Epic Seven – New Hero Jack-O, Pirate Captain Flan, and Guilty Gear Strive Collaboration Returns
If we had to choose any stream that could be deemed happening and exciting at the same time, it would be the one everyone witnessed on 17th March 2022 where multitudes of information were provided for Epic Seven the live 2D turn-based RPG title by Smilegate. The streams were hosted by the game’s community managers Mashuu and Gegury on their official YouTube channel as well as Twitch channel simultaneously. Players who took part in the streams were given special gift codes which are available to be redeemed for every player to get special rewards that include 3 leifs and 300,000 Gold. This week’s live stream code was – 03ggjacko18. Players simply put this code in the provided gift box that is available to all player’s in-game mailbox.
This week’s update live stream was a record-breaking hit as stated by the community managers and the entire community themselves. This was coming because of the lack of content in the past patches but nobody expected the announcement of a major re-run collaboration with Guilty Gear Strive. This time, another new hero is being added from the Guilty Gear universe – the half-robot half-human cyborg girl Jack-O. More log-in events, guilty gear special side story, and summoning banners will also be seen alongside the re-run collaboration. The newest ML hero Pirate Captain Flan was also added to the game. Let’s check all the new happenings in Epic Seven.
Pirate Captain Flan – Dark Elemental 5-Star Unit
Pirate Captain Flan is the latest unit coming to Epic Seven, tied with the release of the next hero we will be discussing. She is the first Moonlight 5-Star unit announced for this month and is the Dark elemental version of the hero Flan. She is quite chirpy but can be menacing at times as pirates are hardened by the seas. At max level and awakened, Pirate Captain Flan has a medium base Attack of 1182 and an effectiveness of 18%. Players will be able to increase the Health% of all allies with Imprint Release and boost their own Attack using Imprint Concentration.
Pirate Captain Flan is a unique new unit coming to the game as she aims to increase the efficiency and usage of Bomb and Burn units in the Arena and RTA. She can instantly detonate any Bombs or Burn effects on the target she is attacking with her single targeted damaging 1st ability Execution. This skill might sound broken but there’s more to it as you might expect she would need to be paired with other heroes who can apply these effects. No, Pirate Captain Flan’s 3rd ability Full Burst is an AOE ability that targets all enemies and applies Bombs and Burn for 2 turns each, before decreasing the combat readiness of all enemies by 25% and increasing her own Attack for 2 turns. She further gets a combat readiness boost o 50%. This skill is on a base 5 turn cooldown but can be skilled down to 4 turns. This is a massive setup skill that when compared with the likes of Seaside Iseria can lead to massive 1-shot destruction. This can also be considered a good skill for cleave teams. Her passive ability Scourge of the Sea states that 30% of the damage she takes will be redirected to the foremost ally. However, only 1 damage sharing effect can be active at a single time which means players cannot stack her with Aurius, Adamant Shield, and Proof of Valor using units.
Further, this passive also states that if Pirate Captain Flan has a buff on herself when she uses her 1st ability Execution, then she will further activate Hunt. Hunt is an AOE combat readiness boost by 10% (15% if fully skilled up) for all allies. Hunt can only be activated once every 2 turns. Overall, Pirate Captain Flan looks to be a great unit for cleavers in PvP usage. Her PvE usage is still suspected to be lower than average.
Pirate Captain Flan’s skills are as follows: –
Execution – Attacks the enemy with a gun and at the end of the turn, detonates burn and bomb effects inflicted on the target.
Scourge of the Sea (Passive) – Redirects 30% of damage suffered by the caster to the foremost ally. When more than one damage sharing effect is granted, only the strongest effect is applied. After using Execution on the caster’s turn, when the caster has a buff, activates Hunt. Hunt can only be activated once every 2 turns. Hunt: Raises morale of all allies, increasing Combat Readiness by 10%.
Pack Hunt – Increases Attack of the caster for 2 turns and attacks all enemies with a barrage of cannon fire, inflicting burn and planting a bomb for 2 turns, before decreasing combat readiness by 25%. Increases Combat Readiness of the caster by 50%.
Jack-O – New Fire Elemental 5-Star Unit
Jack-O is the half human and half robot famed character from the Guilty Gear series. This is the 3rd re-run of the Guilty Gear collaboration and Epic Seven with each re-run bringing new heroes from the Guilty Gear franchise to the game. Jack-O is the latest new unit in the RGB section of Epic Seven and she is going to be available to be summoned on her own exclusive banner starting from 24th March 2022. Players can guarantee to summon her within 120 summons if they wish to pity her. Now lets a look at her skills and see if she’s worth the investment.
