Tip 1. How to Damage Enemy Zombies
This might seem like a straightforward point, especially when it’s the center of progress in TWD Match 3 Tales. However, you’d be surprised by how many beginner players struggle to make it beyond the first few stages before knowing how to play.
As a match-3 game, you’re supposed to shift and match 3 or more tiles of the same color. In TWD Match 3 Tales, however, you have to go a step further by aligning those tiles to the zombie’s position.
For instance, if you’re facing a group of 3 zombies standing side by side, matching 3 tiles on the left vertically will damage a single zombie with all 3 tiles. Do it horizontally and you’ll damage multiple zombies, albeit at a much lower damage rate.
There may be times when you’ll have no choice but to match other tiles that don’t deal damage to zombies. Don’t worry, though—this is normal, and it also helps you increase your characters’ special attack meter.
Speaking of which…
Tip 2. When to Activate Special Moves
Special moves in TWD Match 3 Tales are not unlike the “ultimates” or “ultis” in MMORPGs. They attack or support moves that you can activate when your special attack bar is full. You can do this by, as mentioned previously, matching tiles (the color of the tile will fill the character with the same tile attribute).
Now, when you activate these moves is crucial. In the beginning, there are 2 times when you should do this.
The first is when you’re fighting the boss wave. TWD Match 3 Tales levels have 3 or 4 waves. The final wave is always a boss wave. Here, you’ll want to dish out as much damage as possible in order to complete the level in under X number of moves. Doing this will grant you a higher chance of doing this, which increases the odds of receiving more bonuses in the end.
The second time you want to do this is when your tile board is set to dish out multiple combo attacks. Combo attacks are when there are multiple matches on your board—e.g. when a single move can match 3 blues and 3 yellows. It’s better to clear a round with a special move and save combo moves, which deal extraordinary damage to enemies, for boss waves.
Tip 3. Rushing to Level 8 Town Hall
The Town Hall is the center of your survivor’s establishment. Engaging with the Town Hall does nothing for you, at least during the early stages of the game. However, rushing to a level 8 Town Hall opens up the armor for you, which allows you to enhance your gear’s properties.
Feeling weak? Characters dying too early? Upgrading your equipment in the Armory will most likely solve all your early-to-mid-stage woes.
The problem, however, is collecting enough cement (a resource) to do so. You can only receive cement by clearing missions and claiming rewards. This is a long and tedious phase that you’ll eventually end up doing, but it’s worth it if you want your encampment to survive the onslaught of zombies for another day.
Tip 4. Dealing Bonus Damage to Zombies
Although the tutorial explains how to deal damage and bonus damage to zombies, nobody expects you to memorize what elements are strong, weak, and immune to what elements. Good thing there’s an in-battle graphic that describes it for you!
As you can see, Red deals 200% damage to Green, which deals 200% damage to Blue, which deals 200% damage to Red. Matching the correct tiles on the correct zombies will help you dish out even more damage per turn.
You can also see that Yellow deals 200% damage to Purple and vice versa. This should be easier for you to remember.
The Walking Dead Match 3 Tales is more than just another game; it’s an experience that brings together strategy, storytelling, and the thrill of survival. Every choice you make, every strategy you employ, immerses you deeper into the rich world of The Walking Dead.
Now, imagine amplifying that experience. The tactile advantage of a keyboard and mouse, combined with the enhanced graphics of a larger screen, can truly elevate your gaming experience.
