Summoners War: Chronicles Beginner’s Guide – Understanding the Basics of the Game
Summoners War: Chronicles, the MMORPG by Com2US is nearing its launch for the global player base. Harboring the same monsters as the rest of the other games from the Summoners franchise, Summoners War: Chronicles seems to follow a different type of gameplay and art style which we have never seen before from a Com2US game. Contending as a competitor to the likes of Genshin Impact and Tower of Fantasy, Summoners War: Chronicles follows a similar art style, world development, open-world action-based combat system, and more. Players will be thrilled to know that Summoners War: Chronicles received a well-above rating of 4.5 in Korea, which is the home region of the company. Garnering over 1 million pre-registrations and the aggressive marketing backed by game giant Com2US, players can expect Summoners War: Chronicles to be one of the hottest releases for mobile as we near the end of 2022. Players will be able to download and install Summoners War: Chronicles as a free-to-play game on both Google Play Store and iOS App Store. The game does support in-game microtransactions.
Featuring over 350 monsters from the franchise of Summoners War, players can expect a ton of collectability options for collectors and lovers of the gacha genre. One of the strengths that the developers are consistently rowing about Summoners War: Chronicles is the different art styles of the game which will lure players from all genres. The game seems to have let go of the cartoonish art style which we have seen in games from Com2US in the past, such as Summoners War: Sky Arena and Summoners War: Lost Centuria. The official website of Summoners War: Chronicles global version is live as we speak and accepting pre-registrations. Players can receive hefty rewards when the game launches along with a chance of winning real-life goodies.
In this guide for Summoners War: Chronicles, we will be explaining some of the basics that every new player for the game will be asking. We have tried our best in explaining each of the topics in depth and detail. All the details we cover are specially designed for new players of the genre and might come out as too simplistic for veterans of the genre. The topics we will be covering in this guide are as follows:
- Basics of the Gacha System in Summoners War: Chronicles
- Combat System and Battle Mechanics of Summoners War: Chronicles
- The progression system in Summoners War: Chronicles
Understanding the Gacha System
The gacha system of Summoners War: Chronicles is quite simple and straightforward. Players can summon monsters or “pets” in the game’s official terminology. Currently, the game only allows for summoning for pets but the developers have stated possibly adding weapon summons in the future. Players can summon different elemental monsters of different rarities from the gacha system. The gacha section is denoted by a “ticket” symbol in the main menu of the game or simply by toggling the triple bar menu from the left-hand side of the main menu. Summoners War: Chronicles has brutally low rates for its highest rarity monsters which makes it quite an achievement if players manage to summon a 5-Star hero. Here are the summoning rates provided in the game for all rarities of monsters:
- 5-Star Monsters (1% probability of being obtained)
- 4-Star Monsters (9% probability of being obtained)
- 3-Star Monsters (90% probability of being obtained)
As we can see from above, the rates for summoning the best monsters are quite absurd. Summoners War: Chronicles has even worse rates than many other gacha games of a similar genre. The highest rarity monsters are available at the lowest rates while the lowest rarity monsters are available at the highest rates. Luckily, Summoners War: Chronicles does offer a pity system in the game. Players who have summoned 70 times on any single banner are guaranteed a “Legendary Summoning Scroll”. Players can guarantee summoning a 4-5 Star monster by using this scroll. However, this Legendary Summoning Scroll itself has a very low chance of summoning a 5-Star monster. Hence, we highly recommend that you re-roll with the pre-registration rewards for at least 1 5-Star monster before starting your journey in the game. Coming to the different types of summoning banners, here are the most popular ones players will see when they start a new account in Summoners War: Chronicles:
- Beginner Recruitment Summoning Banner – This is the first banner that every new player coming to the game will be thrown at after they complete the tutorial. Keep in mind that players can only summon on this recruitment banner. Players are given 10 pulls each with each pull guaranteeing a 5-Star monster. Only 1 5-Star monster can be acquired per 10 pulls. The roster of 5-Star monsters available from this recruitment banner is limited, Players can do the 10 pulls up to 30 times and keep the one they desire. The recruitment banner disappears after you have collected your desired 10-pull summon rewards.
- Normal Summoning Banner – The Normal summoning banner Is going to be the generic summoning banner where players can summon 1-4 Star monsters available in the game. Players require using Normal Summoning Scrolls to summon on this banner. This banner has no pity attached to it.
