Asphalt 9: Legends – How to Obtain and Upgrade More Cars
Asphalt 9: Legends is all about taking outrageously expensive cars for crazy rides that would, in real life, immediately render them useless. In this mobile racing game, however, you can hit ramps and other vehicles, fly your car above the tracks, travel on all types of terrain, and never cause any damage. Sweet!
As soon as you complete the tutorial, you can feast your eyes on a selection of 60+ gorgeous cars that you could have in your virtual garage. Sadness will likely draw over you as you consider the fact that you might never unlock these beauties as an F2P player, but you shouldn’t sulk for too long. It might take a lot of dedication and grinding, but you can add any of the available cars in Asphalt 9: Legends to your garage without ever making a purchase!
Below, we’re about to show you how.
How to Add More Cars to Your Garage
In Asphalt 9: Legends, you have fairly little control over the cars you get using packs. To unlock a car, you must first collect enough of its cards (or blueprints), but short of purchasing deals with real currency, there’s no way to select which cards you get from a bundle. As an F2P player, you’ll likely be forced to build several vehicles at a time, which can be both a blessing and a curse. To speed up the process, you can do the following things:
Career Missions
The best way to start your playthrough in Asphalt 9: Legends is to tackle the missions in My Career. This mode of the game will help you unlock and star-up a number of cars across multiple classes. These might not be the best of the bunch, but they will allow you to take part in events where you can obtain cards for better cars. Just remember that, if you’re forced to play with a car you don’t necessarily plan to invest in later in the game, you should never upgrade it beyond the minimum requirements for career missions.
Daily Events
Every day of the week, these events give you the opportunity to race against the clock in order to obtain new blueprints. The Daily Car Loot event is the easiest to complete since you’re playing on your own in familiar settings. Depending on the class of the car you drive, you can gather blueprints for different vehicles, some of which are definitely worth the effort. Daily events require the use of 1 special ticket per ride, but you shouldn’t let this tempt you into buying more tickets with tokens. Just wait for the tickets to recharge and save your tokens for better opportunities.
Free Card Packs
The game hands out a free basic card pack once every four hours, so you should check in and grab the offer whenever you have the chance. If you don’t mind ads, you can also obtain free packs from watching them, but the quality of the blueprints you get from these pulls (and all pulls, in general) is affected by the level of your garage. As you grow this level, better car cards are added to your draw pull.
Multiplayer Races
These races are worth a shot even if you’re absolutely terrible at Multiplayer or have not yet had the chance to unlock better cars while staying true to your F2P creed. Just by attempting a race, you earn one cup. Provided that you remain perseverant, this will eventually add up and reward you with three free blueprint packs per day.
Club Milestones
Joining a club early on is one of the best ways to give your account a boost in the right direction. Competing across different game modes in Asphalt 9: Legends gives you Reputation Points (or RP), which are then added to your Club’s total reputation. The higher this number, the more milestones are unlocked and each player receives more rewards as a result.
The Legend Store
When you’re very close to unlocking a new car, but you fall just a few blueprints short, the Legend Store is one solution to push through. Every few hours, this store features new blueprints, some of which you can buy with credits and some of which require tokens. Each subsequent blueprint you buy for a car increases the price, though, so this is usually a good option only if you need 1-3 cards.
Your First S-Class Car
As an F2P player, your first S-class car is likely to be the Lamborghini Centenario. As soon as you unlock an A-class car, you can use it to complete the Daily Car Loot event in under 24 seconds and earn 1 blueprint for the Centenario. Do this for 40 days and the car is yours! You can then drive the S-class jewel through the Class-S Rookie, Class-S Pro, Hyper Roam, and Euro Motors circuits in My Career, where you will find all 40 blueprints required to unlock another gorgeous S-class car, the Vulcano Titanium.
How to Upgrade Your Favorite Cars
The Upgrades system in Asphalt 9: Legends is fairly straightforward, but this doesn’t mean it’s also cheap. Some S-class cars will require you to invest millions of credits in order to max them out, so you should think carefully about the best cars for your game before you go all in on a vehicle. These are the three upgrades currently available in Asphalt 9: Legends:
Credit Upgrades
Using Credits, you can boost a car’s Top Speed, Acceleration, Handing, and Nitro up to a predetermined cap. This will make the car perform better during races, as well as increase its max rank.
Import Parts
Once you hit certain upgrade stages for different aspects of a car, you can use import parts to further improve a stat. For example, having reached stage 4, we can use an Acceleration Camaro LT card to improve the acceleration of our Chevrolet. Like car cards, import parts can be found during career missions and purchased in the shop.
Aesthetic Changes
Adding more stars to a car unlocks visual features that have no bearing on the car’s performance, but that you can tweak in order to personalize your vehicle. These include custom colors, body parts, rims, and brake calipers, which can be collected from events and career missions.
Overall, upgrading cars in Asphalt 9: Legends is a matter of hoarding serious amounts of Credits, which is why we recommend you jump over to our guide to currencies and farming once you’re done here. It might take weeks and even months before you are able to unlock your favorite cars in this game, but don’t lose hope. Even for an F2P player, all vehicles are accessible given enough time!
