The Best Hero Blaze: Three Kingdoms Generals That will Help You Steamroll the Game
Earlier this week, we published our official tier list for the new Hero Blaze: Three Kingdoms gacha RPG. And while you can find the absolute best heroes in the game on that list, we didn’t really explain what makes these characters so great (or bad). And considering that there are over 300 different heroes to unlock in this game, it’s fair to say that it will be exceedingly difficult to obtain the ones we mentioned on that occasion.
With that being said, in this article, we’ll be going over the best characters in Hero Blaze and explaining why they earned their spots on this list. The idea here is that you can learn to identify good characters, and then use this knowledge to create your own teams and tier lists.
Let’s begin!
S Tier
These are the absolute best characters in the game. As we mentioned in our Hero Blaze: Three Kingdoms tier list, if you’re going to be rerolling in this game, these are the ones you’ll want to aim for.
-
Awoken Guan Yu (7-Star, Shu, Penetration Type)
Arguably the strongest character in the entire game, with a base 3% chance of instantly defeating any lesser enemy, while dealing a strong critical hit to bosses instead. Awoken Guan Yu’s special skill lets him summon an army of spearmen to attack all enemies on screen, dealing heavy damage and freezing them for 5.5 seconds. This special move can easily clear the entire screen of enemies, instantly taking you to the next wave. And when used against bosses, it can turn a tough battle into an easy one.
If you’re ever rerolling in Hero Blaze, this is arguably the best choice you could ever hope to receive from any summoning, though it’s also one of the hardest to obtain, given that 7-star units only have a 0.65% of appearing on any Premium Summoning. With that being said, most 7-star heroes are also very competent, and we suggest keeping your account if you manage to get one of these, even if they’re not Awoken Guan Yu.
-
Vengeful Zhang Bao (7-Star, Shu, Explosive Type)
This one is a more offensive alternative to Awoken Guan Yu, as Vengeful Zhang Bao can inflict much more damage with his special skill. And while he can’t freeze enemies, he can inflict a powerful weakening debuff to the lucky few who manage to survive. And as if that wasn’t enough, Zhang Bao also has a permanent 10% bonus to his AGI, which can be upgraded up to 20%, along with a chance to inflict burning on every auto attack. And considering that this is an explosive-type hero, he can easily set entire waves of enemies on fire with just a few attacks.
Vengeful Zhang Bao is actually a great alternative to Guan Yu, though his attack type might leave a bit to be desired.
-
King of Wei Cao Pi (7-Star, Wei, Rapid Fire Type)
This character offers the best of both worlds since, despite being a rapid fire type hero, he has a chance of inflicting a penetration critical hit that not only goes through multiple enemies, but also leaves them inflicted with a nasty curse. This penetration chance happens only on 7% of his attacks at first, but can be upgraded to happen up to 15% of the times. And considering that King of Wei Cao Pi is a rapid fire type character, these critical hits will be occurring all the time, making him into a veritable killing machine on the field.
However, those who survive his onslaught of critical hits will have another hazard to deal with: Cao Pi’s special skill, which deploys a cloud of noxious gasses that deal heavy damage, while leaving all enemies afflicted with poison, dealing extra damage every second. This combination of offerings makes this character into one of the strongest in the game, especially when going up against the tougher enemies who can actually survive long enough to suffer the full brunt of his poison attacks.
-
King of Wei Cao Cao (7-Star, Wei, Penetration Type)
The designated boss slayer in the game, whose special passive lets him deal heavy additional damage to enemies 6% of the time. This damage corresponds to 15% of the enemy’s maximum HP, and can be upgraded to up to 20%. And while this skill caps out at a maximum limit of 1,000% damage per instance, the probability of triggering can be upgraded up to 10%, which means that it’ll activate quite frequently.
This boss busting passive pairs amazingly well with Cao Cao’s active skill, which increases his ATK by 50%, his attack speed by 100%, and makes him invulnerable to all damage for up to 6 seconds. This increased attack speed results in more procs of Cao Cao’s passive, which in turn makes him into one of the best characters for fighting against bosses in Hero Blaze.
A Tier
Though not nearly as strong as the ones above, these are still very powerful heroes. In other words, if you can’t beat the odds and unlock any of the 7-star characters in the S tier, these ones will also easily carry you to the end.
