Once Human Tips and Tricks: Best Ways to Survive and Thrive
While open-world games have lost their charm as more of them seem to be monotonous in their gameplay and approach, Once Human is a survival horror game that features rich story, AAA graphics, and a strong fandom eagerly waiting for it’s global release. The game can be quite overwhelming for new players, but thankfully we have a set of tips and tricks to help you kickstart your adventures the right way! Let’s begin!
Tip #1. Keep Checking your Journey
If you ever feel lost in Once Human, it’s highly advised that you simply check the “Journey” of your character. You will see a variety of tasks mentioned in this journey journal, all of which you need to complete. For those wondering how you can access the menu, simply press J on your keyboard if you’re playing on a PC or Laptop, or go to the Menu -> Journey if you’re playing on a mobile device.
Journey is essentially a long-winded tutorial that is broken down into multiple small tasks for the players to enjoy the game and learn the basics. These tasks are quite rewarding and provide the player with experience and other resources upon task completion. It’s healthy to check out these tasks and stroll around to discover more about your character. We would also recommend completing them at your own free will. Ideally, complete 1 task at a time to stay clear of any distractions.
Tip #2. Territory is a Tangible Asset, Not Fixed
Once Human packs a punch in the building and construction aspect. Players can design their very own homes and construct them accurately. In fact, one of the first missions in the game is to build a territory for yourself. While territories can be demolished and destroyed by hostile players or other invaders, it’s natural to grow affectionate for your home. Our tip would be to not do that, since you will need to constantly re-locate your settlement in hopes of avoiding trouble. Oftentimes, you will find that the initial place of your settlement is not apt due to lack of resources and wilderness.
Luckily, Once Human has an in-built re-location feature that allows you to transport your settlement from one place to another. All you have to do is go to Building Move and select “relocate.” It’s a great feature that allows you to bring your house with you wherever you go.
Tip #3. Joining a Hive
Whether you’re on a PvE or PvP server, the lone ranger approach may not work in Once Human. For PvE, you have a variety of creatures to defeat, which can be a headache on any Meta-Human’s side. On the other hand, PvP is unacceptable, and being shot by five people at the same time is not enjoyable or fair.
Joining a Hive is the best option to increase your presence, and actively gain new partners to travel with. Go to the social panel and create or join one. If you prefer the latter, look for someone who engages in similar activities as you. Some gamers prefer to craft and build, while others enjoy wreaking havoc on the landscape. In the end, it all boils down to your personal choice.
Tip #4. Upgrading Buildings and Settlements
One of the most important components of Once Human is improving your infrastructure, which includes smelting, pickaxe improvements, and resource identification. Concentrate on the middle row of improvements, especially the pickaxe upgrades and casting. These improvements enable you to harvest higher-level materials, which may then be utilized to create stronger weapons and armor. Better gear will dramatically boost your damage output and XP gains.
Tip #5. Simply Survive
A lot of the players are overthinking on what they can do but often forget what they “need” to do. Survival is the key aspect of playing Once Human. The game has various metrics set in place to help you survive, provided that you continue to fulfil them. Sleep, hunger, thirst, are natural human instincts that have not been replaced even when you’re a meta-human.
Keeping track of your diet, sanity, and water is essential for peak performance in Once Human. To recharge your sanity, take sanity gummies and cook ordinary meat or grilled mushrooms for food. Consider purchasing a refrigerator or meat dryer to preserve food and keep it from rotting. In addition, keep your hydration and energy levels above 30% to maintain movement speed, stamina, and weapon damage.
Players can enjoy Once Human even more on a bigger screen of their PC or Laptop, complete with your keyboard and mouse via BlueStacks!
