Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds makes use of the Unreal 4 Engine and is the 6th installment in the Ni no Kuni video game series by Level 5 with the current one being developed by Level 5 as well but being published by Netmarble for the global audience. The animations are buttery smooth, vivid, and a treat to look at, as expected from Studio Ghibli who are responsible for these crisp animations. The downside currently is that the game only supports a maximum limit of 50 FPS which isn’t entirely bad but definitely ruins the smooth experience a player can get at full 60 FPS or 90 FPS, a common trend observed with high-profile games.
Players play as beta testers for the virtual world of Soul Divers and can feel free to choose between 5 different classes that are unique to each other as well as serve different purposes in a team formation. Players can refer to Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds classes and skills guide to get more information and choose their favored class as once chosen, they cannot be reversed unless players want to restart their progress.
As discussed previously, players can get their hands on different elemental Familiars which are like pets and provide assistance in combat. Each familiar has a unique skill as well as different passive skills. Each player can equip a maximum of 3 different familiars at a time. Familiars can be obtained by hatching Familiar Eggs or by using the summoning system to get their hands on some of the strongest Familiars available in the game. Currently, there exist 3 different rarities of Familiars and each of them is available from the gacha system at different probabilities with the highest rarity having the lowest probability to be summoned and the lowest rarity having the highest probability to be summoned. Here are the different rarities and their probabilities:
- 4-Star Familiars – 4% Rate to be summoned
- 3-Star Familiars – 36% Rate to be summoned
- 2-Star Familiars – 60% Rate to be summoned
