Astral Odyssey is an enchanting mobile MMORPG that features lush open-world sceneries with rich multi-coloured biomes. It is stylized to reflect elements of magic and middle-ages. The first thing you are tasked with is choosing a class. It is an important decision that will impact your entire gameplay cycle. This tier list will help new players judge their choices by weighing the pros and cons of each class.

S-Tier Classes

Let’s take a look at all of the classes included in this tier:

Rakshasa

Rakshasa is known for her DMG-dealing takeover and invincible melee combat. She is equipped with a double-sided spear and her skills compliment it very well. So far, she has the most unique melee capabilities in the game. Her best skill is Cycle of Death in which she spins around and launches up to 6 attacks. Each strike deals 80% of ATK as AoE DMG to a maximum of 6 targets. The AoE area is also large, engulfing multiple enemies at once. 

Her active ability Hell Punishment is also a powerful skill where she dashes forward and deals 135% of ATK as AoE DMG to a maximum of 3 targets. To conclude, if you love melee combat, Rakshasa is the best character for you. Her basic attack covers both vertical and horizontal directions and her skills have impressive AoE DMG. 

Vanguard

Vanguards are known for their naturally high DPS and gradual strength increase during battle. He is potent in melee combat which makes him very straightforward to use and a personal recommendation for beginner players. If you just want a character that moves smoothly and packs powerful punches, then Vanguard is the character for you. Vanguard also has very high DPS potential, coupled with short ability cooldowns. 

The best of his skills is Army’s Fall which throws the enchanted spear forth, dealing 160% of ATK as AoE (Area of Effect) DMG to a maximum of 6 targets. This goes well with Comet Thrust which deals 135% of ATK as AoE DMG to a maximum of 3 targets. Overall, Vanguard is a powerful DPS character that has devastating skills that affect more than one target. 

A-Tier Classes

Let’s take a look at all of the classes included in this tier:

Phoenix

Phoenix is known for her high mobility and DMG control capabilities. In fact, Phoenix can be thought of as Vanguard but with faster movement speed at the expense of slightly lower DPS. Phoenix is the fastest moving character in the game and she is a very good choice for players who want to play aggressively. Her skills are also very similar to Vanguard in terms of DMG output and number of maximum targets. 

Phoenix’s active ability Dragon’s Voyage states she summons a lightning dragon with flying swords that deals 138% of ATK as AoE DMG to a maximum of 6 targets in a straight-line area. You can use this skill in tandem with Evil Slayer Formation, where she summons flying swords to a target area and deals 110% of ATK as AoE DMG to a maximum of 3 targets.

If you like Vanguard, then you will like Phoenix as well. Both characters are very similar in DPS stats and skills. With Phoenix however, her skills have less damage than Vanguard’s and the AoE area tends to be more limited (i.e., straight line only with Dragon’s Voyage) but all of these downsides are compensated by her extremely fast movement speed.

Mechanist

Mechanist is known for her ranged DPS. Her weapon is a powerful cannon that can attack enemies from a distance. It also has the capability to shoot more than one projective to deal AoE damage. Like Phoenix, she also has a fast movement speed which suits well with her cannon. Her active ability Holy Spear Combo states she shoots three high-explosive bullets to deal 75% ATK as DMG to a maximum of 2 targets. 

Mechanist is a good character both for solo play and team play. Her cannon has a high damage output with good AoE capabilities which can clear enemies quickly. 

B-Tier Classes

Let’s take a look at all of the classes included in this tier:

Erudite

Erudite is known for her versatile spells and magic burst abilities. She is the only mage character in the game so far. Unlike Phoenix and Vanguard, Erudite does not do that much damage with her abilities. However, her skills do have a massive AoE DMG range. The biggest con would be her extremely long cooldowns. 

Erudite’s active ability Great Insight states she uses ink waves to deal 118% of ATK as AoE DMG to a maximum of 6 targets nearby. This skill works great in tandem with her other ability Immortal Guidance, which deals 150% of ATK as AoE DMG to a maximum of 3 targets.

Erudite is neither a bad nor good character. If you want to prioritize DPS, you are better off with either Vanguard or Phoenix. At best, Erudite makes a good support character when you are playing with tribe members but if you are playing alone, it is best to play other characters instead.

Monk

Monk is known for his high DEF and control. He has quite the high stats in terms of HP and DEF, making him the closest character that can be classified as a “Tank”. Sadly, this does affect his overall damage capabilities. Despite being a defense-focused character, his skills scale with his Attack, making him not synergized. 

Monk’s active ability Lethal Strike states that he deals 118% of ATK as AoE DMG to a maximum of 6 targets. It is best paired with Guiding Light which deals 135% of ATK as AoE DMG to a maximum of 3 targets. Monk makes up for a good frontline tank in many co-op situations. He is one of the best characters to use when you are playing with tribe members.
