colorful atmosphere, this map allows the players to test their strategies.
Cableway (Duel Map)
Set in the mountain terrain, this map also features cable cars that travel between cross-platforms. This map is ideal for 1v1 or 2v2 combat and with the introduction of cable cars, a new dynamic has been introduced which paves the way for more interesting tactics.
Pipeline (Duel Map)
As the name suggests, the setting of the map revolves around an Industrial Zone with a massive Pipeline Network. This map features both wide and tight spaces with all the industrial equipment and containers present. Players just need to be at the right place at the right time to gain an advantage.
Dual SMGs – Akimbo Uzi
With an insane amount of fire rate and a heavy damage output, Akimbo Uzi is making its entrance into the game. With its huge magazine, you can fire enough bullets to take out an entire team without needing to reload. But as the wise men say, strong weapons need strong control, it is advised for the players to get the hang of this overpowered weapon before using it in ranked mode. Every coin has its two sides, similarly, this weapon also has its disadvantages as it requires a long time to reload so good luck if you empty your magazine before your enemy is killed.
Conclusion
This new update has brought forth a ton of new elements in the game. With the revamp in the MMR system, the gameplay is only going to get better and fairer. The introduction of the new maps along with the Dual SMGs adds a whole new level of thrill to the game as players deduce new strategies and tactics to overpower their opponents. The weapons have also been updated and gone through several changes to balance the gameplay experience.
