Standoff 2 is touted as one of the biggest FPS mobile shooters for mobile. While the game enjoys it’s relatively large player base, many of the new updates have been quite lackluster. Well, all that changes with the Season 8 Reforged update that brings about several new changes to existing game modes and content. The new update does not bring anything new in itself but the content revamp is refreshing for many players. This article will shed light on all the new changes coming to Standoff 2 with the Reforged update.

Ranked Duel

Duel game mode was added to the game approximately a year ago, and so far players have loved it. In fact, the community wanted a ranked game mode for Duel to make it more competitive. Seems like the developers have heard the player’s requests as ranked duel is officially confirmed to be dropping with the Reforged update.

New ranks have been added to the mode, and there will be additional rewards at the end of the season. Expect some balance changes and tweak several weapon combinations. The “headshots only” and “no scope” modifications have been removed from Duel since they added a level of chance to battles. And AWM no-scope duels frequently degenerated into knife clashes.  For the time being, no unranked 1v1 Duel will take place. However, it may be included as a weekly mode in the future. For now, the game includes 2v2 Duel as a regular mode.

New Rank Ranges

Rank ranges have been updated to provide all players with more clarity. A number/point system has been added to determine what ranks the player will fit in. Here are the rank ranges:

Updated Maps

Many of the old maps such as Rust, Arena, Province, and Village are seeing massive changes. In fact, some maps like Rust are receiving a major rework. Check out all the changes:

Rust

Rust has not been updated since version 0.14.0, and there have been no geometric modifications to the map since its debut in 0.10.0. The maps are updated visually, with new offensive and defensive pathways. The map is now more balanced in terms of T and CT fighting possibilities. The same goes for bombsites A and B. A new road from the long will make it easier to approach point B, and bombsite A now has a new, clearer path from the middle. Both bomb plant locations have also undergone geometric transformation.

Lastly, the blown-up items have more meaning: on bombsite A, it’s a flammable material storage facility, whereas on bombsite B, it’s a construction crane. Hence, players can strategize more effectively with them instead of simply blowing them for fun.

Arena

The overall structure of the Arena map has not changed. It has been redesigned graphically to make it appear more modern and up to date. Some areas of the map have gained more gameplay depth. Sniper placements have been adjusted. Rifle fans will have an easier time hitting their targets, but bringing down a sniper has also gotten less tough. The little hangar may now be accessed from all sides, rather than simply from the CT spawn. It’s also relatively easy to go to the top now: there’s a hole in the roof of the small hangar that leads inside. These adjustments make the map more complex and dynamic.

Province and Village

Province has undergone a visual update: there is more light on the map, the plant textures have changed, and the season has shifted to summer. This implies that the map no longer appears as faded as the other locales in the game.

The Village’s modifications are less evident. The wood grain texture is modified to make the setting more visually appealing.

24 Hour Modes

A new set of game modes that will rotate every 24 hours are going to be added with the Reforged update. Many players were upset with the fact that some of the game modes were only available for a limited-time or limited seasons. Now, many of the old classics are making a grand return with 24 hour game modes. Each day, these game modes will rotate. Check out the complete list:

  • Sniper Blast
  • Team Deathmatch: HE only
  • Control Point

Grenade Physics Updated

One of the best ways to scout any area on any map has been to throw grenades. The throwing mechanics are getting updated with the reforged update to provide more predictability and accuracy to the player. The core change happening is that grenades will not slide much after being thrown. This will negate the possibility of slide throws to increase the distance of grenade explosion but will help players in accurately landing it in any direction. A new tool from the settings called “Enable Grenade Trajectory” will be available for all players to follow where the grenade is going to land.
