AFK Journey: Desert Region Map Guide
AFK Journey is consistently pushing out new heroes and content with its feature-rich updates. Not even a month post global launch and we are already getting hints about a new map nicknamed the “Desert Region”. With a new developer’s note just released, we got to know about some hidden truths pertaining to the map. Let’s study in-depth the climate, monsters, and mechanics of the Desert Region map of AFK Journey.
Desert Theme of the New Season
A new season, titled “Song of Strife,” is scheduled to be released soon! While the majority of the gameplay elements remain the same, the introduction of a new desert region map has caught the eye of many players. As you embark on your journey as Magister Merlin, you decide to meet a young companion from the Desert Region.
You will learn more about the inhabitants’ culture and beliefs and meet new heroes from the Desert area. Explore new diverse landscapes such as sand dunes, grainy mountains, and swirling sand-filled lands. Be careful, as ferocious beasts have made the grainy area their home in the night.
Desert Landscape and Climate
The desert environment is distinguished by its enormous dunes, which mimic continuous sea waves and reach in all directions. The wind’s intensity and direction determine the location and form of these dunes. In order to create the most realistic desert atmosphere possible, our art team purposefully created dynamic settings that let players feel the waves of sand as though they were actually in the desert.
The desert represents extreme climates. The sweltering sun drives up temperatures to terrible levels during the day, and the nighttime temperature drops, sending shivers down your spine because there are no clouds or humidity to trap heat. If you’re “lucky,” you may experience sandstorms, so be ready.
This harsh climate impacts the biodiversity of the desert, as only a few species are able to thrive. You’ll find even fewer species in the center of the desert because it’s typically the hottest and driest. On the other hand, there may be more biodiversity in the areas closest to mountains or seas, where the climate is wetter and the desert is narrower. We’ll next examine the new desert map’s flora and wildlife.
Biodiversity of the Desert Area in AFK Journey
Oases, which are usually created by underground water sources, offer humid conditions that are favorable to a wide variety of species. In these places, people frequently establish tribes. One such tribe that formed from a desert oasis and established distinctive cultures and traditions inspired by the harsh environment is the Uru Clan, which makes its appearance in the Song of Strife season. Check out all the flora and fauna available in the Desert region:
- Vulture – Vultures are common in the desert, where they often perch high above the ground to feed on carcasses. Look up if you frequently notice white bones; there’s a chance a vulture is staring at you with its bright black eyes!
- Lizard—Touted as one of the friendliest creatures in the desert, lizards can be found resting behind rocks, avoiding direct sunlight. Greet them on your way!
- Tamed Ironjaws – Only found in close proximity to human settlements like camps and arenas, these animals are vital for delivering supplies across the desert because of their remarkable capacity to hold onto water, which makes them perfect for extended desert expeditions.
- Snakebone Grass—This plant grows well in arid soil. Its green roots turn into orange and crimson branches. Its stems grow best in bright, open spaces and can hold significant amounts of water.
- Blazing Orchid—This species of plant is found quite commonly in the Desert area. It has golden-flame leaves with white tips on the ends. The thickness of the leaves helps them retain water for long periods.
- Desert Shrub – Small plants with many branches that grow in desert soil. Their roots are deeply ingrained, reaching below the surface to find water.
- Desert Moss – There are grassy patches in some parts of the desert. These plants may thrive in an arid desert climate with little water.
Culture and Architecture Found in Desert Area
If anything, humanity is stubborn to survive. Even amidst such a harsh climate and environment, people have found ways to live and cultivate. Some people move frequently in search of food and water, while others establish themselves next to rocky outcrops or desert oases. The region is greatly shaped by its culture, way of life, and beliefs. An unusual custom originating from the Ashen Wastes region’s Mauler culture and Dusk Lord faith is the Warsong Festival, which is held during the new season.
In terms of design, tribal homes are frequently erected atop naturally occurring features like caverns or rock formations for increased protection. Typically, the architecture observed here uses materials like thick canvas, sturdy wood blocks, coarse rope, and occasionally animal teeth that are resistant to heat and bad weather.
It is highly recommended that you play AFK Journey on your PC with BlueStacks without worrying about battery drainage and smooth gameplay.
