Tips & Tricks to Playing Ant Legion: For the Swarm
People who play Ant Legion: For the Swarm for the first time tend to complain that the game is more complicated than they expected it to be because they are unfamiliar with the mechanics of real-time strategy games. Unfortunately, games from this genre tend to punish new players very badly since advanced players like to take advantage of casual players. That’s why it’s a good idea to learn the important game mechanics to keep up with the advanced players who are trying to survive until a winner is crowned.
Table of Contents
The ultimate goal of Ant Legion: For the Swarm is to survive until the end of the season while securing all of the key points on the map with your alliance. There are many things to keep in mind if you plan to play seriously but you don’t necessarily have to memorize them all the moment you start the game. It’s good to simply learn all of the most important tips and tricks that will help guide you toward the right path and help you succeed in the early stages of the game.
Using Speedups
Speedups are an abundant resource awarded to players during the early stages of their playthrough. The game will actually give players a ridiculous amount early on. The sad part is that a majority of players don’t like using the free speedups they get from the game because they’re trying to save it for a later time. However, the game gives so many speedups to the player that it’s actually more efficient to use them during the early stages of the game to skip those short waits immediately.
Speedups are more relevant during the early stages of your playthrough because they will accelerate your gameplay more. Being able to skip the timers on low-level upgrades will also be more cost-efficient because you are spending fewer amounts on speedups for each upgrade. Since high-level structures require hours of upgrading time, it’s not worth using your speedups on them because you’ll burn a ton of them for a single structure.
Complete Missions
Completing daily missions and chapter quests is the best way to accelerate your progress in Ant Legion: For the Swarm. The game provides players with a lot of incentives to do their missions by including a ridiculous amount of rewards for completing each task. This will allow you to reimburse the resources that you spend on your colony when you upgrade structures or train new soldiers. It’s a good idea to always check what missions you have for the day before doing anything in the game.
Daily missions are the most important tasks that you need to accomplish. Since those tasks reset every day, you’ll be able to collect lots of rewards from them as long as you reach 100% completion. Even if you don’t have the time to complete all of the tasks, you should still try to do as many as you can because of the rewards that you get. Don’t forget to claim your rewards or else you might end up losing all of the progress that you’ve made for the day.
Hunt Rare Ants
Specialized ants are the centerpiece of your military and there are even some good worker ants that will help you develop your colony’s economy. It’s important that you always try to hunt for rare specialized ants to add to your colony because it’ll give you a huge boost in the overall capacity of your progression. The strongest armies in Ant Legion: For the Swarm usually include Gold quality units that allow the player to accommodate more units in their army.
We’ve created an Ant Legion Tier List to help players keep an eye out for the best units that the game has to offer. We already explained that the Gold quality units are the best to have but realistically, you want to hunt for at least Purple quality ants that are decent enough to bolster your kingdom’s military and economy. Unfortunately, there is no consistent way to get the ants that you want so save up your tickets and premium currency so that you can attempt to get them when you can.
Make Use Of Your Army
It’s important for the player to make use of their army in Ant Legion. Players are usually divided into those who like to develop their colony peacefully and those that want to dominate the server by using their overwhelming military to attack nearby enemies. Even if you don’t want to engage in warfare, you should still try to develop a powerful army to defend your colony from potential threats, especially other players who might see that you are a good source of resources they can steal from.
If you already have an army that’s standing by, make use of them by sending them out to attack AI enemies or collect resource nodes. Each day the player is given a certain amount of action points they can use to send their army out to march. It’s a good idea to maximize those action points by using your army to collect resources for your colony. It’s also good to scout out the map for any inactive low-level players to practice how you can use your army to attack another player.
Join an Alliance
Joining an alliance should be at the top of your priority list as a new player. The game is very brutal because veteran players understand that the best way to succeed in the game is to take advantage of new players by attacking them with their overwhelming armies. If you don’t have any experience playing RTS games seriously before, you most likely won’t stand a chance against these players even if you try to learn all the efficient ways to defend your colony.
The best protection against aggressive players is to join a powerful alliance. Alliances allow the player to seek help from high players by pledging their colony’s resources and military power to their goal. Even the most powerful players will think twice about attacking a low-level colony if they belong to a powerful alliance because they don’t want to trigger a way between their factions.
