Espeon, the Psychic-type Attacker is Now Available in Pokemon Unite as a Playable Pokemon
More Eevee-lutions are in the pipeline for Pokemon Unite, the top-down 3D MOBA game by Tencent Games which is a strategic simplified MOBA game with the Pokemon franchise at its heart. Players can select any Pokemon from an ever-growing roster of Pokemons and go battle other trainers on the AEOS battlefield. In the latest update of Pokemon Unite, players can get their hands on the newest Pokemon being released in the game as a free-to-play unit.
Espeon has been released after the maintenance on the 17th of May and is available completely free through an event which will also start on 17th May 2022 where players are given some tasks and completing them will earn them points for the event. Players can then exchange the points for Espeon and some other accessories.
New Pokemon – Espeon
The newest Pokemon coming to Pokemon Unite is Espeon, the calm, collected, and majestic Psychic-type pokemon. Espeon is a ranged type Pokemon that is released as a particular counter to many meta-heavy Crowd control reliant Pokemons. Espeon is an evolution of Eevee and is currently available as a Ranged Attacker type Pokemon as a free Pokemon from the currently ongoing event or by using 10,000 AEOS coins. Espeon has 2 passives which state that she cannot be hindered and can avoid hindrances. Hindrances can include slows, freezes, drowsy, etc which can CC the Pokemons. Her 2nd passive states that Espeon will slow the Pokemon for 3 seconds whenever the enemy Pokemon tries to hinder her by using a CC skill. Her boosted attack is charged after 2 basic attacks where the 3rd attack will be a boosted attack which is a magical beam that deals damage to enemy Pokemons in a straight line while also slowing them by a little amount.
Eevee evolves into Espeon at quite the early level of Level 4 and she can get her 1st move to upgrade at the same time. Players are currently preferring Psyshock over Stored Power due to the extra range, shorter cooldown, and more damage dealt in a wider area. Stored Power is like a short burst of damage that deals damage as well as slows the enemies for some seconds and this move can be stored 5 times. Espeon’s unite move Psychic Solaire is an AOE targeted damaging skill that renders the enemies in the Area useless and in the air with the psychic power of Espeon. When this bubble bursts, all enemies captured inside will take a burst of damage. Espeon’s move sets and passives are as follows: –
Anticipation (1st Passive) – When Eevee would be affected by a hindrance, the hindrance is negated and Eevee becomes immune to hindrances for a short time (45s cd). Note: Hindrances include slows; multi-layered hindrance moves such as Pikachu’s Volt Tackle will only have the very first launch negated.
Magic Bounce (2nd Passive) – When Espeon would be affected by a hindrance, the hindrance is negated and Espeon becomes immune to hindrances for a short time. At the same time, this ability deals damage to the enemy that attempted to inflict the hindrance and applies a 30% slow for 1s (45s cd). Note: Hindrances include slows; multi-layered hindrance moves such as Pikachu’s Volt Tackle will only have the very first launch negated.
Basic Attacks – Becomes a boosted attack whenever a set amount of time passes (6 seconds cd), firing a beam in front of the user. The beam deals increased damage and decrease the movement speed of targets hit for 1s.
1st Move Set Chains
Swift – Eevee launches three stars at the target location. Stars start in a horizontal line perpendicular to Eevee’s facing. Stars continue to fly in the direction once past the target location until the maximum range is reached. When an enemy is hit by a star, subsequent stars deal 70% less damage.
Psyshock (Can be chosen at Level 5) – Espeon materializes psychic projectiles and hurls them at a designated location; dealing damage to enemies hit by the projectiles and decreasing their movement speed for a short time. Orbs start in a horizontal line perpendicular to Eevee’s facing. Orbs continue to fly in the direction once past the target location up until the maximum range of the move. Targets hit by all five projectiles are stunned. When one enemy is hit by a projectile, subsequent projectiles deal 70% less damage.
Stored Power (Can be chosen at Level 5) – Espeon unleashes blasts of psychic power at random enemies in the area of effect; dealing damage to them and decreasing their movement speed for a short time. Espeon stores one blast of psychic power every 3s, or after the user hits an enemy with a boosted basic attack. Up to 5 blasts of psychic power can be stored at once. After this move is used, Espeon’s movement speed is increased for 1s. Targets hit by a psychic power blast will take 70% less damage from subsequent hits.
2nd Move Set Chains
Growl – Growl at a designated enemy; dealing damage and decreasing their movement speed for a short time.
Psybeam (Can be chosen at Level 6) – Fires a peculiar ray in the designated direction. If it hits an enemy, it will then split beyond the first enemy hit and deal damage to other enemies within range. These split rays deal more damage the higher the max HP of the first enemy hit by the initial ray. Furthermore, if the first enemy hit by the ray has their movement speed decreased or is unable to act, those same effects will be applied to the other enemies hit by the split rays. The split rays will never go towards Espeon and will deflect at a maximum of a 90-degree angle. Distance from initial target to split ray hit is 75% of the range.
For the split ray, the damage component from the initial target’s max HP damage is capped at 1000 against Wild Pokémon and capped at 2000 against Player Pokémon.
Future Sight (Can be chosen at Level 6) – Espeon locks on to an enemy, then deals damage a short time later to enemies in an area of effect centered on the locked-on target. More damage is dealt the lower the locked-on targets remaining HP is. While Espeon is locked onto a target, all other moves will target that enemy whenever possible. Each time one of these moves deals damage, Future Sight’s cooldown is reduced. If the locked-on enemy is on the opposing team and is knocked out before the area-of-effect damage is dealt with, a single powered-up use of Psyshock or Stored Power becomes available for a short time. When Psyshock is powered up, it hurls stronger psychic projectiles at a designated location that also causes an explosion, dealing damage to enemies in the area of effect. When Stored Power is powered up., it unleashes an increased number of psychic blasts and restores the Espeon’s HP when the blasts hit.
Psychic Solaire (UNITE MOVE) – Espeon throws enemies in the area of effect into the air and suspends them using psychic power. After a delay, an explosion occurs that deals damage to all enemies in the area of effect and shoves them.
Espeon is a unique new Pokemon coming to Pokemon Unite which is looking to counter the prevalent CC meta Pokemons like Pikachu, Trevenant, Wiggilytuff, etc. We recommend players to go for Psyshock and Psybeam path for a more ranged damage dealer feel where Espeon doesn’t need to put herself in danger and can deal damage from a safe distance, away from assassination threats by Lucario, Garchomp, Talonflame, etc. Players can choose to buy Espeon using 10,000 AEOS coins or 575 AEOS gems or redeem it for free from the ongoing Espeon launch event.
That covers all the news about Espeon, the newest Pokemon coming to Pokemon Unite. Give us your thoughts regarding Espeon and the cool new event where players can obtain it for free.