-
Zhao Yun of Changshan (6-Star, Shu, Penetration Type)
This character is a master of CC effects as he can keep enemies locked down with freezing debuffs both with his basic attacks, as well as with his special skill. Specifically, his passive gives Zhao Yun a 5% chance to inflict a critical hit that affects all enemies in a cross pattern, with a 50% to leave them frozen for a few seconds. This critical hit chance makes this character quite effective at clearing out most enemy formations, despite him being a penetration type hero that is usually better at dealing with enemies that are standing in a straight line.
While Zhao Yun’s passive lets him make short work of most enemies, his special skill is the icing on the cake, as it lets him deal decent damage to all enemies, while leaving them frozen for up to 6 seconds. In this sense, while his damage isn’t the best, Zhao Yun can easily emerge out of most battles unscathed, since his enemies will be too frozen to actually make a move.
-
Detonative Wei Yiang (5-Star, Shu, Explosive Type)
While explosive types are not often regarded as powerful characters in Hero Blaze, Detonative Wei Yiang is the exception to this sentiment, considering that he has one very compelling offering: His powerful special skill that inflicts a whopping 2,880% damage to all enemies in a straight line, while also inflicting them with a weakness debuff for 2.5 seconds after the fact.
While his main draw is obviously his exceedingly powerful special skill, Wei Yiang can also inflict decent damage with his basic attacks, especially if his passive procs. This passive skill lets him unleash a laser beam that affects all enemies in a straight line and inflicts a poison debuff on them. In other words, Detonative Wei Yiang is as close as you’ll get to an actual one-man army in this tier, especially if you pair him with allies that can increase the rate at which his special skill recharges, such as Mysterious Yueyiang.
-
Zhang Fei of War (5-Star, Shu, Explosive Type)
Another explosive type hero, but this time with a single gimmick that makes him stand out: At the beginning of every wave, Zhang Fei immediately eliminates two enemy units, decreasing the time it takes to clear the entire formation. However, if the enemy is a boss, this skill instantly reduces their HP by 9% instead, softening them up considerably.
While Zhang Fei isn’t very strong by himself, this passive ability makes him earn a spot in some team setups, though you might want to supplement his lackluster damage with another stronger unit, such as Detonative Wei Yiang.
-
Mysterious Yueying (5-Star, Shu, Rapid Fire Type)
This character earns her spot here for one important reason: Her passive skill increases the rate at which her team’s special skills charge up, therefore bumping up the number of times you can actually perform them in a single battle. And while the rest of her kit is quite lacking, especially as far as damage is concerned, this passive makes her more than worth keeping around in your team.
With that being said, pair Mysterious Yueying with at least one character from the S tier, and you’re basically set for the rest of your time in Hero Blaze.
B Tier
These are your average heroes, some of which will be in your team from the very beginning. Though they’re not bad, you’ll definitely want to replace them as soon as you get better generals.
-
Commanding Liu Bei (5-Star, Shu, Rapid Fire Type)
The first two characters in this tier are great because, while they’re quite decent in performance, you also get them for free from the very beginning, which gives you a solid start in Hero Blaze.
Commanding Liu Bei is a strong rapid fire type hero that can easily dispatch most enemy formations. Especially if you play Hero Blaze: Three Kingdoms on PC with BlueStacks, through which you can enjoy a superior control scheme using your mouse and keyboard, you can easily zip around the field with Liu Bei and dispatch most enemy formations with ease. However, while he’s quite competent, this character is far from being the best, especially because his passive skill isn’t very good. Nevertheless, his active skill more than makes up for it, since it allows him to deal heavy damage to all enemies.
Liu Bei will definitely be your go-to DPS character at the beginning, mostly thanks to his decent damage and excellent special skill. Nevertheless, you’ll want to replace him as soon as you unlock a better rapid type, such as Da Qiao Under the Moon, or even Unyielding Sun Jian.
-
White Dragon Guan Yu (5-Star, Shu, Penetration Type)
Despite being a 5-star general, White Dragon Guan Yu is exceedingly strong for his rank, particularly because he has a 1.8% chance on every single attack to instantly defeat the target, regardless of their remaining health. As such, he shines brightly against waves of lesser enemies. And while this skill doesn’t outright kill bosses when it procs, it results in an automatic critical hit, making him into a decent boss killer as well.