Jack-O is a Fire elemental unit that is classified as a Warrior. At max level and max awakened, she has a high base Attack of 1228, Critical Hit Chance of 23%, and Critical Hit Damage of 165%. This already makes her suitable as a top-tier DPS unit. Players can increase allies’ Effectiveness if they use Imprint Release or they increase her Attack using Imprint Concentration. Jack-O’s kit revolves around Stuns and 1-Shot damage potential with her ultimate ability. Her 1st skill Throw Servant is a single targeted damaging skill that deals damage to the enemy and has a 30% chance of stunning the target for 1 turn. If the target has a debuff, Jack-O will use Dust Attack on the target again after the initial hit. Dust Attack is also a single target damaging skill that grants Stealth to her for 1 turn. Her 2nd skill is a passive skill called Trick-Or-Treat. This passive ability states that Jack-O will grant Chain of Chiron to the backmost ally for 2 turns.
If the ally who has this Chain of Chiron buff, which cannot be dispelled, attacks a Stunned enemy, then all allies will get a combat readiness boost of 15% (20% if fully skilled). This effect only happens once every 3 turns. Chain of Chiron also gives the user a buff where they have a 25% chance to Stun the target for 1 turn. Her 3rd ability Forever Elysion Driver is a single targeted damaging skill that deals penetrative damage to the enemy which ignores 50% defense and does more damage if the enemy is debuffed. If the target is killed by this skill, Jack-O will get an extra turn as well.
Jack-O’s skills are as follows: –
Throw Servant – Attacks the enemy with a servant, with a 30% chance to stun for 1 turn. After attacking the caster’s turn, when the target has a debuff, activates Dust Attack as an extra attack.
Dust Attack – Attacks the enemy by throwing them into the air, granting stealth to the caster for 1 turn.
Trick-Or-Treat (Passive) – At the start of the battle, grant Chain of Chiron to the ally in the back row for 2 turns. After an ally attacks, when the target is stunned, increases the Combat Readiness of all allies by 15%. This effect is activated after all of the attacker’s effects have occurred, and can only be activated once every 3 turns. Chains of Chiron: After attacking, has a 25% chance to stun the target for 1 turn. Chain of Chiron cannot be dispelled.
Chains of Chiron: After attacking, has a 25% chance to stun the target for 1 turn. Chain of Chiron cannot be dispelled.
Forever Elysion Driver – Increases Attack of the caster for 2 turns, before attacking the enemy by swallowing them with a jack-o’-lantern. When the enemy is defeated, it grants an extra turn. Penetrates the target’s Defense by 50%. When the target has a debuff, damage dealt increases.
Jack-O’s Symbol (Artifact) – Increases Effectiveness of all allies by 20.0%. If the target has a debuff when the caster attacks with a Single Attack, increases the damage by up to 24.0%. This Artifact can only be applied to one Hero within the team.
Challenge Side Story – Scales of Juno
The Challenge Side Story titled Scales of Juno will be coming to the game after the update on 17th March 2022. This is going to be a 2-week side story. As usual with these collaboration side stories, it will offer limited materials and other juicy rewards. The story description reads – “Epic Seven x Guilty Gear -STRIVE- Collaboration
Guilty Gear -STRIVE- Challenge Side Story, Scales of Juno will begin now.”
Players can play the challenge side story by going to Adventure – Side Story – Scales of Juno. It is a 2-week side story that displays the story for Jack-O and interactions with other characters from Guilty Gear Strive. This is a challenge side story and not your usual run-of-the-mill side story where players roam around a map that consists of different stages and farm event currency while completing reputation missions. In challenge side stories, as we have seen with previous Guilty Gear Strive collaboration iterations, players are provided a boss stage which they have to fight and complete.
The initial clears of the stories on the different difficulties that are available will give players a brief idea about the story in a usual dialogue form. The challenge side story is available in 4 different difficulties: Easy, Normal, Hard, and Hell. The stages have a chance of dropping the event currency called “Jack-O’s Lollipop” required for redeeming the various rewards from the exchange shop. The various rewards available through the side stories are as follows:
- Sol Badguy 5-Star Hero x 5 – 5 Jack-O’s Lollipop Each
- Junkyard Dog 5-Star Artifact x 5 – 3 Jack-O’s Lollipop Each
- Portrait of the Saviour 4-Star Artifact x Infinite – 1 Jack-O’s Lollipop Each
- Gold x 4200 (Infinite) – 1 Jack-O’s Lollipop Each
