One of the biggest launches in 2024 remains to be that of the survival strategy game Once Human. Developed by Exptional Global, a subsidiary of Netease Games, the game boasts AAA graphics, thematic music, and an intriguing game design. Once Human boasts both PvP and PvE game modes for the engagement and enjoyment of players. You will forge many new bonds and friendships along the way. Albeit the PvE game modes are crucial for your progression, PvP solely exists to demonstrate your strength and team-coordination. This guide covers everything we know so far pertaining to PvP in Once Human!

Multi-Server Capability

Once Human harbors a multi-server approach for the enjoyment of players. Having multiple servers doesn’t load a single server and distributes the load evenly, resulting in short load times and no lags. Data cannot be shared between servers. One of the biggest differences between the multi-server approach of Once Human and other games remains to be differentiation based on PvE and PvP. There are multiple distinct PvE and PvP servers, each with their own pros and cons.

Depending on the player’s mindset, they can choose either a PvE or PvP server. Again, data is not shared between the servers. This means that if you have a friend that you want to play with on another server, you will need to create a separate account and progress in that server. At the time of writing, cross-server gameplay is not supported. One bonus point is that players can create characters on multiple servers, each retaining their progress and data.

Worlds

To reduce server congestion, each server is divided into numerous “Worlds“. Players can freely swap between worlds on the same server. When you move Worlds, all of the gear and things in your inventory will follow you, but any buildings you have built will remain in the World in which they were made. You can, however, utilize the Move Territory option to pack up your buildings and move them to a new World, allowing you to join friends or form a new Warband.

There are some contestable regions on the map, including medium-sized Strongholds and Resource Points that players can occupy. These locations are not divided into separate Worlds, therefore all players on a given server can see each other when inside a contestable area. Contestable locations are risky. Players in these locations are required to engage in PvP combat, which involves fighting other players and looting their resources.

What is the Chaos State in Once Human?

Chaos State is a special state in Once Human that players can either enter manually by pressing the P button, or they will be automatically inside it due to certain in-game actions. Players in this state are called “Chaos players”. It is essentially a destructive state during which players can attack other players or their buildings. It also means that all players can target other Chaos players, making them vulnerable to losses. A new stat called “Chaos” will be added to all players in the Chaos state. This chaos stat is loosely based on how much of a chaotic player you are. Each player enters the Chaos state with some Chaos stats, and the value of this stat depends on how you entered this state.

Chaos players can increase their chaos stat depending on how hostile they are to other players and the environment. These players can only exit this state once their chaos stat falls to 0. Players cannot form teams with other players who are not in the same state; for example, Chaos players cannot form teams with non-Chaos players. If a player on your squad enters the Chaos state, they are automatically eliminated from the team. If four Chaos players join forces, they will all remain in a Chaos condition until the team is disbanded. It’s also worth noting that players under level 10 have a Novice Protection Period during which they can’t enter a Chaos state and are immune to harm from Chaos players.

PvP V/S PvE Servers in Once Human

Now that we have already cleared that Once Human has different servers for PvE and PvP, it’s time to understand the differences between them. PvE servers are exclusively made for players who like to explore the open-world of the game on top of clearing out different dungeons with your friends. PvP servers harbor many combat scenarios pertaining to fighting with other players.

Chaos players on PvP servers can attack any other player of level 10 or higher at any moment, regardless of whether the other player is in a Chaos condition or not. In PvE servers, however, Chaos players can only assault other Chaos players and their buildings. In PvE servers, non-Chaos players will be immune to PvP damage.

If you build turrets or any other form of device in your territory on a PvP server, they will automatically attack any chaos players in the vicinity. In a PvE server, your buildings will be vulnerable to attack from players in the Territory purification process. Post this, they will also function the same way and attack any chaos players seen in the range.

Echo Stones

Ancient One’s remains that fell off on the ground are called Echo Stones. These stones contain great power but can corrupt even the best of humans. They are rich in certain types of resources but whenever you carry them in your inventory, they will automatically put you in a Chaos state. This in turn makes you vulnerable to attacks by other players who might try to steal this valuable item. Safely carry it to your territory and process it to remove the dangerous remains of the Ancient One. Doing this will help you exit the chaos state and grant you several rich resources in return contained deep within this stone.

Playing Once Human on a bigger screen of your PC or Laptop with BlueStacks without worrying about battery drainage and smooth gameplay, is highly recommended.