All of this is without even mentioning Guan Yu’s special skill, which inflicts a whopping 1,440% damage to all enemies and leaves them frozen for 2.5 seconds. This combination of passive and active skills makes him into a very, very powerful unit to have at the beginning, to the point where we even recommend keeping him around, instead of replacing him on the first chance that you get.
-
Da Qiao Under the Moon (5-Star, Wu, Rapid Fire Type)
A powerful character whose special skills are straightforward and effective, allowing her not only to inflict decent damage to enemies, but also to keep them under control with stun effects. Of particular note here is Da Qiao’s passive skill, which gives her a chance to deal critical damage in a cross-shaped pattern, affecting multiple enemies with a single attack. And considering that she’s a rapid fire type, this passive skill will be activating constantly throughout the battle.
As far as raw power is concerned, you could do much worse than Da Qiao Under the Moon.
-
Unyielding Sun Jian (5-Star, Wu, Rapid Fire Type)
Remember when we said Detonative Wei Yiang was strong because of his powerful special skill? Well, Unyielding Sun Jian has the exact same skill, but even stronger, inflicting a mind-boggling 3,360% damage to all enemies in a straight line, and leaving them weakened for 4 seconds afterward. However, the reason why Sun Jian is in a lower tier is because his passive isn’t as good as Wei Yiang’s, only boosting his critical chance and the damage of his critical hits slightly.
Just like with White Dragon Guan Yu, however, Unyielding Sun Jian is one of the best Hero Blaze characters that you’ll want to keep around for as long as possible.
C Tier
These are the characters that you’ll definitely want to avoid at all costs. Either because their skills are weak, or just plain bad and useless, you will never want any of these on your team.
-
Greedy Dong Zhuo (5-Star, WH, Rapid Fire Type)
One particular aspect that you’ll notice from the generals in this tier is that they’re not only weak in terms of active skills, but their passive skills are utilitary and mostly ineffectual in combat. For example, Greedy Dong Zhuo has an active skill that deals decent damage and inflicts poison on the enemy, but his passive skill only increases the range at which he can pick up items and gold in combat. And while this bonus will help improve your farming a bit, it’s completely useless in actual fights.
The current meta doesn’t contemplate these utility skills, which is why units like Greedy Dong Zhuo simply don’t belong anywhere.
-
Brave Pei Yuanshao (4-Star, WH, Penetration Type)
This is a great example of why 4-star heroes aren’t the way to go in Hero Blaze. Even if they had decent passives (which this one definitely doesn’t have), their actual numbers are much lower than usual, limiting their utility.
Case in point, Brave Pei Yuanshao has a decent enough special skill, though his passive skill is mostly useless, only increasing his team’s HP by 26%. The problem with having more health is that it’s completely ineffectual if you can’t actually deal enough damage to defeat your enemies. And this problem is no more apparent than in characters like this one.
-
Tough Gao Shun (5-Star, WH, Penetration Type)
This general is a hard sell, considering that his special skill is arguably the strongest when it comes to single target damage. However, his passive skill is absolutely useless, only decreasing the damage taken from enemies by 7%. Nevertheless, when it comes to raw firepower, Tough Gao Shun is probably the best character in this tier, and you could actually make him work effectively in certain formations, especially when fighting against bosses.
All in all, this one could be a keeper on the right team, though we still need more experimentation before we can say for sure.
-
Upright Chen Gong (5-Star, WH, Rapid Fire Type)
This character is lackluster for the same reason as the above; his passive skill is mostly ineffectual, only decreasing the duration of negative status effects by 14%, which is essentially useless in most encounters. On top of that, Upright Chen Gong doesn’t even have a strong special skill to make up for it, unlike Gao Shun.
Avoid this one, and all others like him, at all costs.
-
Most base 4-Star and below characters.
This one is mostly self-explanatory, particularly because 4-star characters and everything below them are the absolute worst of the worst in Hero Blaze: Three Kingdoms. In other words, you’ll never want any of these on your squad, unless you have no other choice. However, if you’re just getting started, and could only get a 4-star or weaker character from the gacha, we strongly recommend just starting over.
As you can probably see, the point of this Hero Blaze: Three Kingdoms tier list isn’t to cover every single character, but rather to give you an idea of what to look for when building your teams. As such, even if you don’t get any of the top tier characters mentioned here, you can actually create your own powerful teams by using the knowledge in this article.