- Normal Mystical Summoning Scroll – The Mystical summoning banner Is going to be the generic summoning banner where players can summon 3-5 Star monsters available in the game. Players require using Mystical Summoning Scrolls to summon on this banner. This banner has a pity of 70 summons for a Legendary Summoning Scroll attached to it.
- Rate-UP Summoning Banner – The Rate-UP summoning banner is going to feature the newest monster released in the game or in general any 5-Star monsters in the game. Players can summon 3-5 Star monsters from this banner. Players require using Mystical Summoning Scrolls or Crystals to summon on this banner. This banner has a pity of 70 summons for a Legendary Summoning Scroll attached to it.
- Fire Summoning Scrolls – The Fire summoning scroll allows players to summon only 3-5 Star Fire elemental monsters available in the game. This banner has no pity attached to it.
- Water Summoning Scrolls – The Water summoning scroll allows players to summon only 3-5 Star Water elemental monsters available in the game. This banner has no pity attached to it.
- Wind Summoning Scrolls – The Wind summoning scroll allows players to summon only 3-5 Star Wind elemental monsters available in the game. This banner has no pity attached to it.
- Legendary Summoning Scrolls – The Legendary summoning scroll allows players to summon only 4-5 Star monsters available in the game. This banner has no pity attached to it.
Combat System and Battle Mechanics
The combat system of Summoners War: Chronicles is quite fun and versatile for players who like to engage in skill-targeted combat systems. Players can drag and deploy their moves and abilities that they have equipped on their character while auto-casting monster abilities. The combat system of Summoners War: Chronicles gets tricky at the higher levels as players have limited options to dodge incoming attacks. Good knowledge of positioning on the battlefield is required to face high-level raids. The game is rich in both PvE and PvP content, which is astonishing for a new game such as Summoners War: Chronicles. Players can make a formation of 3 different monsters to assist them in battles. We have a dedicated tier list for the strongest monsters to have in your team for faster progression. Further, players will be delighted to know that Summoners War: Chronicles also supports controllers as it has cross-platform playability.
Your own character is the only thing you can control on the entire battlefield and the rest of your monsters (pets) move according to where you are. Players can actively switch between their monsters. But if they are currently engaged in a battle, this feature gets locked out. Each player has access to 4 types of skills and abilities:
- Active Abilities – These are the abilities that have a cooldown associated with them. Generally, the cooldown is represented in seconds but you can toggle to change it in minutes. A majority of the active abilities need to be cast by the user towards a particular location or it’s auto-deployed if engaging in Auto-Battles where the AI (Artificial Intelligence) controls your character. Players can replace these Active abilities by going to the character menu.
- Passive Abilities – These are the abilities which have do not have a cooldown associated with them. The effects of the passive ability are always in action till the time your character/monster has fainted. Players can replace these Passive abilities by going to the character menu.
- Dodge Button – The Dodge button is located on the left-hand side of the combat screen. Players can use the dodge button to hastily move in a particular targeted direction.
- Normal Attack – The Normal attack button is located at the center of the combat screen. Players can use their normal attacks when clicking on this button.
Coming to the battle mechanics in Summoners War: Chronicles, the game follows a strategic system of element v/s element matching. In this system, each element is weaker or stronger than another element. The element of your character and your abilities are determined by the weapon your character is wielding in battles. Players can switch between weapons to change their abilities and element. However, they cannot do this in between an active battle.
Progression System Explained
Summoners War: Chronicles is an MMORPG game by heart even though it has tons of gacha and open-world exploration mechanics. Players can get tons of player experience by completing quests, side stories, raids, PvP game modes, exploration, etc.
Main Quests are those quests that give players a crystal-clear objective of where to go and which rewards the quests will give you upon completion. One of the staples of all MMORPGs, the main quests are the bread and butter for all players who will start their journey in the world of Rahil Kingdom. Players can locate these main quests at the top right-hand side of the game’s menu. Simply click on it and sit back. The quests are automatically completed as the game does support an Auto-Pathing and Auto-Battling feature that makes grindy easier. Most of the main quests are quite menial such as fetching materials, delivering materials, killing “X” number of enemies, etc. The main objective of completing these main quests is to receive tons of player experience, and rewards, and unlock all content available in the game.
