We have broken down the essentials of gameplay, strategy, and survival in easy-to-understand terms so players who have never played mobile games before can relate.

Understanding the Gameplay Mechanics of Kepler-2100

At its core, Kepler-2100 features a thematic space exploration gameplay combined with ship management game modes. Players are going to role-play as space explorers, complete with a large spaceship, battleships, and much more. Your goal is to harvest resources found in space in abundance using different technological breakthroughs and empowerments. Fight other explorers in this quest to reach the apex of human civilization. After you start out, the developers have added quick tutorials to understand what each of the resources does and how to cultivate them.

Players need to unlock and upgrade different segments of their ship. There are 2 distinct components to this process – Main Base buildings and Research. While the former helps you gather and store resources, the latter helps in utilization of these resources. Both the components are important to upgrade, but on a personalized note, we would prefer upgrading your base first. You can spend ample time upgrading research buildings but reach nowhere, thanks to the overwhelmingly vast amount of nodules that you will need to upgrade. The base also requires tons of resources to upgrade but at least the effects can be seen immediately.

Commander Abilities

One of the more interesting and customizable parts about Kepler-2100 are Commander abilities. These special passive boosts can be awakened by inserting commander points in the Commander tab. For those unaware, you can access this part by clicking on your profile icon. Each level grants the player 1 commander point. As you level up, you can acquire more commander points to unlock new boosts or upgrade existing ones. The commanding abilities are divided into 12 separate parts:

  • Frigate (Battleship)
  • Destroyer (Battleship)
  • Cruiser (Battleship)
  • Engineering Corvette (Battleship)
  • Carbon (Resource)
  • Silicon (Resource)
  • Metal (Resource)
  • Uranium (Resource)
  • Aluminium (Resource)
  • Manganese (Resource)
  • Chromium (Resource)
  • Titanium (Resource)

As you can see above, 4 of the boosts are pertaining to the battleships under your command, while the other 8 boosts are pertaining to the different types of resources players need to collect. For the battleships, players can use commander points to upgrade attack, defense, repair speed, durability, and movement speed. For the different resources, players can invest their commander points to increase mining speed.

Quests

Kepler-2100 features an in-depth questing system that aids new players get access to resources on top of guiding them on what to do next. Many of the quests are pertaining to building and upgrading different aspects of your base and Research technology. Players will need to do them anyways, so doing them in the form of quests just adds another layer of rewards on top of it, making the gameplay experience more enjoyable. The quests are divided into multiple parts, depending on your current exploration level and commander level.

As you complete more quests, they will gradually get harder to complete, mostly due to the abysmal amount of time taken by buildings to upgrade. If you’re confused on what to do next, simply click on any quest on the left-hand side of the main menu, and the game UI will automatically take you to the task area.

Shipyard

The Shipyard is the place where all your acquired battleships can be viewed, upgraded, repaired, and much more. The battleships are those ships that can participate in battles. Each ship has some base stats such as Attack, Defense, Repair speed, attack speed, movement speed, and durability. Battleships come in different tiers, starting from T1 all the way to T5. The higher the tier, the stronger the base stats and more unique abilities. Further, battleships come in 4 distinct types:

  • Frigate – Frigates are often smaller and slower than destroyers, however the distinction is minimal in current times. They are outfitted with enhanced sonar and specialized armaments such as torpedoes, Limbo, and ASROC or Ikara. Frigates are used to escort missions, guard trade convoys, and engage in anti-submarine warfare.
  • Destroyer – Destroyers are larger than frigates and carry more weapons. They can also provide indirect fire support for space troops.
  • Cruiser – Cruiser are large-scale ships that have very high durability, attack, and movement speed. These ships can carry large amounts of resources at a time.
  • Engineering Corvette – Corvettes, the smallest class of warship, are fast, nimble, and geared for coastal defense. They are equipped with medium and small-caliber guns, surface-to-surface missiles, and anti-submarine armaments.
