Ant Legion - Specialized Ant Tier List
There are many strategies to play Ant Legion: For the Swarm but the most effective strategy to improve your military and economic development is to have the best specialized ants in your colony. The game features a system where the player can collect specialized soldier and worker ants that play different types of leadership roles for the anthill. If you’re a competitive player, you always want to have the best specialized ants that will help you develop your colony.
There are many specialized ants that you can collect in the game but the best ones are the gold units that have extremely low pull rates in the gacha. Since they are so hard to find, you always want to look out for the best ones and save your premium currency to try to get those units instead while there is a banner that increases the chances of acquiring those specific ants.

Giant Ant
The Giant Ant is the ultimate tank unit with its ability to cheat the amount of damage it takes periodically. Unlike the other melee ants that only cheat damage taken when it is fatal, the Giant Ant can prevent damage even if it is non-fatal. This means that there is a chance that this unit blocks all incoming damage, especially if it is upgraded to level 2 where the chances of this ability triggering are increased to 30%.
It also has a great passive bonus that allows it to increase its own block rate, making it take even less damage from the enemy team. This ant is annoying to deal with because it can become almost impossible to take down especially if you’re not running a lot of damage output in your squad.
-
Fire Ant
The Fire Ant is probably the most popular ant in the world but it turns out that this unit is also a popular choice among competitive players in the game. This ant increases its damage fluctuation, which just basically increases its overall ability to deal damage consistently. It’s a simple explanation but competitive players know how important it is to be able to deal high bursts of damage at a time.
Out of all the DPS ants in the game, the Fire Ant has the highest source of consistent damage. Combining that with the fact that it’s a haste ant means that this unit can take down the enemy team relatively quickly, taking down their carries as soon as the fight begins. This passive bonus also doesn’t go down or ramp up like the other units so Fire Ants are useful as soon as the game begins.
-
Ponerine
Ponerine ants are another popular DPS unit that high-ranking players like to add to their teams. Unlike a lot of DPS ants that like to start the game strong, the Ponerine’s passive ability allows it to slowly ramp up its offensive stats as the fight progresses. This is extremely efficient if you have tanky frontline units like the Giant Ant to give you time to setup the rest of your units.
The Ponerine also has relatively high defensive stats and its increased ability to dodge attacks means that even AoE abilities can fail to take it down during crucial moments of the fight. This ant is one of the units that you don’t want to keep alive for too long because it can quickly take over the battle by itself once it fully stacks up its crit modifiers and overall damage output.
-
Lumia Ant
The Lumia Ant is another useful frontline character that rivals the Giant Ant in terms of usefulness in the team. Most teams only like to add one frontline unit to their squad so that they don’t have to sacrifice overall damage output. These two melee ants are both good at what they do and should be the only two that you should consider adding to your team if you have the resources to get them.
The Lumia Ant specializes in generating shields that counter an enemy’s attacks. Similar to the Giant Ant, it basically negates the effectiveness of an enemy’s attack so this unit will be able to stay in the fight longer.
-
Slender Ant
The Slender Ant is the highest early-round output unit in the game. At the start of the fight, this ant gains 70% more crit rate and an additional 30% crit rate from its secondary passive ability. This means that this unit is essentially attacking for a guaranteed critical hit at the beginning of the fight which may be able to take down the enemy’s units before they can even make a move.
This unit is a popular choice because there’s always a chance that it can high roll a victory from nowhere. If you’re in the lower ELOs, this is the top ant that you want to get because of the value that it provides by securing an advantage before the enemy is able to do anything else.
