Understanding the Gameplay Mechanics of Horizon Walker

Horizon Walker is an auto-battler with a turn-based aspect that necessitates strategic placement and action sequence selection. You can form a team of up to five units, each with unique stats and talents that are appropriate for diverse roles such as attackers, tanks, and support. Mastering these combinations and action sequencing is critical to tackling difficult subjects. Combat in Horizon Walker has a unique Action Value (AV) system:

Action Bar: Characters take turns based on their AV. Characters with higher AV go first, and after they act, their AV decreases. Following each character’s turn, the remaining AV will be displayed. If it is less than 100 (monster’s AV), they will have to wait until the following turn.

Action Recovery: Each character recovers a defined amount of AV per round. Pay attention to the recovery rate and manage your skills and turns so that you can act before the adversary attacks.

Much like any other modern turn-based RPG, players can use the AI controlled auto mode to battle enemies without much stress. The game also harbors many Quality of life features such as 2X battle speed to save time in battles. While auto-mode is recommended for lower ranked enemies in the start, you will have much higher chances of success if you manually time the skills. Players can customize their line-ups with high quality characters to take down challenging foes.

Your character’s movement is divided into 2 parts – the red circle and the white circle. The former denotes the range of your character’s abilities, while the latter denotes the range of movement of your character.

Vanguards

Horizon Walker is a turn-based RPG wherein players need to customize their line-ups with collectible characters called “Vanguards”. These vanguards can be recruited via the innate summoning system, or can be acquired via contracts forged through events or new player quests. Players can collect different rarities of Vanguards, with the strongest being the EX tier, and the lowest being the B tier. Vanguards boast special abilities that can be used in combat to defeat enemies. Much like any other RPG game, you will be able to strengthen them in terms of raw stats and power.

Each Vanguard has access to several active and passive abilities. These abilities can also be empowered to reduce cooldown, increase damage, and increase utility of the skill. You will be constantly getting access to new Vanguards, hence, it’s important to decide your core party of 5 strongest characters. Do not spread your resources too thin across the board or else you will fail to progress fast in the early game.

The Fairynet

Horizon Walker is a gacha game, and the gacha system is called “Fairynet”. This gacha system is unique as players can only do 5 pulls at a time. The rates of summoning different rarities of Vanguards are fixed across all banners. They are as follows:

  • EX Vanguards – 1% chance of being summoned
  • SS Vanguards – 4% chance of being summoned
  • S Vanguards – 20% chance of being summoned
  • A Vanguards – 30% chance of being summoned
  • B Vanguards – 45% chance of being summoned

Each summon costs some amount of Extercium to do. For those unaware, this is the premium currency of the game and can be found via venturing in the adventure mode, completing new player quests, redeem codes, and events. Once you draw 5 heroes or weapons via the Fairynet, you can choose to purchase any of the summoned weapons or characters via Gold Coins. These coins are more free-to-play friendly currency and accumulate easily by completing quests. If you wish to not purchase anything, you can do that as well. We would recommend not purchasing low tier equipment and vanguards even though they are cheap.

Horizon Walker has multiple summoning banners running at the same time to give players a chance at recruiting strong Vanguards. At the time of writing, there exists 2 separate summoning banners:

  • Event Summoning Banner – Players can summon EX-B rarity vanguards from this summoning banner. You can use Extercium to summon heroes and Gold coins to purchase them. The rate-up Vanguard will have a higher chance of being summoned at 1%. Such banners are available only for a limited-time banner have an expiry date.
  • Permanent Summoning Banner – Players can summon EX-B rarity vanguards of all factions from this summoning banner. You can use Extercium to summon heroes and Gold coins to purchase them. No special vanguards will be available at a higher rate-up. This banner is available permanently.

Faith System

Horizon Walker boasts an interactive Faith system to help players acquire resources easily even when they are not playing the game. Such mechanics are common among Idle games, and they entail that players will get some resources as rewards even while being offline or AFK. The quantity and quality of these rewards is directly proportional to the amount of progress you have made in enhancing your Human God (main character) and the Devotion level. Devotion level refers to your overall account level. As your devotion level increases, the amount of rewards earned per hour also increases.

To play Horizon Walker on a bigger screen of your PC or Laptop, it is highly recommended to use BlueStacks along with your keyboard and mouse.
